THROW GRANDMA UNDER THE BUS
March 19, 2008

Obama gave a nice speech, except for everything he said about race. He apparently believes we're not talking enough about race. This is like hearing Britney Spears say we're not talking enough about pop-tarts with substance-abuse problems.

By now, the country has spent more time talking about race than John Kerry has talked about Vietnam, John McCain has talked about being a POW, John Edwards has talked about his dead son, and Al Franken has talked about his USO tours.

But the "post-racial candidate" thinks we need to talk yet more about race. How much more? I had had my fill by around 1974. How long must we all marinate in the angry resentment of black people?

As an authentic post-racial American, I will not patronize blacks by pretending Obama's pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, is anything other than a raving racist loon. If a white pastor had said what Rev. Wright said -- not about black people, but literally, the exact same things -- I think we'd notice that he's crazier than Ward Churchill and David Duke's love child. (Indeed, both Churchill and the Rev. Wright referred to the attacks of 9/11 as the chickens coming "home to roost.")

Imagine a white pastor saying: "Racism is the American way. Racism is how this country was founded, and how this country is still run. ... We believe in white supremacy and black inferiority. And believe it more than we believe in God."

Imagine a white pastor calling Condoleezza Rice, "Condoskeezza Rice."

Imagine a white pastor saying: "No, no, no, God damn America -- that's in the Bible for killing innocent people! God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human! God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme!"

We treat blacks like children, constantly talking about their temper tantrums right in front of them with airy phrases about black anger. I will not pat blacks on the head and say, "Isn't that cute?" As a post-racial American, I do not believe "the legacy of slavery" gives black people the right to be permanently ill-mannered.

Obama tried to justify Wright's deranged rants by explaining that "legalized discrimination" is the "reality in which Rev. Wright and other African-Americans of his generation grew up." He said that a "lack of economic opportunity among black men, and the shame and frustration that came from not being able to provide for one's family, contributed to the erosion of black families."

That may accurately describe the libretto of "Porgy and Bess," but it has no connection to reality. By Rev. Wright's own account, he was 12 years old and was attending an integrated school in Philadelphia when Brown v. Board of Education was announced, ending "separate but equal" schooling.

Meanwhile, at least since the Supreme Court's decision in University of California v. Bakke in 1978 -- and obviously long before that, or there wouldn't have been a case or controversy for the court to consider -- it has been legal for the government to discriminate against whites on the basis of their race.

Consequently, any white person 30 years old or younger has lived, since the day he was born, in an America where it is legal to discriminate against white people. In many cases it's not just legal, but mandatory, for example, in education, in hiring and in Academy Award nominations.

So for half of Rev. Wright's 66 years, discrimination against blacks was legal -- though he never experienced it personally because it existed in a part of the country where he did not live. For the second half of Wright's life, discrimination against whites was legal throughout the land.

Discrimination has become so openly accepted that -- in a speech meant to tamp down his association with a black racist -- Obama felt perfectly comfortable throwing his white grandmother under the bus. He used her as the white racist counterpart to his black racist "old uncle," Rev. Wright.

First of all, Wright is not Obama's uncle. The only reason we indulge crazy uncles is that everyone understands that people don't choose their relatives the way they choose, for example, their pastors and mentors. No one quarrels with idea that you can't be expected to publicly denounce your blood relatives.

Obama has made most Whites begin to question (in their minds) even MORE blacks around them about their “feelings.” He’s kind of mugged us in public what with his support of the racy pastor’s “church.” Black Liberation Theology seems to call for death to whitey......and, we’re supposed to just ignore the ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM???

Race? Everybody should have some. Don't leave home without it.( Divide and conquer America. Its already begun.)

Obama is the Anti-christ, and he should be tossed into the nearest racial political inferno of his own making.

Obama is trolling for David Duke and the KKK, so he can make a press splash.

Hooray for Ann Coulter for saying what needs to be said in an OUTRIGHT DIRECT manner and not in the namby-pamby way that I’ve heard so much of. It’s very, very simple for me, and should be even for those sitting on the fence and even for Obama’s hopelessly stupid and naive WHITE supporters.... JUST DON’T VOTE FOR HUSSEIN OBAMA!!!!!!!! Both democrat candidates are the most UNQUALIFIED, inept and potentially dangerous to EVER be in contention for the most important office in the world. What in the hell are we thinking of in this country to let these two cartoon characters get this far? I should say WHAT IN THE HELL ARE THE democrats THINKING ABOUT??????? The whole thing is just positively INSANE!!!!

