New York, April 19: Apparently tired of bickering between presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, Democratic Party leaders are likely to pressurise the former US first lady to withdraw if she performs badly in the crucial Pennsylvania primary on Tuesday, analysts say.
However, should she decide to continue to fight until the party convention on August 24 in Denver, the party can do little about it.
But with several party leaders asserting that the vicious campaign is doing damage to the ability of the Democratic party to take on Republican candidate John McCain, pressure is likely to mount on super delegates elected officials to declare their preference so that the candidate with lesser numbers could be persuaded to withdraw.
In the debate in Philadelphia earlier this week, both candidates had said that their fight would not affect the Democratic Party's ability to defeat McCain and that they would get united once the nominee is chosen.
But the party bosses do not think so. They say if the fight continues until August, the party would lose three crucial months of campaigning apart from the fact that the Republicans would give ammunition to damage whichever candidate is nominated.
Party Chairman Howard Dean, media reports say, has been urging the super delegates to make up their mind early as there is no chance of either candidate getting enough pledged delegates. The super delegates are not committed to anyone and decide on their own.
Meanwhile, Clinton slightly shifted the line of attack on Obama, challenging his ability to manage the country when he is complaining about tough questioning during the debate in which his performance, all analysts agree, was below par.
Sorry, but this study was a meaningless waste of time. Primaries are primaries and caucuses (caucusi?) and ne’er the twain shall meet (except in Texas). The Dems get to choose their methods and this is the best they can come up with. What constitutes the “popular vote” is what they define as the popular vote, not what some egghead might want to project onto the party.
The other crucial problem with the study, such as it is, is that caucuses and primaries are not in any way comparable. Caucuses are basically coffee table meetings where people sit around and come to a consensus about who ought to win—they don’t reflect actual votes in any way shape or form. It is totally illegitimate to extrapolate a primary vote total from caucus results. They are not comparable samples.

the latest ras poll is not very comforting, but I think she will still win there.
Not enough to stay in it though unless she can still poll off a 10-point win, which seems unlikely now despite the Obama comments that made such a win a sure thing in polling last week!

DFU NOTE: As we watch the battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, we have been given some hints at what Hillary has planned.
Behind the scenes, the Clintons and their surrogates are attempting to negotiate with, bribe, and threaten Super Delegates.
Hillary has been working on this presidential race for a couple decades. She is not going away quietly. As did Saddam Hussein, she is prepared to "burn the oil wells." She is not going to back down. She is prepared to destroy individual lives and the Democratic Party if it stands in her way. Anyone who has followed politics even superficially knows that there is nothing she will not do to acquire power.
There will be a battle of attorneys over the unseated delegates from Michigan and Florida. The Clintons have unlimited funds to fight the battle. They have unlimited funds for private investigators to dig up dirt and threaten to release it as necessary. And they have surrogates in the mainstream media prepared to advance the historic Hillary effort to become the first female president.
As we have seen, surrogates talked about drug use and the middle name "Hussein." They cleverly claimed that it was something the evil Republicans would do; it wasn't Hillary's doing. Oh, no.
We are going to see more negative stories about Obama. They will certainly come from the Hillary research team. I haven't been impressed with the ability of the mainstream media to do research.
The chances at this moment are that a Democrat will be in the White House. Some say that will happen even if the GOP candidate wins. We can disagree, but I fear Hillary more than Obama. The info on him hasn't even begun. He may fall as quickly as he arose when the voters see that he really is an empty suit with a good delivery. That is not presidential when we are fighting the Islamofascists.
The Clintons are a criminal enterprise; they are the political Mafia of this country. They are capable of doing anything to anyone at any time. She will shut down talk radio without Congressional involvement. I believe she will name sites such as FR as hate sites and find a way to censor them.
If it comes to it, we will fight Obama. There is a very good chance that he will be portrayed as he is -- a left wing extremist who is totally incompetent to run our foreign policy and oversee our economy. For now, a stake must be driven into the heart of the vampire.

If she has NO choice but to take a deal and drop out, this is the best bet for several reasons:
1) Unless McCain REALLY screws up, Obambam will lose and can't appoint her to anything anyway. The senate dem leadership position remains available.
2) If somehow Obambam wins, she will be in a good position to undermine him at every turn thus keeping open a chance at the 2012 race and show them how stooopy they were to deny her this time.
It could be amusing to watch the Queen Bee wrestlemania between the two houses of congress.
