Barack Obama is preparing to deliver a major address Tuesday on race, politics and unifying the country after being hounded by questions about his relationship to a pastor whose sermons have been laced with anti-American invective.
In a speech whose religious significance could compare to one given in December by former GOP presidential hopeful and Mormon Mitt Romney, Obama may be forced to explain the philosophy of the 8,000-strong Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, where the Democratic presidential candidate has been a congregant for 20 years.
In announcing the morning address, to be delivered in Philadelphia, Obama would not say specifically what he will discuss, but suggested he wants to cool down the atmosphere after incendiary remarks by his pastor, retired Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., blanketed the airwaves over the past week.

“Demanding more from fathers” ???
What fathers?
For realssssss?????
LOL
After hearing racist America hating Wright, I don’t want BO lecturing us about the hardships of blacks.
"Can't we all get along?"
Yup! I will have to put up a “speaker alert” tonight!
Has he blamed Bush yet?
I disagree. I think the liberal talking heads are going to LOVE this speech. For a few days- SOME libs were in the position of having to wonder about him- this speech has enough they can quote to cover for him.
“I dreamed last night that MCCAIN looked like Allen Jackson, and it woke me up out of a deep sleep, thinking............. now that would work.”
Yep, that would work! At least he doesn’t look like Uncle Fester! :)
OMG! Obama is blaming everybody but Wright!
Not to mention that Dennis Prager will most likely do the same thing - KRLA870AM. Same time as Rush, different channel.
Missed it.I am cursing now.He is getting on my nerves.
He is far from finished. He will get the Dem nomination.
The funny thing is, as the campaign went on, I found myself liking him. Not his policies, but the way he dealt with the many Hillary attacks. That is all gone. He is toast in a general ONLY if outside groups remind voters. McCain won’t.
Yep.
That part of the speech was supposed to show an even-handed empathy for the “white plight.” Instead it came off as preachy and critical of Reagan, conservatives, talk show hosts, etc.
He can’t help himself.
Now back to the old class warfare stuff.
The libs may, but for Indies like myself, sitting on the fence, this has pushed me into the McCain corner.
Kudos. Miami Vice on a FReeping thread.
The way it stops and starts on a dime indicates an applause light or something.
It seems that Obama has learned more from Rev. Wright than he cares to admit.
The undercurrent in this speech supports what Wright has been preaching.
Obama seems absolutely obsessed with race.
Yep.
