Somebody better break it to the New York Times: they might still be the paper of record in their own minds, but to the rest of the world, they're just one more dead-tree joint struggling for attention.
The Old Grey Lady's unjustified conceit was on display during this afternoon's Hardball, when one of its reporters was aghast that Chris Matthews had had the audacity not to have read her oeuvre.
NYT reporter Deborah Solomon had interviewed the Rev. John Hagee, a minister who has endorsed McCain and has made a number of controversial statements. I would mention in passing that while Hagee's critics have accused him of anti-Semitism, he has in fact received numerous awards from Jewish groups for his steadfast support of Israel.

Maverick68 said “Hagee endorsed McCain. Obama endorsed Wright. Big difference there....”
You have hit the nail on the head! Thank you.
"Please note that this does NOT apply to McCain/Hagee, because Hagee is not McCain's pastor, making it a case of a Right Wing hate monger endorsing a senile Right Wing nut, and the nut accepting the endorsement, without benefit of a pulpit between them," she added.
Just to clear up a few misconceptions in this thread:
1) If you watched the video, you would see that she was specifically talking about McCain/Hagee when she said, “I don’t believe that a pastor’s words should hurt a candidate....we believe in separation of church and state in this country.”
2) I’m not quite sure that she was as offended that Matthews hadn’t read her piece as some people around here think she was. She seemed a bit surprised (and, frankly, that makes sense: if Matthews is going to bring Solomon on to talk about her article, he should have at least had someone else read the article and brief him on it, not because it’s the NY Times, but because he was bringing her on his show to talk about the subject matter of her article)
3) Solomon is not exactly a NY Times reporter. She has a recurring column in the NY Times Magazine, which is something of a separate publication, an which has a separate editorial board from the NY Times itself
Sorry guys. I think you’re talking about Joe E. Brown.
Check out “Some Like It Hot”.
That's okay, you're not the only one who didn't see it. Compare the number of views to the few posts saying they saw it.
It could be just that she was surprised that Chrissy was doing an interview without doing the research...and showing surprise that Chrissy isn't as bright a bulb as she assumed.
A NYTs reporter can..They have actually no compuntions against lying and calling people racists and anti-semites if anyone dares disagree with them and their DegenoLib socialist death cultism.
Whoops, my bad. Other posters have now established that the comedian in question is Joe E. Brown, not Lewis. I haven’t found proof about fist in mouth but am sure I remember as a child seeing him do it.
.....I dont read the NYT or listen to Chris Matthews......
You are far from alone.
More people hear Chrissy clips warmed over on Rush than when originally aired on DNC TV.
