The Democrats’ Wimp Factor
Newsweek ^ | April 17, 2008 | Michael Hirsh

Posted on 04/18/2008 5:11:29 AM PDT by moderatewolverine

The specter of John Kerry in 2004 is beginning to haunt the Democrats in 2008. It is the specter of wimpy campaigns past. It showed up, like Banquo's ghost, at the debate Wednesday night in Philadelphia, particularly when Hillary Clinton joined with ABC's George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson to nip away at the edges of Barack Obama's patriotism. Between the questions about Obama's meager association with William Ayers, a former Weatherman, and the suspicions raised by his lack of a flag lapel pin, the likely nominee is slowly being turned into John Kerry. He is becoming, in other words, a candidate who may be mostly right about national security but who will lack the Red State street cred to carry his point—and the election.

OMG, Newsweek opines:

“He is becoming, in other words, a candidate who may be mostly right about national security but who will lack the Red State street cred to carry his point—and the election.”

Yeah, he “may be mostly right about national security” ....lol.

Between being revealed as a tyro and a nincompoop, the likely nominee makes John Kerry look like George Washington!

thanks to questions about Ayers and the "anti-American" statements of his pastor, Jeremiah Wright....

Note the quotes suggesting that the remarks maybe weren't really "anti-American."

Nothing wrong with "G.. damn America". Nothing wrong with the "US of KKKA." Nothing anti-Ameroan at all, right!

“mostly right about national security”

Are they out of their minds? If the U.S. walked away from Iraq not only would Al Qaeda/Iran take over that country but they would then be freed up to give greater support to the Taliban in Afghanistan. That conflict cannot be resolved until the Taliban loses their safe haven in Pakistan and that’s not going to happen any time soon.

And HOW DARE Newsweek put “anti-American” in quotation marks when talking about Wright’s statements, as if there were some doubt about their true meaning.

The interesting thing about ABC’s entertaining performance is the nature of media biggies.

They are sharks.

Sharks eat even THEIR OWN (and Klintoon and Hussein are their own)...

when there’s blood in the water (and there is blood—from Hussein hacking away at himself).

This is just tooo much fun.

Today's Dems are, in other words, proving unequal to the task of reclaiming the party's mostly honorable heritage on national security.

Huh???

It won’t just be red-state Repulicans who don’t vote for Obama. A lot of blue-state Democrats won’t vote for him either.

Osbama is going to very hard to beat. The press will cover for him, excuse him, promote him and turn McCaine into a raving..deaf..crippled old man.
Freepers underestimate this guy, but not the damage he will do.
Our first line of defense is our own conservatives voters..who must not sit this one out. Then we need to dissuade our koolaid drinking friends that they are dead wrong about Osbama being a breath of fresh air.
We need to support all the conservative congressional candidates and insure that we have a firewall from this grade a marxist.

For as weak a candidate as McCain is, Obama is weaker. I wouldn't be surprised to see McCain take 48 states.

The MSM can only cover so much for the guy. Kerry is a good example. Kerry was every bit the MSM favorite and he was totally exposed despite the MSM’s strong effort. I believe Obama to be far more vulnerable than Kerry. Sure, the MSM will run interference for him. Sure, many Oprafied Americans are dumb as a stump. But Obama simply will not be able to run away from the fact that he is a bitter anti-American Marxist.

John Kerry, a winner of the Silver Star in Vietnam, spent most of his 2004 campaign defending himself against vague suggestions of treason based on his antiwar testimony in 1971, when as a young officer returning from Vietnam he asked, penetratingly and relevantly for today, "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?"

In the real world (as opposed to the make-believe world of Newsweak), those "suggestions" were anything but vague. They included hard evidence that he and his organization, the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, worked hand-in-hand with America's enemies to produce and publicize false war crimes propaganda against the US military. Even Kerry's "last man to die for a mistake" line was a paraphrase of remarks previously broadcast on Radio Hanoi.

Lets ask again why Hussein didnt place his right hand over his heart during theNational Anthem, but rather chose to cup his privates and slooched showing total disrespect to Our Country several months ago at Sen. Harkin’s gathering?

I agree that McCain is weak compared to historic conservative standards, but the White house will be Won by the influx of dissatisfied Libs voting for McCain(in congress with the remnants of the Republican Party showing up in November!) As an aside,it would be amazing if a Ranking Democrat(or Candidate) would push for the Logan Act to be enforced against Jimmy Carter immediately! That action would be HUGE to demonstrate the liberals understanding of National Security, because as sure as I’m writing this to you, Jimmy Carter is a Traitor!
