New "anti-terrorism" rules ordered up by DHS for those who fish the Great Lakes are causing a wave of dissent. While still leaving our southern border wide open, the northern border will be protected by stricter security rules heavily enforced by the DHS, particularly for those tall-tale-telling anglers.

COMMENTARY: Starting with the 2008 charter fishing season on the Great Lakes, and particularly impacting Lake Erie because of its geography and popularity among anglers, fishermen will now have to have their passports or two IDs to get back to shore. Because some of the Great Lakes have an invisible watery border with Canada, and fishermen may cross that invisible watery line while fishing, they will be required to go through extra "anti-terrorism" procedures.
These include having to drive, upon their return, to a government reporting station and have their pictures taken minus their fish for a customs officer who will view them via a videophone connection. Their names and faces will also be run through the governments terror watchlist.
Charter boat captains are furious because of the economic impact the rules will have on the charter fishing industry, as many sport fisherman will simply no longer charter a boat to take them out onto the lakes. And charter boat captains also know such measures will not protect against terrorism. Captain Rick Ungar, a retired police chief said: "How does this secure our country? Im not insensitive to law enforcement issues, but these are

Sure happy we live in “Papers please” America.
What’s next? Ghettos for those who refuse to be sheep?
When I went fishing last year, my Great Lakes fishing guide reminded me to bring my passport.
2 ID’s. Will a Fishing License do?
Canada is going the way of Europe, especially Toronto. Pretty much unrestricted muslim immigration, welfare payments to multiple wives, muslim only schools, etc.... Who knows, in 20 years, our problems may not be a the Southern border any longer.

millions of illegal Mexicans (and who knows who else) slip across our southern border, but if you go fishing in the great lakes, you will be asked for your papers.....
...what is wrong with this picture????
Exactly. The Great Lakes, especially Lake Michigan, has been a thruway for Arabs to conveniently cross into the United States undetected.
I wonder if I’ll need one to walk down to my dock ?

I find this part of the article hard to believe. That would end 100% of the LK Erie fishing in Michigan waters. Nobody would put up with restrictions like that!
Maybe my geography has failed me, but I always thought the Lake Michigan was totally boardered by US territory, with the exception of the mouth of the lake.
Are they coming from Michigan or Wisconsin?
If they are in Lake Michigan, then they already crossed the border somewhere else.
I’m happy that we want to check the status of people coming to our shores.
But is it really helpful if the way we do it is to tell people that when they land, they have to drive somewhere and turn themselves in for processing?
Certainly people sneaking in aren’t going to do this.
Check it out. 1st Post, too.
I live on the Great lakes. No muslim is crossing Lake Ontario in a small boat. Your muslims come from Buffalo.
