Well, we knew the liberal MSM would come out in favor of their chosen one, and they didn't disappoint:
There are moments increasingly rare in risk-abhorrent modern campaigns when politicians are called upon to bare their fundamental beliefs. In the best of these moments, the speaker does not just salve the current political wound, but also illuminates larger, troubling issues that the nation is wrestling with.Inaugural addresses by Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt come to mind, as does John F. Kennedys 1960 speech on religion, with its enduring vision of the separation between church and state. Senator Barack Obama, who has not faced such tests of character this year, faced one on Tuesday. It is hard to imagine how he could have handled it better
[...]There have been times when we wondered what Mr. Obama meant when he talked about rising above traditional divides. This was not such a moment.
[...]Mr. Obamas eloquent speech should end the debate over his ties to Mr. Wright since there is nothing to suggest that he would carry religion into government.
Whoakay then. End the debate? You just can't make this stuff up.
Not sure which speech those writers at the NYT's watched but the one I watched bore no similarity to the one they're describing. To me the whole damn thing sounded like an admittance of the fact that Wright is a angry black man, his anger is justifiable, and that was one of the reasons he sought him out as a mentor anyways because there IS injustice in this country towards the black race and Obama is the man to fix it.
Fix it by acknowledging it and then ensuring that the poor and downtrodden become even more dependent on the Government.

"ELOQUENT, BUT OUTRAGEOUS"!!!!
First, he proved himself to be a blatant liar! He had claimed prior to this speech that he had only heard one or two comments. Now he admits he DID attend some of those racists rants. HE IS BY HIS OWN WORDS--A LIAR.Second, he refused to disassociate himself from Wright. That in itself is outrageous.
Third, he attempted to defend Wright's comments by asking everyone to put Wright's comments in the "BLACK PERSPECTIVE"!!That is absolutely outrageous--and it is an indirect endorsement (back door) of the hate and venom that was spewed there and other black churches.
Fourth, he insulted everyone listening by saying that he could not disassociate himself from his GRANDMOTHER--therefore, he could not disassociate himself from his Pastor either. How outrageous can you possibly get?
I guess that Obama has never heard the phrase, "YOU CAN PICK YOUR FRIENDS--YOU CANNOT PICK YOUR FAMILY"!
The entire speech was "ELOQUENT, BUT OUTRAGOUS"!--basically telling the white community, "That's just the way black churches are--DEAL WITH IT"!
He blew a once in a lifetime opportunity to ask EVERYONE to stop spewing venomous, racial hatred (as he is uniquely qualified to do just that) by demanding the black churches and pastors take the lead in promising to STOP IT RIGHT NOW. However, he 'took the low road"--as decided not to. How sad.
Well, I will continue to remain solid and steadfast about my optimism towards
my fellow Americans and friends, no matter how difficult it may be.
Prayer helps.
Obama Speech: 'A More Perfect Union'Looking at the current comments on this YouTube video, I do -not- see the negative comments you saw. I see only fawning comments:

I hate it that any of this was made an issue right now....
This should have been saved for a few months from now. Obama can be easily beaten, but I’d love to see him take out Hillary first. Until then, we should keep our powder dry on Obama and let them beat each other to death until he wins. At that time, THEN we can go after him.
Handled it better? Sen. Obama equated his grandmother with an anti-semitic racist whose public rants have demeaned this country.
Sen. Obama refused to leave the church where Jeremiah Wright serves as senior pastor.
Sen. Obama did not address the significant areas of agreement between his and Wright's public positions, such as on the war in Iraq.
Too late. The damage is done.
It's cheaper if you buy in bulk...
"As this is a younger crowd, I think he may have lost a great part of the under 25 crowd."
Well, that's a little encouraging anyway. I hope that attitude spreads far and wide. I was really crestfallen yesterday when I heard almost every talking head out there praising Obama to the skies. Saying how this speech was the sign of a true leader and he only reinforced everyone's impression that he was just what we need in our next president. Even those who are backers of Hillary were not stinting in there accolades."
"Sen. Obama equated his grandmother with an anti-semitic racist whose public rants have demeaned this country."
That jumped out at me! Unless, Obama's grandmother was preaching bigoted, hate filled, anti-American sermons to large white congregations, it was a completely nonsensical comparison. But of course every stupid pundit that got his hands on a microphone yesterday thought it was brilliantly balanced.
I'll just tack on that he did "pick" his Grandma. He picked her up and tossed her under the bus by suggesting she was "racist" in his speech last night.
Thanks alot, "Grandson"...

I ran into to this tactic the other day
while trying to respond to a pro-Wright video
with a simple quote from Brooker T. Washingtom
It was a good speech, and Obama is in fact a very intelligent man. These are good human qualities. And yes, he has an interest in pushing this mindset, he is in fact, a black man. So what?
However, I did no see one single post that dug up the root issue and addressed it. That is, how could anyone sit in church every Sunday with this man for 20 years and not be sympathetic to his views. If Obama is in fact as intelligent as we all think, and he truly disagree with the Rev Wright, how could he justify taking his young and easily influenced children to listen to this tirade along with his wife? I thought he was more intelligent and evolved than that !
"For the first time in my life, I am proud of America"
Do we all remember those statement by his wife? What do you suppose were her underlying opinions of America and white people if she were making a statement like this? Knowing now what kind of sermon she listened to every week, what can we derive from these bits of information and seemingly inconsequential statements? And why would her husband, who sits right next to her in church every Sunday, think any differently?
We can write off Obama's refusal to pledge allegiance with his hand on his heart and we can discount his flat refusal to wear the standard lapel pin. But now that this is all public, can we come to any rational conclusions when we put all the information together? Although this conclusion would not hold up in a court as solid evidence, we all know what it adds up to, and in a campaign, we aren't required to reach a level of reasonable doubt and provide DNA evidence. You just have to have enough common sense and life experience to be able to reduce this all to it's true meaning. Personally, I believe Obama is a closet racist himself. I think he is surely sympathetic to the reverends views and at least in part, believes them himself.
He will continue to get the support of the black community because they know he can never be elected unless he also straddles the fence in order to lure in the moderate vote. They are willing to give him a pass on this for the sake of getting elected, but they know who he really is and what the other Obama feels.
The posts I read at DU are embarrassing. Almost every one of these people took the bait, and have now totally digested it and produced the exact response that Obama intended. They were distracted from the truth and real meaning of this entire fiaco, it was swept under the rug and now they just have to wait for it to fade.
Unfortunately for them, I don't think this is going to happen, this is an albatross that even Bill Clinton couldn't shake, in my humble opinion.

Aha - good explanations on the YouTube video comments - thanks!
Thanks for the advice. I almost passed out after his last speech. :-)
