Dad Allowed to Take Leave From Prison to See His Dying Little Girl

OMAHA, Neb. — A 10-year-old Nebraska girl with terminal brain cancer had a simple last wish: to have her dad by her side as she lay on her death bed.
On Wednesday, seemingly against all odds, Jayci Yaeger's wish came true.
Her father, Jason Yaeger, who has been locked up in a South Dakota federal prison on methamphetamine charges, was allowed to see his daughter for what may be the last time.
He was furloughed after a barrage of letters and phone calls from around the country convinced officials to let him visit the hospital, according to KETV.com.
Jayci, who cannot speak, move or eat, could sense that her father was next to her and feel his touch, because she began breathing more heavily during his visit, the family told FOX News.
But to their disappointment, the visit lasted only about 30 minutes.
"She wants her dad. She goes to her room crying because she wants her dad," Jayci's mom, Vonda Yaeger, told KETV before the prison warden agreed to permit Jason to see his daughter.
The girl's condition has been described as minute-to-minute, and she recently suffered a stroke.

I agree with you, however look at all the idiotic spending in the prison system now....cable tv, internet access, etc. When you’re already paying for things like that, this seems like a good cause by comparison.

It was the little girl’s wish for him to be with her and hold her hand when she took her last breath. Waht is so hard to understand?
It looks to me as if it isn't the daughter who is wanting this as much as it's the mother who wants it for her.
How is it that a child who cannot speak, move or eat goes to her room crying?
I feel for the child, but the family is using the media to get sympathy for this little girl, and it's going to end up costing the taxpayers a huge chunk of cash. (he's not incarcerated in the same town)
You want a private hell for this scumbag meth dealer? I would have audio taped his dying daughter's crying wish for her daddy and played it every day in his cell. He would never see his daughter. I don't understand why he's still allowed to breathe air.
Rationalizing the misuse of taxpayer funds because they have been used for worse purposes is a good part of how our government has gotten so out of control.
If you support the government's abuses of it's authority that you like, then you don't have solid grounds for supporting similar abuses that you don't like.
Far too many people look at how the government wastes money, and while they generally oppose it, when they see a cause they like, they figure that since the government wastes so much money, they should waste some on that.
Our politicians pander try to pander to all kinds of special interests so that they do something for most everyone.
We tossed out the idea that government has limited authority long ago, and allow them to use our tax dollars on just about anything but Christianity.
I perhaps didn’t explain my point well enough....I don’t consider taxpayer money used so that a dying girl can see her incarcerated father to be a waste, compared to where it’s wasted on cable/internet access, for example.

I've found this is especially true of bureaucracies...I'm glad to see common sense was allowed to make a rare appearance in this case.
I understand your point. I agree that it’s a better use of money. However, taxpayer money should be used for neither, and it’s use for one does not justify using it for the other.
By the way, the little girl died this morning. Very sad. I’m glad she was able to see her dad before she passed, regardless of who paid for it.

I have seen so many in the criminal courts who are essentially sociopaths who just don’t care.
I would much rather this little girl have found the comfort she was seeking with the presence of her father.
yes, I wonder if the defendant (or the family) will send a simply thank you note to the judge...
I hope I’m wrong, but I bet the family blames the judge that he wasn’t at her bedside when she passed. It would be nice if he appreciated the fact that rules were bent for his daughter’s benefit and gave thanks for that.

yes but custody follows the parents and thus that child of an illegal goes home with the parents.
AND under the new rules that child’s offsprint are NOT us citizens UNLESS the child citizen lived for ten years in the USA before the ofspring’s birth) Military service in the US armed forces counts to the ten years.
It is a positive step from 1996 to eliminate the anchor baby BS.
Regardless this matter is closed the girl died and she was allowed to see her father despite his mistake.
I don’t think your only sin is driving over the speed limit. If you have broken one of the Commandments, it is just the same as if you have broken them all.
Are you trying to state that you have never broken even one of the 10 Commandment at any time in your life?
The children of illegals who are born here are citizens.