It’s quite clear that whole attempt by white America to ameliorate black anger over slavery and Jim Crow via welfare, Affirmative Action, quotas, etc, has been a huge, expensive failure. Blacks will never get over it while it pays such great dividends.

Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan of NY called it in the 60s. Best thing to do with the African Americans is to treat them with benign neglect. Besides there aren’t enough black voters to decide either the nomination primaries or the general election. Hispanics are where the votes are at.

I too have had my fill of race talk. Chairman Ann's right we've spent an entire lifetime doing nothing but hearing about black resentments towards America. How much more can we take? Enough already!

There is always something that never seems to get pointed out on the racial issue, and I wish it were. It is simply this: liberals get the support of Fundamentalist Blacks by making absolutely no demands on them whatsoever to alter their fundamentalist religious beliefs. By contrast poor whites are supposed to become a combination of Voltaire and Charles Darwin or else be branded as sub-human. Does anyone suppose for a moment that if the Left spat on the religious beliefs of Fundamentalist Blacks they way they do on the identical ones of whites that they would have any Black support at all?

Notice also that even when "liberation theology" is presented to Blacks it is never secularized but presented in traditional Fundamentalist style. Theoretically one could make the same offer to poor whites, but if poor whites want to be "liberated" they are told they have only one choice: stop being religious. Or at least stop being religious fundamentalists. The Left lectures poor whites constantly about the supremacy of reason and science to the paranoid delusions of religion. Wake up and smell the coffee. So why is it that poor whites are not radicalized by mixing Marxism with fundamentalism? It would work much better than constantly alienating them, would it not? And certainly the Left's dedication to science and secularism can't be so total if they use fundamentalist religion to appeal to other oppressed groups. So why are poor religious Blacks appealed to while poor religious whites are told they must become secular at once?

You know, maybe it does work. Maybe poor religious Blacks and poor religious whites are supposed to be on opposite sides, fighting each other. At least the constant babying of one group fundies and the constant alienation of another logically and inevitably leads to this. Maybe the people who do it aren't stupid at all?

And I'm not talking about the Illuminati or David Rockefeller here people! Marxism is based on Hegelianism, and Hegelianism requires a "struggle" between two opposed forces. The entire human race isn't supposed to join together even in the struggle for socialism. There has to be a bad guy. If one does not exist it must be created. Who can doubt that every street Marxist worth his salt doesn't intentionally support one fundamentalism and attack the other explicitly to help usher in "the end of history?"

In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries Irish freedom was a huge radical cause. Many Irish nationalists were Marxists. And many of them were thoroughly devout Catholics. Speeches were even made and pamphlets printed to assure the Irish that they need not amend their religious beliefs in order to serve as the Marxist/Hegelian "thesis." Meanwhile you can be sure that poor religious English were told to hate their religious heritage and discard all their religious beliefs at once. So this thing has happened before (and for a bunch of whities, at that!).

Honestly: do radical Black clergy even learn about the Documentary Hypothesis in seminary? Or are they shielded from it to keep them from bolting?

I had always thought that if anything could help black youngsters turn their lives around, it was the black churches. Now I’m wondering if they aren’t a major part of the problem.

I have come to the sad conclusion that the American Black Protestant church is our counterpart of the Armenian Church--as a result of historical oppression it has completely subjugated theology to national identity to such an extent that "the church is the nation." Worship and exaltation of the victim nation takes the place of the worship of G-d. And historically, despite being a Non-Chalcaedonian church, the Armenian Church was in communion with no other church on earth (even the strange Ethiopian Church was under the Coptic Church of Egypt and through it with the Syrian and Jacobite Indian churches).

It's a most interesting comparison.

Obama hinted that we might have one way out: If we elect him president, then maybe, just maybe, we can stop talking about race.

Not a chance. He and his surrogates would play the race card everytime someone critizes something he says. It would be horrible and divisive, but when have the dems ever cared about that?

Obama felt perfectly comfortable throwing his white grandmother under the bus. He used her as the white racist counterpart to his black racist "old uncle," Rev. Wright.

He had a perfect opening here that would have made the reference to Granny not only reasonable but admirable.

Granny is scared of young, thuggish-looking black men. BOH could have pointed out that Granny has damn good reason to be scared, and what does it say about black people that old women are quite rationally frightened of them? That an unfortunate number of young black men prey on old women? How embarassing is that?

We are always supposed to understand and make allowances for the legitimate grudges and fears of black people. But nobody ever attempts to understand and makes allowances for the at least equally valid fears and grudges of many white people.
