Our parents told us TV would melt our brains. While it's possible "Punky Brewster" and "A-Team" did just that, along the way we saw some genius art. Television can't play 90 minutes on the big screen and vanish into the bargain bin. And it lacks one author to take it from introduction to the final page. Yet within these boundaries, there are a small number of shows that capture our attention, our obsession, and create enduring stories. How many? 35. They're listed here.

“Obviously compiled by folks under the age of 40.”
No kidding!
Sanford and Son is the greatest show in television history.
DING! DING!! DING!!! We have a winner!
Sex and the City? Oprah??? American Idol????? You have got to be kidding me!
“The best TV show ever was I, Claudius, the 1976 mini-series.”
Excellent series. I’d have to put “Lonesome Dove” right up there with it.
Oppie?
How did General Hospital make this list?
When “Young and Restless”
Y&R recently celebrated 1000 weeks at #1 in the daytime ratings. Y&R reached 1,000 consecutive weeks as the #1 rated daytime drama series against regular scheduled programming, according to Nielsen ratings for the week ending February 29, 2008. The streak began more than 19 years ago in December, 1988.
Mary Ann. Clearly.
;-)
Thats where you’ll find ................
Diver Dan??
My favorite on the list is definitely “Twin Peaks.” I hate a lot of them though, including “24”, “Sex and the City”, and “American Idol.”
I like “The X-Files,” too, but only episodes that don’t have aliens, which I guess means I’m not really a fan.
OH BABY COME ON!!...
Let me Take you where the ACTION IS!!
I would answer that as “both” Mary-Ann first. :^)
27 STAR TREK(1966-1969, NBC)
Even though it was only on for four years, "Star Trek" spawned a galaxy of other "Trek" spinoffs and a parallel universe of movies.
Idiots, not even an attempt at accuracy? The original Star Trek only lasted THREE Seasons.
Apparently the writers of this nonsense never even heard of the "Beverly Hillbillies."
No original Mickey Mouse Club with Annette ?
I never laughed so hard in my life. Everyone on that show was perfect.
“The Honeymooners”, definitely. But, “The Dick Van Dyke Show”? I thought that show kind of stunk (I have never been a Dick Van Dyke fan. I see him as being one of the most over-rated “talents” in show biz; and his brother was even worse.)
They got a small handful right. As with any list like this one, most of the selections are at least understandable, while other selections and omissions are patently ridiculous.
Where's MacGuyver? A-Team? The Sentinel? The Shield? Cops? Sportscenter?
Me too.
You’ve got to love the NY Post, but it’s never exactly been big on accuracy. Close enough is good enough for them.
