Will Rush Limbaugh Be Indicted for Voter Fraud?

As Ohio election officials investigate illegal crossover voting in the 2008 primary, questions arise on Rush Limbaugh's role.

Limbaugh, the nation's top-rated talk radio host, was urging Republicans in Texas and Ohio to skip their party's primary on March 4 and instead cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in order to prolong the fight between her and Barack Obama.

What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail.

On Thursday, March 20, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the "Cuyahoga County Board of Election has launched an investigation that could lead to criminal charges against voters who maliciously switched parties for the March 4 presidential primary."

In 2008, 2.22 million Ohioans voted in the Democratic primary, compared to 1.27 million in 2000, according to unofficial results released by Brunner's office. In contrast, 1.01 million Ohioans voted in the 2008 Republican primary, compared to nearly 918,000 people in 2004.

Michael Slater of Project Vote, a nonpartisan group that designs voter registration drives for low-income people, said GOP meddling in the Ohio Democratic Primary was a clear-cut example of fraudulent voting, which is how Republicans have defined the issue in recent years, as GOP advocates have urged state legislatures and Congress to adopt anti-fraud measures such as tougher voter ID laws.

"Here we have a real instance of spurring people on to engage in illegal election activities with a real intent to affect the outcome," Slater said. "That is voter fraud. People were encouraged to break the law. They had to declare allegiance to a political party and sign a document under penalty of perjury. Intent is what matters in voter fraud."

I didn't really want to chime in on this forum but I must agree with the posters who say you really are an idiot.

El Zibo does not think that Hillary Clinton can succeed in forcing the “Fairness Doctrine” because Bill Clinton could not do it. He is mistaken as she will be able to do it with a democrat Congress.

Something is apparent from some of the comments. There’s nothing more vain, insulting, vulgar, selfish and dishonest (and probably ugly) than a man-hater.

“I personally believe he wants to punish McCain at all costs because his guy Romney didn’t cut the mustard”

Rush gave Romney a gratuitous endorsement (i.e. said he was the only acceptable candidate) but only a day before Super Tuesday. Rush criticized Romney’s fiscal populism on another occasion. Rush said the only guy he could get excited about (on McCain’s ticket) was Bobby Jindal. I thought the Jindal comment was a slap to Romney.

Maybe he thinks the Republicans put up a weak candidate and anything he can do to weaken the Democrat candidate, whoever it is, will help in the general.

I'm gonna go with my interpretation only because I actually heard him say that on the radio. More than once.

I wonder sometimes if people like you even listen to or should I say understand his show.

I've been listening since 1991. And during that time I've heard him consistently underestimate the Clintons. He swore Bill would never get elected in 1992, he was convinced that Starr would force him from office, he promised Hillary would never get elected to the Senate and I think he even predicted a few years ago she would never run for President.

And, the thing is, I'm still listening to him and I NOW I hear him starting to say things about how, if Hillary gets elected in November, "at least we had fun" with Operation Chaos. He's already hedging his bets for when/if this backfires.

Rush is on record as saying that a Hillary win in November could be better for the GOP in the long run. Why should we assume he isn't still working that premise?

If he is, I would submit it's just one more example of him underestimating Clinton, Inc.

The man is playing with fire and I, for one, won't have sympathy if he gets burned. He should have learned better by now.

Rush should be careful. These people hate Rush. They see him as responsible for problems of their own making. There is not much they wouldn’t do to get rid of him.

They would write a whole new state constitution to get rid of him, if they thought that would work.

By the way, the guy who does Daily Kos urged Dems to cross over and vote for McCain this year. Haven’t heard much about that in the press.
