Iraqi girl who fell in love with BRITISH soldier is murdered by her own father in honour killing
Daily Mail ^ | April 27 08

A teenage Iraqi girl who fell in love with a British soldier when he was in Basra was murdered by her father in an "honour killing", it was revealed today. Rand Abdel-Qader, 17, was suffocated and then hacked at with a knife after her family discovered she was friends with the 22-year-old soldier who she knew only as Paul.

The pair first met when Rand was working on an aid project for displaced families but it is thought the soldier is unaware of the girl's fate.

She was stamped on, suffocated and stabbed - leaving her with puncture wounds all over her body, including her face.

Her own mother, Leila Hussein, has spoken out about the crime, revealing how her husband called out that he was cleansing "his honour" as he carried out the murder.

She told the Observer he was arrested after the brutal murder but was released without charge two hours later because it was an "honour killing".

"He was released two hours later because it was an 'honour killing'. And unfortunately that is something to be proud of for any Iraqi man," she told the paper.

Rand claimed she was in love from the first moment she met the soldier, who had been working alongside her on an aid project where she was volunteering.

She immediately told her best friend she was dreaming they could have a future together.

Five months on, she was brutally killed and buried without the traditional mourning ceremony in a mark of her "impurity".

Her uncles are also said to have spat on her body because of the shame they felt she had brought on the family.

The fact her relationship with the British soldier she knew as Paul was entirely innocent was not enough to save her.

According to the Observer, she was seen conversing intimately with him and because he was a British "invader" and the enemy, this could not be tolerated.

The pair last saw each other in January but her father, Abdel Qader Ali did not learn of their friendship until two months later on March 16.

He was told by a friend that his daughter had been seen with the soldier and stormed home to confront her.

Ms Hussein described to the paper how he was in a complete rage and trembled as he asked Rand if the story was true, before starting to hit her repeatedly.

She said: "She started to cry, she was nervous. He got hold of her hair and started thumping her again and again.

"I screamed and called out for her two brothers so they could get their father away from her. But when he told them the reason, instead of saving her they helped end her life."

Qader Ali had used his own feet to press down on Rand's throat until she stopped breathing before cutting at her body with a knife, she said.

Sgt Ali Jabbar of Basra police said: "Not much can be done when we have an 'honour killing'. You are in a Muslim society and women should live under religious laws."

Ms Hussein has now divorced her husband and is in hiding under the care of a charity for fear of reprisals from his family for speaking out.

A charity spokeswoman said: "She has been threatened by her husband's family and is very scared."

The Ministry of Defence is thought to be trying to track down the soldier, who is believed to have no idea his friendship with Rand might have put her at risk.

There is no official policy on advising troops how to behave with Iraqi women when they are deployed to the country.

An MoD spokeswoman said: "They are not told: don't go and fall in love."

The murder is believed to be the first "honour killing" in the war-torn country involving a British soldier.

But there were 47 such killing of young women in Basra alone last year and just three convictions, according to the city's Security Committee.

“More than a hundred years ago, Rudyard Kipling spoke of ‘the white man’s burden.’ Today we know that was a rascist statement.”

Speak for thy self, Mr/MS/whatever,

Kipling was correct. Please note that ann nations where people are somewhat secure in person and property are still generally “white”.

I’ll grant that melanin is not genetivcally coded to include barbaric behavior. But te sad fact is that only when the West imposes civilization on the rest of teh savages will such barbarisms as “honor killings” be a thing of the past.

Do remember that the barbarians respond best to power and veangence - things they can comprehend. Things like nuked cities, places where ‘the blinding light of satori was from a fire storm or a fireball.

We did it before. It worked then. It CAN work again.

Sorry to be so lengthy because I sense you understand this already.

I'm not afraid of letters, my friend.

Islam is the enemy. It has been for centuries and will remain so, unless we as a nation consume ourselves into the cause of ridding the world of it; just like The Revolutionary War, The Civil War, both World Wars, and the Cold War. Passivity is not an option here. Our survival is threatened and our part in history is to not fail the mission or we will be counted as a losing nation in the end.

Thank you! Where is THEIR outrage?! I’m sure they’re way too busy promoting murder in the womb to take time out for something like this. Hypocrits, all of ‘em!!

Arabs aren’t white? When did this happen? A Jew isn’t white an Iranian or Iraqi isn’t white?

“This will stop when the risk of killing is higher than the risk of not killing.”

Risk to whom - them? If that’s what you meant, you miss the whole thing about their ideology vs. ours. For the first time in history, we face a relentless enemy for which there are NO deterrents, unlike the super-powers of the past as in the cold war, during which the principle of “mutually assured destruction” ensured mutual peace. People, this is a whole new ballgame. Radical Islam, Iran in the forefront, only says Bring It On. They welcome it - death (ours) and martyrdom (theirs) is a necessary component of the “divine” accomplishment of a “peaceful and perfect new world” after the complete destruction of the old (non-Muslim) one. Mohammed states and emphasizes in the Qu’ran that the ONLY way to be assured of entrance into paradise is to either kill or be killed in the name of Allah. Period.

