ISLAM has overtaken Roman Catholicism as the biggest single religious denomination in the world.
Monsignor Vittorio Formenti, who compiled the Vatican's 2008 yearbook, said Muslims made up 19.2 per cent of the world's population and Catholics 17.4 per cent.
"For the first time in history we are no longer at the top - the Muslims have overtaken us," Monsignor Formenti told Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, saying the data referred to 2006.
He said that if all Christian groups were considered, including Orthodox churches, Anglicans and Protestants, then Christians made up 33 per cent of the world's population - or about two billion people.
The Vatican recently put the number of Catholics in the world at 1.13 billion people. It did not provide a figure for Muslims, generally estimated at around 1.3 billion.
Monsignor Formenti said that while the number of Catholics as a proportion of the world's population was fairly stable, the percentage of Muslims was growing because of higher birth rates.

That's what the so called "Moderate" Muslim leaders think. Why go and do an all out Jihad when it's only a matter of time before Muslims infiltrate and destry us from within by infiltrating our government and education systems? They'll simply out breed us and pass laws making us illegal.

Neither Mohammad nor Fatimah appeared in the top 25 for 2006, nor did either appear in the top 100 for 2000-2005. (Sorry for ruining your hyperbole with facts. Unless you were being sarcastic, in which case let this post stand to inform those of us who don't get sarcasm.)

This report just counted Catholics only. Did not count in the other churches, which still makes Christianity the largest religion. Watch that Islamic tayyqia.
It does not take into consideration that in the global south countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America the Christian faith is booming, be it Catholic, Anglican, or Evangelical. Plus also 6 million Muslims have left Islam to embrace the Christian faith bigtime. Expect that the new missionaries to re Christianize the west will come from those countries.
Bear in mind also that these numbers are supplied by the Muslim countries themselves, and they are notorious for overestimating the number of Muslims anywhere.
My own theory is that the RC's simply deleted the holy rollers from the count ~ Fur Shur the Moslems do.
