Los Angeles 'is a Third World city'
Daily Telegraph (UK) ^ | 23/04/2008 | Staffer

Posted on 04/22/2008 7:44:40 PM PDT by PotatoHeadMick

Los Angeles is becoming a "Third World city" with immigrants making up half its workforce, says a new study.

A third of immigrants have not graduated from high school and 60 per cent do not speak English fluently, the Migration Policy Institute found.

It said this left immigrants ill-equipped to fill California's fastest-growing occupations, such as computer software engineering and nursing. The organisation added that as the so-called baby boomers reach retirement age, a similar pattern will spread across the US.

Ernesto Cortes Jr, of the Industrial Areas Foundation, a think-tank that specialises on social change, claimed Los Angeles was at a crossroads.

"The question is are we going to be a 21st century city with shared prosperity, or a Third World city with an elite group on top and most on near poverty wages?" he said.

A short article about LA, I've never been so I can't judge its accuracy.

The consequences of open borders, multiculturalism, and “diversity” are on display for all to see. And they’re not a success story.

Coming to other American cities if the Open Borders crowd has its way.

I have been to several third world cities and I have been to LA recently. It is just silly to claim they are alike.

When I was in Adana, Turkey, there were cattle in the streets. There were cats you would give a wide berth to. There were horse and oxen drawn vehicles. There was hot water a couple of hours some days.

Heck when I was in Istanbul there was a guy with a bear on a change who for money would make the bear dance. The bear was muzzled.

LA is a typical US city. It has very nice areas. It has bad areas. It has electricity and running water to all areas. It has paved roads throughout.

Violent crime. Rampant terrorism. Massive illiterate population. Lack of rule of law. I would say that LA has many simularities to third world cities.

I lived in Adana, I only visited LA. I can tell the difference between a third world city and LA.

There is a group of gypsies that specialize as dancing bear handlers.

Now all they need is for it to get inexplicably colder and rainier and Ridley Scott’s “Bladerunner” will be a reality.

I live in a third world city. And I have been to East LA, Compton, El Monte, Lynwood, Baldwin Park, Anaheim, etc. etc.

Lets say it is as close as you can get for sake of argument.

I live 15 miles north of Tijuana, a third world
city. You can see everything any other third world city
is and you can see extreme wealth and luxury.
Same thing in LA

Don’t believe these cockamammie Commies in the MPI! The actual figures are much higher. We’ve been invaded and we’ve let them stay and drop their anchor babies and take our jobs. Most of us didn’t complain when in the 70s, they took the hard labor farmworker harvesting jobs. Then, they moved into the cities and took our high-paying construction and plant jobs. It got so bad in L.A. that they were not questioned at the polling booths where many voted—a Federal and state felony. They don’t assimilate. They’re still Mexicans. They send what they earn back home so it never gets recirculated into the American economy.

The answer to the pro-business types who contend “But if we deported them, there’d be no one to change the sheets in the hotels and motels, no one to do janitorial work, no one to pick the fruit and veggies!” is...if those lawbreaking business can’t figure out that they can easily get American labor if they raise the pay and offer benes, then they don’t deserve to be in business and should sell out to those who will pay good wages again for work done. We’ve seen it in the meatpacking plants in the Midwest that were raided—the owners brought back American workers for a higher wage and there were lines around the block to get those jobs!

I wonder what the sanitation, water, electricity, indoor plumbing, corruption, situation is in Tijuana compared to LA? I wonder if the average LA cop and municipal worker is corrupt?

Thank you. But the all-knowing types who have never been here will differ with you and believe what they want to. They’re off and running...
