Still Time to Change Party Affiliation for the NC Primaries
Tuesday, Mar 04, 2008 - 07:48 AM Updated: 10:08 AM

The May 6 presidential primaries in North Carolina are quickly approaching, but there’s still time to change your party affiliation.

Voters have until 5 p.m. April 11 to switch parties in time for this year’s primaries. Voters can do that on a voter registration application, which can be found at the board of elections office in each county, or at the library.

Voters can also print a registration application from the State Board of Elections web site, www.sboe.state.nc.us.

April 11 is also the deadline for new residents in North Carolina to register if they haven’t already done so.

Registered voters in North Carolina can only vote in the party primary with which they are affiliated. If they are unaffiliated – or independent – then they may vote in either party’s primary.

When they check in, unaffiliated voters can tell the poll workers which party’s ballot they would like. If they don’t, they will receive a non-partisan ballot.

I guess El Rushbo was on oxycotin during the whole Joe Wilson/Valerie Plame thing and forgot what can happen when a ‘Rat leaves his people in office for the next GOP president.

Clinton may have left RAT people in office for the next GOP President, but who to hell kept them there after his inauguration?

Like McPain, Bush was always for avoiding confrontation and reaching out to the other side, such as keeping Norm Mineta--who turned out to be only second to Chertoff as the worst cabinet sec. in Bush administration.

Moreover, while W could have fired Mineta, he had no direct control (and more than likely no knowledge) of Plame or Joe Wilson.

Do not reregister from Republican to Democrat. In North Carolina, independents are allowed to vote in either primary, your choice on election day.

Since I, for one, need the votes of Republicans and independents to wim=n my primary on 6 May, I'd like potential conservative voters in Western Carolina to retain the option to vote for me. As independents, they will have that option. As Democrats, they would not have that option.

Does anyone think it’s possible, just possible, that Operation Chaos may backfire? That is, enough GOP voters will vote for the Hildabeast and that will give her a lead in the popular vote which will give the Superdelagates a reason to give her the nomination? Then, the nightmare happens...she wins the election.

Somebody...tell me I’m crazy for thinking such a thing, and make me feel a whole lot better.

As that old song goes, "It only hurts for a little while."

The same can be said about a colonoscopy - no?

Believe me I know. I crossed over and voted for the Beast here in VT. First time I voted Dhimmi since I voted for LBJ some 44 years ago.

Dang! You're an experienced crossover! (I didn't say old! I NEVER said old!)

Of course, not that anyone can state for certain that keeping her in the race is the cause of the chaos, confusion and disarray within the RAT party, but the affects have been fantastic and thus, my conscience is clear.

Having live riot shots from Denver maybe worth it.

More adult beverages and snacks, please.

I'm WAY ahead of you...

PS - use soap.

I've got one of those, too. (Are you sure I won't be affiliated with Whitewater or Moanica after that?)

Since I am not an El Zibo sycophant I have the ability to see his extreme hate for McCain. He is working very hard to defeat by taking on the weaker candidate Obama hoping that McCain will face Hillary Clinton who has more chances of defeating McCain in the general elections than Obama does.

They’ll find a way to pin it on you. a RAT operative is already making a donation to HRC in your name. They are blaming me for the whole UFO cover-up already and I’ve only been a “RAT” for like 3 weeks now. /s

I can't make you feel better, but I'll say it doesn't make much difference, so we might as well have some fun with it.

I don't care if She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named or the religious racist Obama wins the nomination, the MSM is going to make sure McCain gets his clock cleaned. While Obama may seem to be the lessor of the two evils because he's kinda stupid (go to his website and read his position papers), he'll still put very evil, antisemitic, racist (am I being redundant?) people into his advisory positions. They'll have the power in an Obama administration.

No, you’re NOT crazy-and that’s what we can’t get all these cutesy-poo talk radio bots to understand. Obama is just one cut above being mortally wounded, and the Clintons smell blood. They weren’t going away ANYWAY, since they feel it’s their birthright, but you can’t get that through these people’s heads. Every day, the Clintons are given more legitmacy (’he can’t win a big state’), and they’ll use lawyers and the courts to take the nomination if they have to. Then you’ll see both the party and the media come together so fast it’ll make your head spin. The empty suit of Barak is the only chance McPain has. I can’t stand McPain, but if the Clintons get in again, I’ll never survive it-my blood pressure will kill me. And many here on FR prefer eight more years of them to McCain or Obama.

I voted in the TEXAS GOP primary so I could attend the conventions, however, I would have gladly voted for the BEAST to keep Osama Obama busy and keep the chaos going. I walked into the RAT caucus and felt like I had to shower after that.

I know quite a few people that crossed over and voted for the Beast. Let the RATS whine and cry about this—they sure crossed over to pick McCain for us. Turn abouts fair play.

I didn't know. Registering as an independent will allow me to vote in the RAT primary without compromising my conscience?

I'm kinda jazzed about that...

“RAT For A Day”! Sounds like a plan to me!

I ordered my “Operation Chaos” T-shirt, ball cap and bumperstickers from Rush’s web site today.

Maybe I'm forgetting, but can't you only pull one ballot? I don't think an "Unaffiliated" can vote in the Democrat primary for President and Republican primaries down-ballot. They have to vote all Democrat or all Republican.

By the way, I think this whole idea is pretty silly. There is a lot more to vote on than just the Presidential race, particularly a pretty important primary for Governor. I'd just as soon anyone who cares so little about state and local elections stay out of the NC Republican Party.

If you can find any trace of a “NC Republican Party” that is anything other than an excuse for the Old Boys to get together for drinks, please let me (and most of the NC ping list) know.

You are right, of course. Independents can vote in either the Republican or Democrat primary, but all the way down in only one ballot. They can't pick and choose. I didn't mean to imply that.
