Fighting the Left’s Control Agenda
North Star Writers Group ^ | March 24, 2008 | David Karki

In my last column, I talked about how the real agenda behind liberal policies is control – control of you and your life, in all its aspects. There is simply nothing safe from this agenda – from the more picayune things, such as the type of light bulbs in your lamps at home or whether you can have a smoke, to the big things like where you can live and what type of vehicle you can drive (if any at all).

You might be asking, especially if you don't care about incandescent versus compact fluorescent, or don't smoke, or don't drive, why any of this is a big deal. These don't seem to be such major encroachments, after all. And there are benefits from these outcomes. But incidental noble ends do not and cannot justify, and therefore must be separated from, the immoral means.

Remember this when you hear “urban sprawl” and “sustainable growth”. Urban sprawl is the end result of individual choices made by free people. Sustainable growth is how they’ll try to shame you into giving up your freedom.

Yes, control over every aspect of your life,

except where you want to “rub your jubblies”. This is the ONLY freedom the left supports.

In that case, you’re free to do whatever the heck you want and use the government to make everyone else pay for the consequences.

The lefties spend a lot of quality time with the dictionary and thesaurus don’t they?

Such cuddly words.....

Renewable
Recyclable
Green
Fair
Equality
Egalitarian
Diversity
Progressive
Smoke-free
Clean-air
etc.

Of course, all of these fuzzy widdle concepts will be enforced at the point of a sword, but hey their hearts are in the right place.

Don’t forget “Fair Trade”, or “LEED”; they’ll have us drinking urine recke before long, while they drink champagne.

Such cuddly words.....

Yep. You may want to make a list for "our" side, beginning with the title of this article. CONTROL is a cuddly word for FASCISM.

It always starts with the "little" things, the minutiae of day to day living.

The stupid among us experience a frisson of superiority, to which they attribute a moral component, when someone else's freedoms are infringed upon to advance their own vision of Utopia.

Their perspective is that of a child's, which is why they're so blind to the consequences.

I've come to loathe them.

Reviewing the history of mankind it is replete with people who want to control other people, the number one recurring theme. It is a powerful desire among people which requires constant vigilance and resistance.

The price of a barrel of oil has doubled since dims got congress back. Job expansion that set a record while they were out of power started going backward when they got congress back. Grocery bills for the average family have gone up $70.00 per month since dims got congress back. The market has lost 10% since dims got congress back. Home prices have lost 8% since dims got congress back. Inflation has gone up the most since the early ‘90s, in the time since dims got congress back.

ALL this has happened since dims got the congress back and an economy that was ROARING along has all but stopped. dims suck.

The point is that once you allow government to presume to choose for you how your life shall be lived, in any detail, in principle your freedom is gone. And that is more detrimental, by far, than any other superficial gain is desirable.

Preach it! This is what so many people fail to see. Some Freepers included, unfortunately!

Thank you for posting this.

It is concise, accurate, and demonstrates something I've been warning about since the day I couldn't buy a vehicle that wasn't equipped with seatbelts.
