How many years in advance was Germany selected for the 1936 Olympics? Did Hitler just “take advantage” of what was already scheduled for his country?
With China, the committee knew full well who they were dealing with.

It's only a once in a lifetime opportunity to SEE the torch if you only live to be 4 years old. And then you wouldn't understand it anyway.
I hate to be one to support these Free Tibet activists especially considering that there are a ton of other things about China that they should be concerned with but are not. Like:
Communism
Censorship
One Child Crackdown
I could go on. These liberals support the Free Tibet cause because it is trendy and has a cool looking flag. But despite that I like them out there because it is an embarrassment to the Chinese Government that they cannot crack down on.
By the way, how much do you want to bet that that bandanna this joker is wearing was made in China?

The antiChristian Left is now teaming with the “human shields” in Iraq to denounce Christian evangelism there saying that it is a violation of Iraq's religious sovereignty.

True, but the Olympic Flame had already been lit at the games since 1928 in Amsterdam. This was the first time it was run on a relay through multiple countries. (7 in all)

From a post I made on this thread:
DUmmie FUnnies 04-10-08 ("Should the U.S. be banned from The Olympics?") (Thursday, April 10, 2008)
"The US should of course be banned from the Olympics. The Olympics are where the civilized nations of the world get together to compete. The US has shown, by its unconscienable actions in Iraq and elsehwere, that it is outside the norms of civilized nations."-DUmmyI hate dummieland nazis.

Failed President Jimmy Carter calls for a boycott of the Moscow Olympics
on Meet the Press in 1980. He urged that the Games be moved
to another country, postponed or canceled unless
the Soviet Union withdrew from Afghanistan.
Dreams were stolen in 1980 and four years
later when Moscow retaliated. .

Why are they much more vocal about “Free Tibet” than they are about “Free Taiwan” or “Free Hong Kong”?

Do I know that he’s a San Francisco liberal? Though I don’t think anyone needs to be yelling in someone’s face to get a point across, I think that protesting in favor of a free Tibet is a good thing.

Why are they much more vocal about Free Tibet than they are about Free Taiwan or Free Hong Kong? I'm telling you, its because "Free Tibet" just rolls off the tongue. It sound cool. "Free Hong-Kong" sound a bit awkward. Tibet has a cool looking flag. It look like a sun rising. If China was occupying Arizona, you can bet the liberal would be protesting it. Cool Flag. Rising Sun.
The gravitate to the trendy. That's what happens when you have no REAL set of values.

Why doesn’t anyone protest on behalf of Tuva? They’ve got that great throat singing thing. And live on outer Mongolia. Talk about remote!
