Innocents eager to flee the endless campaign of '08 can take heart. Some people are already gearing up for the campaign of 2012. And why not? We've rarely had a field of such likely one-termers as John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. President McCain would be pushing 76 in the summer of '12, and the prospect of a second term would be giving the envelope a mighty shove. Four years of a hip-hop White House or the shrill echoes of a nagging nanny would surely be enough to sate the appetite of the hardiest masochist.

Is it possible that Hillary and McCain have made an agreementnow that she isn’t likely to win? I’ll be a 1 term president and help you, if you will cut Obambi to ribbons, kind of thing. I wouldn’t think of anything like this except that it involves the Clintons.

Hmm, good point, that this field of Presidential hopefuls are all candidates for one-term Presidencies. That's really very true, and makes me feel marginally better about the whole thing. I don't want to think about the next cycle yet, but it's a relief to know that this lot will be so damaged that both sides will have to start fresh. I can't believe that even the most staunch liberal won't be feed up to the teeth with just a hint of the name of “Clinton”, and we're already over McCain before he even possibly takes office. It will be sooo good to be shed of them all, and have a fresh batch of candidates. I'm sick of the lot of them from both sides, they're all tainted to me now (and most of ours were from the start—sheesh, Giuliani? Romney? McCain? why didn't we just run James Carville, at least he's married to a Republican! I'm joking, I'm joking!)

For the last couple of months, my spider-sense has been telling me that something very strange (and dangerous) is going on behind the political scenes. The morphing of supposed conservatives into demi-liberals, the recent Odd-Couple relationships between liberals and (at least nominal) conservatives (a la Gingrich-Pelosi, etc.), the forfeiture of the high road by formerly reliable media outlets (Fox News, specifically), suppression of good news (whether Iraq War, failure of biofuels, falsehood on global warming), and so on.

Much as I don't like to spend too much time on conspiracy theory, I cannot help but wonder if this is the next stage in the implementation of the NWO....

If you want a conservative PRESIDENT, your candidates have to be ready at the starting gate, not just for the last lap.

Half the Democrats believe Hildabeast is aiming for 2012. She does all she can to destroy Obama and then run against 76 year old McCain who would OWN all of W’s messes and with Dem Congress in charge, not having any real way to clean it up.

I’ve wondered the same thing, and I’m not prone to conspiracy theories. It’s probably just the way the cookie crumbled this time, but this election, even in our primaries, we had our choice of left-leaning and more left-leaning, for the most part. McCain strikes at conservatives and fellow Republicans more than at Democrats and the left. It could seem as if it just couldn’t have happened this neatly without it having been planned. And it definitely looks as if globalism is a done deal-the few in public life who aren’t globalists look almost quaint, relics from another political age.

I feel the same way. I guess I have ever since Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson fizzled. They were about the only true conservatives in the race this time, and their performance in the primaries was only slightly better than my own. That was weird.

I think both Obama and Clinton are very bad candidates, incredibly damaged, and utterly unelectable. But since the GOP has chosen McCain as our guy, I think the Democrats will capture the White House and we will see our world change. Very strange election.
