It was a noble sentiment, succinctly stated, and the core of what Democrats believe - that George W. Bush has been a historic screwup as President, that there are huge issues to be confronted this year. But it was laughable as well.

Let’s not nitpick the details of this article so much that we miss the forest for the trees. Joe Klein is a key Democrat pundit, and I don’t expect him to abandon his core prejudices and beliefs. But the theme of his column is very telling, and reflects the Democrats’ growing realization that radical activists have saddled their party with an unelectable nominee. We can grant Klein his errors, but we should read this column with sheer joy for its satisfying message: CHAOS!
What's interesting is that the Media have woken up. They have let issue pass them by like ships in the night. What is amazing to me is that they are bring up things they they ignored for weeks and months.

Mr. Klein also overlooks this:
Hillary Clinton is, at best, a mediocre US Senator;
Barack Obama is a sub-par US senator;
John McCain is an equivocating US senator who won’t even defend himself.
None of these people are up to the tasks ahead of us(with the exception of McCain on the WOT and taxes).
And when will Hillary learn that every vote for Obama is a vote AGAINST her....because they are both Pure Socialists with the same agenda....and the middle class is going to pay through the nose.

I see what you are saying about the nitpicking. However, I say ‘be careful.’ This is how the liberal establishment has gotten in the door in the first place. They sprinkle a few decent thoughts among a cr@pload of snobbery sniff-sniffs. I might find some of it meaningful after I wipe off the slime of being spit on. This read just smells funny and the author seems to want to put some of us in the gutter.. I guess.
I wish he would have presented his opinion without all the condescension. There a couple of cool sentences but, somehow, I feel like I’m being talked ‘about’ instead of included in the conversation, if that makes any sense.

Obama wants to run a high minded campaign that avoids, "deliberatley", the real issues. So we're to support him based soley on his personna, w/o actually looking at, or questioning, said personna.
Take him at his word. How dare those of us out here in the "gutter" question his associations. How dare we look past his hollow, vacuous rhetoric, to see who Obama really is.

Barack Obama would not be where he is if he were not black. The fact that he has gotten this far is due to the fact the MSM sit on their bias asses and did not vette him. He is turning out to be the Democrats worst nightmare because the secret that he feels exactly as they do about us and this country is getting out. This guy in no way is qualified to be President, I hate to say it but he pales even to Hillary.
