FReep this PETITION TO CUT OFF CARTER CENTER FUNDING (American Center for Law and Justice - ACLJ)
American Center for Law and Justice ^ | April 25, 2008 | ACLJ

Posted on 04/25/2008 9:58:33 AM PDT by Albion Wilde

Here is what the ACLJ (American Center for Law and Justice) web site says:

Citizen Outrage: Strip Federal Funding from Carter Center!

Former President Jimmy Carter has gone too far. His recent meeting with the anti-Israel, pro-terrorist group Hamas is an abuse of power and misuse of American citizens' hard-earned tax dollars. We will not allow for our federal dollars to support terrorist negotiations! Stand with Members of Congress and the ACLJ in calling for an immediate halt of federal funding to the Carter Center. Please read the form below carefully and declare your membership with the ACLJ by adding your name to our Petition to Cut Off Carter Center Funding.

Petition to Cut Off Carter Center Funding

To All Members of the United States Senate
To All Members of the United States House of Representatives

As a concerned member of the American Center for Law and Justice and a tax-paying citizen, I stand with Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow in calling for an immediate halt of federal funding to former President Jimmy Carter's Carter Center. I am outraged by his recent meeting with the terrorist group Hamas and condemn any federal support of Carter's organization as a result of this misuse of power. America and her citizens do not negotiate with terrorists. We firmly support this longstanding doctrine and respectfully ask you to do the same. Please immediately pull the plug on federal funding of the Carter Center.

Not real familiar with it, but can’t the Logan Act be used here?

Something certainly should be. According to Wikipedia, the Logan Act "is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years. The text of the Act is broad and is addressed at any attempt of a US citizen to conduct foreign relations without authority. However, there is no record of any convictions or even prosecutions under the Logan Act." [emphasis mine]

It is interesting to find out that the Carter Center is engaging in a partnership with the George Soros’ organization, the Open Society Institute.

Hard to know who approached whom in this situation — whether Carter sought Soros money out or Soros sought to infiltrate; but it is a known activity of leftists to try to infiltrate and co-opt as many organizations as they can, to bring them under leftist control. The recent donations by abortion-promoting organizations to the National Council of Churches is just another example.

Joe Boucher commented: "Is there a petition as to whether or not we should stone Carter on the steps of the capital?" My comment about needed a petition was referring to this comment.

LOL!! Thanks for the clarification!

Thanks to everyone for your bumps and especially to those of you who signed the petition. Citizen displeasure with Carter’s inappropriate and dangerous pursuit of vindication at the expense of our elected officials must be brought to the attention of our so-called government.

I’d strip him of Secret Service too. The thought of one penny of my money going to the deceitful, traitorous old coot is outrageous.
