BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Authorities enter Eldorado-area temple (Fundamentalist LDS cult)
Go San Angelo ^ | 5 April 08 | Paul A. Anthony

Posted on 04/06/2008 5:27:22 AM PDT by SkyPilot

Local and state officials entered the temple of a secretive polygamist sect late Saturday, said lawmen blockading the road to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado.

The action comes hours after local prosecutors said officials were preparing for the worst because a group of FLDS members were resisting efforts to search the structure.

The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and Schleicher County sheriff’s deputy confirmed that officials have entered the temple but said they had no word on whether anything occurred in the effort.

The incursion into the temple caps the three-day saga of the state’s Child Protective Services agency removing at least 183 women and children from the YFZ Ranch since Friday afternoon. Eighteen girls have been placed in state custody since a 16-year-old told authorities she was married to a 50-year-old man and had given birth to his child.

Saturday evening, ambulances were brought in, said Allison Palmer, who as first assistant 51st District attorney, would prosecute any felony crimes uncovered as part of the investigation inside the compound.

“In preparing for entry to the temple, law enforcement is preparing for the worst,” Palmer said Saturday evening. They want to have “medical personnel on hand in case this were to go in a way that no one wants.”

Apparently as a result of action Saturday night at the ranch, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a Schleicher County school bus unloaded another group of at least a dozen more women and children from the compound.

Although members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, have provided varying degrees of cooperation to the sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers searching the compound, all cooperation stopped once authorities tried to search the gleaming white temple that towers over the West Texas scrub, Palmer said.

“There may be those who would oppose (entry) by placing themselves between law enforcement and the place of worship,” Palmer said Saturday afternoon. “If an agreement cannot be reached … law enforcement will have to — as gently and peaceably as possible — make entry into that place.”

Sect members consider the temple, dedicated by then-leader of the sect Warren Jeffs in January 2005 and finished many months later, off-limits to those who are not FLDS members, said Palmer, who prosecutes felony cases in Schleicher County.

Palmer said she didn’t know the size or makeup of the group inside the temple.

The earlier refusal to provide access was even more disconcerting because CPS investigators have yet to identify the 16-year-old girl or her roughly 8-month-old baby among the dozens removed from the compound, Palmer said.

“Anytime someone says, ‘Don’t look here,’” she said, “it makes you concerned that’s exactly where you need to look.”

The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.

The joint raid included the Texas Rangers, CPS, Schleicher County and Tom Green County sheriff’s deputies and game wardens from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Although CPS and Department of Public Safety officials have described the compound’s residents as cooperative, Palmer disagreed.

“Things have been a little tense, a little volatile,” she said.

Authorities removed 52 children Friday afternoon and 131 women and children overnight Friday. About 40 of the children are boys, said CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.

No further children have been taken into state custody since Friday, when 18 girls were judged to have been abused or be at imminent risk for abuse. CPS has found foster homes for the girls, Meisner said, and will place them after concluding its investigation.

Meisner declined to comment on the fate of the 119 other children and said authorities were still searching the ranch for others Saturday evening.

“They’re in the process of looking,” she said. “They’re literally about halfway through.”

“The question again: Was Jesus descended from the polygamous
marriage of David and Bathsheeba?”

The answer again: No. Jesus was descended from couples, one
sperm and egg at a time until the Father came upon Mary.

The truth: Jesus has ancestors who practiced polygamy.

I don’t really feel one has to make a outright claim to know when one talks about a faith in a derogatory matter they are not apt to be as objective as they think they are protraying.

I read your remark on going with the LDS for about a year and the same old canards that is always tossed around about the LDS.

I been a convert for 26 years now and if I heard as much of what you heard in one year.

no one talks about subjects as you claim and I am not the only one there are about 60 freepers plus who are LDS all over the US and world and they too when the subject is mention by non LDS wonder where are they hearing these things because we sure are not hearing it.

So most of us reason by deduction.

If you get up grumpy there is no sence in carring on becasue who needs a repeat of yesterdays performance!

Good clarification. I think the official LDS church should sue them for trademark infringement. Not kidding.

Jesus is a descendant of plural marriage as most here on FR in the ancient of day! Study your scriptures!

Now that's just wack. Jesus is the only begotten Son of the one Almighty God the Father, nurtured in the physical by a virgin.

The ancestors of Joseph, Jesus’ adoptive father, are shown to establish the prophets’ claim that the Messiah would be from the House of David. But Jesus’ (super)natural Father was Almighty God, not Joseph.

You know the Mother has DNA from her family line which Jesus also carries now in his DNA!

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST MATTHEW CHAPTER 1

Christ is born of Mary—She conceives by the power of the Holy Ghost—Our Lord is named Jesus.

1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;

I'm enjoying watching the cognitive dissonance of the mormons here whose creed states "We believe in the Bible as far as it is correctly translated, cite the Bible to defend the theory that Jesus was the descendant of polygamists, while they vehemently deny that Joseph Smith had ANY children with any of his 33+ polygamous wives.

By the same token, it's interesting that they deny the LDS practice polygamy, and here they are on all the polygamy threads defending it. The more they defend it, the more folks are reminded of their own polygamous history. If I were still mormon, I'd stay far away from polygamy in any form.

It's entertaining, to say the least.

Arresting 200 individuals to investigate the marital status of one 16 year old girl, seem like it might just be a little overkill, don’t ya think?

Just asking -- is "taken into custody for questioning" the same as an arrest, or having an arrest record? They are trying to find the girl complainant, who is doubtless in fear for her life, and protect the children and possibly other wives taken into underage, incestuous or coerced plural marriages.

It's not like they could just send one social services caseworker to the compound and expect her to straighten it all out.

True, however, the ancestors of Mary as recorded in the Gospel of Luke, include both Abraham and David, both of whom were known to be polygamists.

Therefore, resty's statement was absolutely true.

You say you were LDS once but many time I read your replies and wondered what you really understood in those days!

You make such leaps that we don't like the Bible when it to is another witness to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Seven care to add to this?

greyfoxx39 this is what is annoying you and many others like to speak for us or put words in our mouths.

I have said many times that plural marriage in many ways was a beautiful things.

Because of the caliber of souls who have entered the earth.

Personally I understood Plural marriage would not be with drawn until all of God purpose was completed.

These two ordinance plural marriage and the priesthood being open to all worthy males are most likely the two most dificult and misunderstood manifesto.

Many non members like to blame the LDS as though they had the say, when it was the Lord call and only the Lord knew when mission was completed.

I fine when one is sincere and study the scriptures as well as ponder that many times in the mind's eye will come pure understanding not only that but appreciation in thing work in the scheme of things.

God knows all our hearts and minds and when we as a people are ready to take on more of what he has in store for us.

Would have been, if she’d have said that.

She did not. The very fact that you said you “interpreted”
her statement should give you pause. There was a reason you
had to interpret it.

Elsie asked you..

“What?

Didn’t one of your LDS hierarchy come by your home and give you a healing???”

So I’ll ask you the same question...

Didn’t one of your LDS hierarchy come by your home and give you a healing???

After all. if Jews can use the words in the Old Testament to get healed ...

and Christians can use the words in the Old Testament and the New Testament to get healed...

the mormons should all be in excellent health with their 3rd testament...

And if not...

Why not ????

Descended from those who were involved in LDS polygamy until 1932 placemark.

I am not the result of polygamy, but only a product of zygotes from two individuals coming together just like everybody else bump.
