Before Wright Firestorm, Obama Called for Imus Firing
FoxNews.com ^ | 3/18/08

Barack Obama had been a presidential candidate for more than a year before he outright repudiated his long-time pastor for racially charged, anti-U.S. sermons. But when talk show host Don Imus was in hot water 11 months ago for racially insensitive comments, Obama was the first candidate to call for his firing. When asked about the different responses to his pastor and to Imus, Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor questioned the premise of the comparison and defended Obama’s response in each case. “He spoke out both times, so it’s entirely consistent,” he told FOXNews.com Tuesday.

Obama — who in a major speech Tuesday decried controversial remarks by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. dating back to 2001 — called for Imus to be fired just one week after Imus made the remarks in April 2007, two months after Obama had announced his candidacy. “There’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude,” Obama told ABC News in an April 11 interview. Imus ignited public outcry for calling members of the women’s basketball team at Rutgers University “nappy-headed hos” on his popular morning talk show. [Imus'] public atonement wasn’t enough to save his job. He was fired by CBS Radio and by MSNBC... “He didn’t just cross the line,” Obama said. “He fed into some of the worst stereotypes that my two young daughters are having to deal with today in America.” In the case of Wright, Obama denies ever personally hearing his pastor give sermons that blamed the U.S. government for HIV and cast the country as institutionally racist. But Obama has had a 20-year relationship with Wright...

I am glad someone picked up on this. This thing has legs and will walk in Obama's shadow all the way to Denver:

We keep expecting Obama defenders to be honest and face facts (what Wright said, and when, and what Obama did, or did not do, and when).

Why?

He is a messianic figurehead — only belief is required.

They will dig their heels in deeper into the denial.

What counts is how this plays with the so-called “middle” that will vote in a private polling both.

His comment was,
(A) Sloppy
(B) Tragic
(C) Taken out of context
(D) A personal view that does not reflect his political view
(E) Meant to be a topic of open discussion and nothing more
(F) Any reason that the MSM can muster to dismiss the topic entirely

In the case of Wright, Obama denies ever personally hearing his pastor give sermons that blamed the U.S. government for HIV and cast the country as institutionally racist.

This is prima facie ludicrous. Perhaps Obama wasn't present in the congregation to hear the sermons we've seen on television when they were first recorded, but the likelihood is zero that he hadn't seen their DVD versions long before we did. The DVDs were on sale in the church, and there's no way that Jeremiah Wright, who is proud of those sermons, would have failed to invite Obama to view the DVD. Wright probably had Obama and his family over to his home for a nice meal and then previewed the DVD sermons for them afterwards. A man like Wright would want to show off for his star congregant.

What a racist double-standard.

Now, Sean Hannity needs to get hold of this, as does Bill O’Reilly.

This thing has legs..wait'll Rush runs with the Imus angle tomorrow.

What gets me is that he claimed he didn't want his daughters to hear the stereotypes from Imus....but I guess stereotypes of whites from Wright are just fine and dandy. Lets see....his girls probably didn't even know who Imus was...but his girls sat in Wright's church. Yeah, I can see why Obama banned Imus and not Wright. (sarcasm)

Obama is both a hypocrite and a communist. No surprise, these two traits always exist together.

there was a poll done over the weekend.....I don’t recall which organization put it on, but it was within the black community and it found that 29 percent of the respondents said that they would be more likely to vote for Obama knowing of his involvement with Jeremiah Wright and seeing Wright’s sermons, vs. 18 percent who said they’d be less likely to vote for Obama.

53 percent said there would be no change. A fair reading of which might be that half of that number would be with the 29 percent but that they’d prefer not to be identified with them - or if nothing else they might have determined they would vote for Obama long ago simply because he was black and they couldn’t care less what he believes in.

Regardless, you’re looking at a good half the black population based on those numbers which is by no means offended by Jeremiah Wright’s sermons, much less finds factual fault with them. In other words, a good half of the black community is poisoned with sedition, or worse, and as such is largely beyond redemption as a responsible polity.

Given that, one wonders whether the white community won’t begin to oberve this and wonder whether it really has an obligation to the black community anymore as it has been harangued over the years. If all the affirmative action, forced busing, cultural accomodations, high taxation and Mau-Mauing of racism over the past 30-40 years have merely brought us Jeremiah Wright’s bleatings in our face which we are required to accept - will white America continue to tolerate this? Or will some of the white guilt that so much of modern liberal dogma depends on melt away like so much burning wax?

I honestly can’t say. But I can say that I expect over the next year or so you’ll see a hell of a lot less inclination toward political correctness on the part of white people who decide that they frankly just don’t give a $hit anymore and have judged that at the end of the day it won’t hurt them individually to speak their minds.

We must think about his daughters.

Obama as an adult may be able to take or leave what the pastor says each week, but his daughters do not yet have that maturity to be able to evaluate hate rhetoric effectively. Obama has allowed their minds to be poluted, he’s allowed them to be brainwashed.

Obama more than allowed it. He brought them there to receive it. A parent would only expose their children to such rage and hate if they shared the same views.

The unmistakable nature of this church which preached Marxist black separatist liberation theology is the elephant in the room. That Obama has been mentored by communists throughout his life shows a pattern of political ideology that cannot be glossed over by shifting the focus on race. In fact it is the fanning the flames of race that is just the tactic taught to Obama by communist Saul Olinsky, that Jeriamiah Wright employed in his church. According to Olinsky:

The agitator's job is first to bring folks to the “realization” that they are indeed miserable, that their misery is the fault of unresponsive governments or greedy corporations, then help them to bond together to demand what they deserve, and to make such an almighty stink that the dastardly governments and corporations will see imminent “self-interest” in granting whatever it is that will cause the harassment to cease.

We are at a dangerous moment in our nation's history. We have a communist as a presidential nominee who knows the technique for fanning racial hatred and, through experience and example, is capable of using such techniques himself to further his Marxist agenda.

Dr. M.L. King aught to be spinning in his grave.

If the shoe were on the other foot, this kind of talk would not be tolerated
from whites. Growing up in Mississippi in the 1950’s and 1960’s I would see
white demagogues try to keep the fires of racism burning in order to gain
political advantage. It was really a sick thing to see, but that kind of
thing begin to die out in the early 1970’s. People like Gov Ross Barnett
and Gov George Wallace turned their positions and started to draw people
together. Things got better.

Last year with the Memphis city elections the same thing blatantly came
back into being as fostered by the incumbent Mayor. This is probably not
new but it was really visible in this particular campaign. Things are bad
once again. I really don't know how it can be reversed. Now that we have
political correctness replacing the First Amendment, constructive dialog
has been destroyed.

Jeremiah Wright will not be held accountable for his words, but his
parishioner, Mr. Obama, may be washed out of the presidential race.
Whether anything will be learned by course of events is yet to be seen. And
it probably won't.

Obama, his racist Pastor and fellow congregates in EVERY “church” that preaches the “Black Liberation Theology”, have done society a favor..

They’ve FINALLY lifted the lid off the toilet of black racism in America - and shown themselves to be the stereotypical racist $#%^&%$^# they claim to fear, who have been “holding them back”.

Blacks themselves - ESPECIALLY those who search everywhere for the answer to their failure except within themselves and their community, are their own worst enemy.

They’ve harmed themselves far more that any KKK could have dreamed.
