Mexico reconquers California? Absolut drinks to that!
The latest advertising campaign in Mexico from Swedish vodka maker Absolut promises to push all the right buttons south of the U.S. border, but it could ruffle a few feathers in El Norte.

Been there.
FReeped that.
Got the T-shirt.
I wonder if increased sales in Mexico will offset their losses in the US market. Since I’ve never thought of Mexicans as big vodka drinkers, I kinda doubt it.

Not doing too badly.
We buy Vodka every once in a while. Today was the day to pick up a bottle. A friend and I ventured into the store. He said, Absolut. I said no.
They lost one bottle sale today. Not a big deal to them am sure but it adds up in my little world.
Buy Tito’s. Made in Texas. Abdo-lutely great tasting!

Hope they enjoy all of the free advertising. We could put a whole new spin on Guerrilla Marketing.

What kills me are the idiots who moan about how no one knows history and how the US with its declaration of manifest destiny took the land from the natives.
How do these nimrods think any culture or any country arose? Naturally, because a military banded together and fought for land at some point. Or at times, cultures/religions banded together.
It’s as if these people actually believe that “France” arose from thin air.
Although...
The advertising seems to be creating a buzz stateside. Good, bad or indifferent, the name is being talked about, and as much as we may not like to admit it...gosh...there are people (and Americans) that will buy it because it isn’t exactly pro-USA.
And isn’t that the name of the game in capitalism? Make a profit? I’m not buying it, but they aren’t advertising towards me. They are targeting south of the border.
After reviewing the ad I would buy a bottle of Absolut. It will be a collectors item. Get it on eBay!
As to the controversy it is an affront to those north of the border, but who cares? If California cared they would secure their borders instead of budgeting billions for illegal aliens.
Why don’t you send this to the Absolut people. See if they have the guts to run the exact map in an ad.
