ATLANTA, April 4, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Hooters of America announced that the NCAA has pulled a full page ad promoting the popular restaurant chain and featuring well known College Basketball Analyst Dick Vitale from the Final Four Official Tournament Program. Word of the ad removal reached Hooters Marketing Department late on Thursday when the ad agency that had placed the ad on behalf of Hooters received an e-mail from a representative of National Events Publications, which produces and sells program ads for the NCAA. The ad in question is a Full Page 4 Color image promoting Hooters 25th Anniversary Celebration and features Dick Vitale and Sara Hoots, an appropriately named Hooters Girl, who happens to work for Hooters at a restaurant in Selma, Texas, a suburb of San Antonio where the Final Four is being played.
"My understanding is the NCAA had stated they would only consider the ad if we removed the image of a Hooters Girl, which is absurd. That would be like telling General Motors you can advertise but don't show a picture of a car," stated Mike McNeil the Vice President of Marketing for Hooters of America. "Sara is a beautiful, intelligent and hard working employee, and we would never consider removing her image from the ad. I am concerned by this last minute and seemingly arbitrary treatment. The basketball tournament is an important time for our business, and the fact that certain competitors of ours are allowed to advertise and we are not puts us at a competitive disadvantage," continued McNeil.

A whole new meaning to beating the spread.......
Someone should tell Hooters that GM lets prospective buyers go for a ride.
Now we know why GW was a college cheerleader.
You’re absolutely wacky, baby!
As Rush says, NOW is all about getting ugly women a fair shake.........
Nope, I’m not a lesbian, not a Hooters hater, but they’ve always represented the pinnacle of tackiness to many, and it’s always surprising to me when any organization chooses to be branded with them. It’s a love ‘em, hate ‘em thing, kind of like George Clooney - perceived to be popular, but just not a sure thing business-wise. We’re talking colleges here, not the pros, different market entirely.
Yeah, a bhurka..............

Its just toooo heterosexual.
Can’t have anything bringng up thoughts of male/female pairings -
It could turn off the Lesbo fan base.
I’m a woman and find zero, zip, zilch wrong with that poster. The woman is adorable and Vitale is, well, Vitale.
The girl isn't a lesbian or a pro-abortion feminist. Thus, she's a bad role model for younger girls.
Looks like Hooters is developing a reputation as a politically incorrect establishment. Where is the photo of the man dressed as a Hooter’s waitress?
She looks like a former arm wrestling champion
I approve of this ad. Would be even better if Dick Vitale was replaced with another Hooters girl from Selma, San Antonio.
***That would be like telling General Motors you can advertise but don’t show a picture of a car***
That’s odd. Most of the married guy’s I know who frequent Hooters say they go for the food.
Why is it that the women who protest things like this are hairy, Birkenstock-wearing, lezzbos?
