I did not say you had to vote for one or the other, only that in the end we will get one or the other.

Wherein, by that supposed inevitability, you do indeed at least imply that there is no other choice. Your argument on this entire thread screams the same. Gotta' nip this whole 3rd party thing in the bud so that the folks can't do any other.

I said that with one you get victory, with the other you get defeat. And you said “defeat it is.”

If you are relying upon McCain to beat Obama, and thereby grant your victory, then what you will receive is defeat. You are beating a dead horse or rather, jackass.

Those are your priorities. They are not mine though, I can tell you that much.

As much as I would like to have a victory in Iraq, I am not so short of sight, or short of tooth, as to suppose that victory to be more valuable than any other thing.

If your cause requires the sacrifice of every other Conservative principle in order to succeed, to the inclusion of sovereignty and the erosion of the Constitution, then your cause is neither just nor true.

Name the issues that you believe Obama would be better than McCain.

Ah, but you present here a false dichotomy, and a false choice.

The false choice is the one between the socialist with the (R), and the socialist with the (D).

You see, our next president will be either McCain or Obama, and no one else. Those are our real choices here.

There you go again.

And McCain at least recognizes that first we must secure our borders.

Yeah, riiight. And the day after the border s sealed, 30m Illegals become voting citizens. That is called "closing the barn door after the horse got out".. er.. "in"... well, you get the point.

While McCain was working on "comprehensive immigration reform", something we all opposed, Obama was leading the effort to get a far more liberal version of the bill passed, that gave priority to chain migration over merit based migration.

So what? With a 30m strong voting block, chain migration is an inevitability. Anything above the existing 30m is after the fact.

Electing Obama over McCain would make the problem worse, much much worse, not better.

Not a dime's worth of difference.

Name the issues that you believe Obama would be better than McCain.

That is completely beside the point.

I am afraid I must go catch a wink or two. But in the interim, I invite you to listen to what Keyes said, rather than just going on about his 'unelectable' status. If you care to comment on what he presents, I will be happy to debate that with you. A good bit of your argument is answered directly by Dr. Keyes, and much more eloquently than what I have to offer.

I will catch up with you in a few hours.

Good night.

No, it isn’t beside the point.
I do believe it is the point.
At least the point you are trying to make.

Your point is we should elect Obama over McCain because McCain would be bad. That means then, in your mind, that Obama would be better.

In fact, you said Obama was your 2nd choice for president, following Hillary Clinton, and McCain trailed behind both of them, followed by Romney in as what you deemed the worst choice of all.

So clearly you think Obama would be a better president than McCain.
So tell us then, where exactly would Obama be better?

More silly third-party runs which will insure a Hitlery or Hussein victory in November if enough idiots fall for this stuff.

A vote for any ineffectual third party is a wasted vote AND a vote for the Democrats.

Oh, and don’t give me this “vote your conscience” crap. Deal with reality and be practical. Pragmatism is needed.

I’m now convinced that you’re indulging in pure agitprop.

That’s a tactic of the left, you know.

A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama or Hillary.

Is that what you want? Obviously it is.

I listened to Dr. Keye’s speech, Kurt. I agree with him on every single point. He is a powerful and brilliant speaker with a knowledge and love of our Constitution and our country that no other candidates have. He has the potential to be a great president but for one thing;

He needs a dose of humility.

I supported Keyes the last time he ran. After Bush won, though, I was glad. They are both excellent men of character, but I realized that Bush has a quiet humility that is necessary for a man in a position of such power. If Keyes could learn that ONE thing.... I watched his short-lived tv show, and I realized that he exhibited a bit more than a little arrogance. It may not have been arrogance at all - it may have just been that he is so knowledgable - but it came across that way.

That lack of humility in Hitlary and Obama (one of the MANY things wrong with them!) actually scares me the most. I see nothing but blind ambition and a longing for power in both of them. I see arrogance and a total lack of humility in both of them.

I don’t know what I’m going to do in the general election. I may still look at Keyes, but I doubt it. I am one of the many that he described as “looking for a home”, yet I am loathe to help split the vote and hand a victory to the dems. That can’t happen. I’m one of the many who might have to hold my nose and vote for the RINO. (Though it sickens me to say it!)

Finally, in his speech, I don’t remember him addressing the war in Iraq. Isn’t the Constitution Party in favor of pulling us out? I want to know what he thinks about that? Putting us out now would be a disaster. He talks about the attack on our sovereignty by illegal aliens. What about the Islamic threat? That is the great battle in our time, as far as I’m concerned.

While I love to listen to Keyes and his passion filled speaches he is not a viable candidate. I voted for him here in Michigan the last two elections and voted for Thompsonin this past presidential primary. Neither have the backing needed in a two party system to become viable.

Thompson could have had this if he wanted it....he just never had the organization in place.

Speaking as a CONSERVATIVE I am very disappointed in McCain as our candidate. My gut tells me he will sell us out. The Vietnamese may not have broken his will while he was a POW but I do believe they set the table for his actions in office today. While he may be stubborn on some issues he seems to back into a corner and take sides with an enemy so he doesnt take as many punches. How anybody who is a true conservative can form alliances and curry favor with the likes of the Demonrats and have the audacity to call themselves a conservative is beyond me.

It is one thing to play in the same sandbox with others.....it is another if you start to build castles with them.

You take great liberties at being the self anointed spokesperson for Jim Robinson’s “conservative” forum. Please don’t assume to speak for all of “us”.

So you are suggesting that advocating America’s defeat in a war is a “conservative principle”?
