Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, "Stay the course."
Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I'll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out!
You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore. The President of the United States is given a free pass to ignore the Constitution, tap our phones, and lead us to war on a pack of lies. Congress responds to record deficits by passing a huge tax cut for the wealthy (thanks, but I don't need it). The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Iraq, the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving pom-poms instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of America my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you?

ANYONE can be a CEO:
Tell him that boat sails both directions.
He’s selling a book. Criticizing both Pubs and Dems, and crying that we need leaders, not dummies who sit on their a**es, but who DO something....yeah, right....the do something disease. DOING the right thing would be getting GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE WAY.
Nothing more than a liberal rant. He thinks so it all becomes provable facts.... NOT!!!!!
Liberals have a notion that if they say crap long enough and often enough that it automatically becomes fact. Sorry chumps, but it doesn’t work that way. Honest people understand that concept.
true conservatives do not like Bush but what alternative would you suggest?...J freaking Kerry?...
look in the mirror MR. Idiot...you'll find almost all big shot ultra rich are sitting on your side of the bench, reeling in millions and millions in govt handouts, cooperate welfare, special favoritism, etc....
its the ultra rich DEMONRATS that are sinking our ship, all the while claiming that they are really for the working poor and the middle class...
SS and Medicare and property taxes and income taxes are for the workers to pay....YOU Mr. Idiot are able to escape a lot of taxes and please don't give us the crap about you don't mind paying taxes and you would pay more....
before you pay more, you'll conveniently donate to the Gates foundation so your money goes to your leftist ideas and you have a nice, public gesture to show what a wonderful guy you are.
Hasn’t Lee Iacocca been a national embarrassment for long enough?
Goes to show that anyone can be a CEO. Iacocca proves it with his mouth.
I agree.
That said, Iacocca has always been more interested in self-promotion than in real leadership. So it's hard to take him seriously on this subject.
Being as I strongly think a Rat is going to win the WH this year, a “throw the bums out” mentality helps us tremendously in Congress at this point. Frankly, nothing scares the red staters like having Hillary as president. I sure hope she’s the nominee, we might not have to wait until 2010 to get our Congress back...
I will never ever again buy a car made by Chrysler, Ford, or GM.
I am not alone in that sentiment, so nice job you did as CEO.
Hey Lee, when the big boys at Chrysler screwed things up we (the public) bailed you out. And then after Chrysler screwed up a second time the Germans bailed you out (yes, you, the Chrysler stockholder). And now that Chrysler has screwed up for a third time some venture capitalista have bailed you out. Now, please, STFU, you overhyped arse; you never could build a winner, bit the hand that fed you andtoday have absolutely no perception of what the War on Terrorism is all about.
What “leader” would get elected? Honestly, few want to hear the hard truth, and that is what a real leader would need to tell America, whether in Congress or as President. The wussified America doesn’t want THAT!
“The President of the United States is given a free pass to ignore the Constitution”
But he had no problem with the Congress’ extra-Constitutional actions of bailing out his company.
If he believes this, he is senile.
I hadn’t thought of Ia-caca for a while. He spent all that time coming up with this? Hope no business follows his advice.
Five minutes.
with a baffled look on his face.
Shocked look.
It's all on tape. You can see it for yourself.
Okay, here it is. Why doesnt the video jibe with your description of events?

Then, instead of taking the quickest route back to Washington and immediately going on the air to reassure the panicked people of this country, he decided it wasn't safe to return to the White House. He basically went into hiding for the dayand he told Vice President Dick Cheney to stay put in his bunker.
He DID want to go back to Washington, you dumb ass. But his security team had to talk him out of it. You see, for security reasons the President and vice President are not supposed to be in the same area with each other often. That way they dont die together. That way if anything happens to the President, the Vice President needs to take over. Bush is NOT supposed to get into the line of fire, much less with the Vice President. And I dont know who told Cheney to get into the bunker, but thats what he was supposed to do! Why are you stupid, Lee?
We were all frozen in front of our TVs, scared out of our wits, waiting for our leaders to tell us that we were going to be okay,
No we werent. The last thing on my mind was "where are our national leaders telling us everything is going to be ok?" After all, while the towers were crumbling down, thousands of people dying, and at the same time you saw Bush get on tv telling us that everything was going to be ok, wouldnt you attack him for being an idiot? We know you would.
Your post was far better than Iacocca's article.
