Jeremiah Wright And The Irony Of Black Racism
Jewish Press ^ | 4-2-08 | Ira Heller

Posted on 04/02/2008 5:26:31 AM PDT by SJackson

The irony doesn’t get any better than this.

Barack Obama is supported by multitudes of Americans so eager to demonstrate their “liberal” benevolence that they gave him their votes on faith, before they had any substantial knowledge of who the man really is. Enter into the picture the images of Obama’s beloved minister of 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, spewing his hateful venom to his delirious mass of followers.

The consummate racist, Wright last year accused America of being too bigoted to elect a black president. And now that a substantial segment of the American electorate has proved him wrong, the person who will bear most of the blame if Obama’s campaign goes into a tailspin is Pastor Wright himself!

The eggs Wright’s been hurling all these years at the country that gave him extraordinary opportunity and success have now landed right on the face of the first serious black presidential candidate, who just happens to be his disciple.

If this scenario were a Hollywood script highlighting the hypocrisy and self-destructiveness of black racism, it couldn’t have been written any better.

Nobody can deny the horror of the criminal oppression foisted upon black Americans during the era of slavery and for far too long after abolition. But blacks who see the way forward in the hate-filled rhetoric of a Wright and his ilk do more to stymie the progress of the African American community than any white racist ever could.

Clearly, Barack Obama still has a lot of explaining to do, though it’s questionable whether anything he can say will wipe away the realization of millions of Americans that beneath the well-spoken, cosmopolitan veneer lurks a misplaced loyalty to a demagogue who spews hate and racism in the guise of religion. One would think someone of Obama’s intelligence and talent knew better.

The African American community does not lack for heroes and role models in every sector of society – men and women whose laudable accomplishments have been the fruits of their own efforts. How much more sensible would it be for Obama to follow the lead of someone like Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, who decries the notion that skin color affords entitlement?

Obama’s ears have been filled not with the forward, optimistic thinking of the likes of a Justice Thomas, who blesses America, but with the venom of the likes of a Pastor Wright, who despises and curses America.

America has shown itself to be quite ready for a black president. Not ready, apparently, is Obama himself, who despite his flowery but empty rhetoric seems not to have the slightest idea about what makes this country great – and therefore is not worthy to lead it.

If the first serious presidential candidate produced by the black community is a follower of the likes of Jeremiah Wright, then Wright is correct – America is not ready. But for a black leader boldly prepared to lead the black community out of the clutches of hate-filled demagogues like Wright, America has shown itself to be more than ready.

Obama's core values have been formed and matured over a 20+ year period at a place where he himself (in his book) says that he was drawn because of their ideology and theology.

That place was Trinity Church where his icon and mentor and advisor was Jeremiah Wright, whose icon was James Cone, and the ideology/theology is Black Liberation Theology. It is who Obama is and it is not traditional Christian by a long shot, and it is certainly not pro-American either.

And O’bambam is welcome to have any thoughts/opinions/ideas/beliefs that he cares to have but NOT if he is to be president, or even senator!

If this scenario were a Hollywood script highlighting the hypocrisy and self-destructiveness of black racism, it couldn’t have been written any better.

The mainstream media's continuing support of Obama is, perhaps, an even greater example of complete hypocrisy. Imagine the hue and cry we would hear if a white candidate (particularly a republican or, God forbid, a conservative) had gone to a church whose pastor was a card-carrying member of the Aryan Nation or Ku Klux Klan. Our hypothetical candidate would have been a member of the congregation for twenty years, and the pastor, his spiritual mentor, would have performed his wedding ceremony and baptized his kids. How would that have played in the NY Times or the Washington Post?

It's a great argument to use with liberal friends acquaintances. When they use the talking point that Obama isn't responsible for Wright's words, I throw this reverse situation at them.

EXACTLY EXACTLY EXACTLY

The media have proved to be utter worthless with the question of race and concering Obama and his associates.

Ever noticed that the media will not even mention the word racism or racist, what is even more distrubing to see and hear is that those black preahers and many blacks have come out in support of this rev wright and Obama.

Fox has had some blacks on recently making excuses for Wright, Fix has a guy on named mark lamont I think his name is

He is clearly a racist towards whites and yet Fox still has him on.

the media have ignored every negative about Obama , some have made excuses for his and even some have defended him all the way.

The hypocrisy by the left is astounding, they are always saying racism should be kicked out, there is no place for racism, we have to go after racists etc etc
Now a black guy along with other blacks have bene making racist, bigoted disgusting comments about whites, jes, Italians etc and yet what does the left do
Do they condemn it, NO
do they say it is unacceptable, NO
do they make a stand against this racism, NO
Well do they say it has to step down as there is no place for racists, NO they don’t

they actually are ignoring racism even though the racism is directed by many on the left, so much so they will vote this man in.

Disgusting and I neevr will take anyone seriously anymore who are on the left and say racism is unacceptable

It is the job of all of us who love this country, who do not like this racism being out out by Obama and his associates, to get the message out there, do not drop this news and certainly ask why are the media ignoring this, why are they not asking what is a typical white person or white folks greed,, because for sure if it was was white man saying all of this then the media would be saying racism, racist and that white man would be hounded out fo office

What is jsut as hypocritical is blacks on this, it seems racism by blacks on whites , jews, Italians infact anbyone who is not black is OK

I have heard and been told by blacks to go back home, (I look hispanic when I am suntanned to some as I have very Italian looks) I have heard white boy, white arse over here, when I have asked why bring colour into it they look dumbfounded
Even the left say white trash so when I hear this and ask hey what has colour got to do with this they look stunned and then I ask would it be alright to say black trash. They just look lost the poor souls

I just hpope all of us get the message out there about Obama and let the people know who he really is from his racism, to his slum landlord, to his lying about selma, or coming over here even filling out forms
The American public deserves to know who they are voting for and not to be lied/insulted to off elitist reporters

The eggs Wright’s been hurling all these years at the country that gave him extraordinary opportunity and success have now landed him in a million-dollar mansion in a gated majority-white neighborhood.

Irony, indeed.

Psst...

Don't you know that only whites can be racist???

The University of Delaware ran an indoctrination camp about that you know.

If Obama gets into the White House, all white American males will all be coerced into similar BS programs at work, school and home.

Bank on it.

I've voted twice for Alan Keyes for the Republican presidential nomination, but Alan Keyes "isn't really Black" because he's against homosexuality. Meanwhile the gay-friendly Rev. Wright praises the homophobic Louis Farrakhan and nobody on either side of the issue points this out. So is Farrakhan "not really Black?" Or perhaps he is not really opposed to homosexuality?

Someone should ask Wright what he thinks of Robert Mugabe--a lefty whom other lefties actually criticize for "homophobia!"