In this case, ignorance is NOT bliss. (of course, knowledge of the realities can keep you up nights.)

This is so disturbing. :-( I have heard about some stories like this before. I don’t understand what kind of father could do that to his child. I don’t approve of premarital sex either but murder??? I think Islam is a sick religion, where is the compassion?

The soldier should have know to keep his distance from this girl,....

&&
I got the impression that there was no relationship whatsoever. They had conversations, perhaps only one, that someone reported to the murderer. The soldier may have been totally unaware of the girl’s crush on him.

I cannot get my brain around the barbarity of these people and their death cult.

“Historically speaking we were never in Afghanistan, were were just arming them.”

Sure, right :-)) Actually, we’ve erred in Afghanistan twice, now that I think of it. First we built up Bin Laden with both arms AND manpower supplied to defeat the Russians, and then after 9/11, we went in like gangbusters there, then prematurely slacked off, causing the resurgence of Al Queda both there and beyond.

And here’s what most people (including the two Dem. candidates for SURE) don’t get about Iran. This is an unconventional threat where our doing nothing until AFTER they’re nuclearly established will be far too late. (To wit, HRC’s ludicrous statement that “if they nuclearly attack any of our allies, we would annihilate them”) Like they care??? They have publicly stated their intentions of destruction, in turn prompting, expecting and welcoming retaliation from us. This is a threat of such evil and magnitude that ONLY pre-emptive measures (no, I’m not talking nuking at this point) can stop it and prevent the immediate loss of millions (millions, not thousands) of lives as well as the secondary, long-term loss of more over the planet.

ALL peace-loving countries should grow some cajones and stand together on this, but in the absence of that, the little David of Israel understands and prepares to do what’s necessary against its Goliath, which would likely end in disaster due to sheer numbers and force disparities. We made a HUGE mistake in not addressing the Iranian threat first and foremost long ago, but we still have a small window of time left before the point of no return, of their being fully armed, eager and ready to launch.

For our next President not to understand this and commit accordingly is to assure chain-reaction devastation, the likes of which cannot be fully imagined.

“Bush’s main problem is that he will not allow our forces to hit hard enough. In any past war including most the USA’s wars, the military hit as hard and as often as it could. There is no holding back, there is no diplomacy, there is only force, because force is what wins and nothing else.”

You’re absolutely right about this (see one my latter posts further down). Particularly with this unique and persistent threat - only swift force stands a chance, not “hope”, not “compassionate tolerance” and NOT reason or diplomacy. This is a whole different agenda we face, unlike any ever before. The tragedy that’s created so much venom and disrespect, both here and abroad, is not that we went to war, but that we’ve conducted it in such a half-assed way, both in terms of strategy and resource commitment.

“It’s time we deploy our most deadly weapons one at a time, just like we did in WW2.”

The danger I see in this (at least timing-wise, right now) is that, unlike in WWII, we now have several scary-crazy, barbaric enemies who ALSO have those deadly weapons. I think, particularly if even SOME other nations will commit along with us, that strategic, pre-emptive strikes with more conventional (but massive) firepower on their nuclear production facilities would work. It’s widely thought by intel that we don’t know where ALL of them are (some being hidden - where IS our intel, anyway?) But we could hit enough of them to put a major hurt on, if nothing else, buying us quite a bit more time to rally allies AND give a further warning to N. Korea in the process. Whatcha think?

“There is no holding back, there is no diplomacy, there is only force, because force is what wins and nothing else.”

There IS one other alternative that would work, but would require the committed cooperation of all relevant players, and that to cut off all Iran’s credit and major banking abilities. It would immediately emasculate them, but, realistically, it’s kind of a long shot since it would require the unity of quite a diverse group of economic/banking powerhouses.

We will be counted as a non-existent nation, if not physically, certainly ideologically.

Islam is the religion of barbarism.

It allows you to be a murderous people on your own family even.

Honor? Then B.S. is honorable!

“I cannot get my brain around the barbarity of these people and their death cult.”

Well, that needs to change fast!! That’s the problem with many, many (most?) Americans/westerners. If you care to research and study further (because it’s not gonna go away), you’ll begin to understand. If you don’t care to, then just accept and believe that this is the way it is, where radical Islam is concerned, and we CAN’T change it, we can only DEAL with it in an agressive, bold way as our only chance of surviving and enduring as America. It’s us or them, period. Their own words, and it’s past time we BELIEVE them.

If you look no further than one educational source, go to Brigitte Gabriel (see her story, credentials and message to America) and her American Congress for Truth. This phenomenal lady and dynamic speaker is widely respected and consulted by heads of state, military and intelligence. She speaks from first-hand knowledge and experience about Islam. You owe it to yourself, your circle of influence, and your country to check it out.

When oh when will the women rise up in that part of the world & demand human rights?
And why aren’t the feminazis of the west helping the women over there?
These makes me sick with rage against the men who advocate these “honor Killings”.

Actually to me what would work to heel that part of the world is to hijack their water supply.
Humans need water to live & the desert doesn’t have much of it.
