On February 17 2008, Al-Ekhlaas which is the largest terrorist forum on the internet published an Al Qaeda document that talks about the life of Abou Musaab Al Zarqawi and indicates that Zarqawi came to Iraq before the war to prepare the terrorist insurgency against the US troops. According to the document Zarqawi arrived to the Sunni areas in central Iraq. This document was written by one of Al Qaeda top leaders called “Saif Al Adel”.
There were many accounts about Zarqawi presence in Iraq before the war in particular in Northern Iraq with “Ansar Al Islam” an active Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist group that was present in the Kurdish areas of Iraq long before the war started. The document also proves that Ansar Al Islam helped Al Qaeda members establish themselves in Iraq before the war started.
The author of the document wrote that there were no relations between Saddam regime and Al Qaeda but this does not negate at all the most important fact that Al Qaeda was in Iraq before the war for the sole purpose of preparing for its most important front to fight the U.S and it is now in Iraq where Al Qaeda is suffering its most crushing defeat since its existence.
It is very important to note that despite the author of the document denial of a relationship between Saddam regime and Al Qaeda it does not mean that Saddam regime was not aware of Al Qaeda presence in Iraq. In fact the documents clearly points out that Zarqawi went to the Sunni areas in Central Iraq before the war and these areas were totally controlled and loyal to Saddam regime and it very hard to imagine that Zarqawi stayed and prepared his terrorist sleepers cells in these Sunni areas without the approval of Saddam regime.

… " We started the work and the contact with the leadership, and we began to support and help the leadership again, and this was our goal after we left Afghanistan. We began establishing the fighter groups. On one hand to return to Afghanistan and conduct planned operations there, and on the other hand we began to study the situation of the groups and bothers to find new places for them. After long discussions, brother Abou Mussab with his Palestinian and Jordanian companions decided to go to Iraq because of their dialects they can quickly mix and assimilate in the Iraqi society. Our analysis was that the Americans were going to make the mistake sooner or later to invade Iraq, that this invasion will lead to the fall of the regime, and that we should play an important role in the confrontation and resistance, and that this is our historical chance to establish the Islamic State who will have the biggest role in removing injustice and establish justice in this world allah willing. I was in agreement with brother Abou Mussab regarding this analysis. There were no relation between Al Qaeda and Saddam regime that is worth mentioning, as opposite to what the Americans are saying so they can create excuse and legal justifications according to their laws that they imposed on the world that is enslaved by the West, the Israelis and the Anglo-Saxons.
The plan was to have our brothers enter Iraq from the North, where the road is not controlled y the regime, and then go down South to the Sunni areas where we have some of our brothers. Also the brothers in “Ansar Al Islam” showed their willingness to give us any help to achieve this goal.
The Americans noticed that the Iranians were having a blind eye against our activities in Iran so they began a media attack against Iran accusing them of helping Al Qaeda and international terrorism. The steps taken by the Iranians had confused us and had caused 75% of our plans to fail. Many of our comrades were arrested. 80% of Abou Musaab Al Zarqawi group members were arrested. There should be a quick plan to arrange the escape of Zarqawi and the remaining of his group, the destination was Iraq and the route was the Northern borders between Iraq and Iran. The goal was to reach the Sunni areas in central Iraq and the beginning of the preparation to confront the US invasion and defeat it allah willing. The choice was not arbitrary but a studied one.
When he said goodbye to me leaving for Iraq, Abou Musaab has added a new dimension to his personality. This new dimension focused on punishing the Americans for the crimes that they committed in their bombing of Afghanistan and that he witnessed in his own eyes, the hate and hostility that Abou Mussab had for the Americans guaranteed to form new traits to Abou Musaab personality."

Its my view evidence that the Jordanian government has on Zarqawi training with Ansar Al Islam before this attempted attack makes this a slam dunk case. “the smoking gun”

I would argue the piece above refutes your charges and does infact present a case for detailed and substantial plans.
You underestimate their abilites by a very wide margin.
Apparently you forgot they carried out very sophisticated, multipronged and successful attacks on 9/11.
I don’t underestimate their abilities, I am criticising their understanding of the term ‘analysis’. They PLAN things, but they aren’t very good at analysis.
And no, I haven’t forgotten 9/11 and yes, they are a bunch of sub-retarded goons, regardless of any planning they get away with.

in Poland with the sheiks” that would help build a new jihadi organization to be
financed by sympathizers in Saudi Arabia. At one point, the visitor says, “We
are also waiting [for] the sheikh from Iraq”—an apparent reference, the
document asserts, to Mullah Krekar, the radical cleric believed to have been a
founder of Ansar Al-Islam. The document states that the conversation “clearly
demonstrated the intention to organize a new subversive international terrorist
structure ... that obeyed the decisions of Al Tawhid [Zarqawi’s organization
] for the commissioning of attacks.”

in contact with the representatives of the Zarqawi group and Ansar Al-Islam,”

Iraq Evidence Led Feds to Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. — Information found in Iraq led federal investigators to become suspicious of an Albany, N.Y., mosque leader, FOX News has learned.
Last summer, U.S. troops discovered Yassin Muhhiddin Aref’s (search) name, telephone number and address in a book left behind in a vacated terrorist training camp, a U.S. official told FOX News. The book also revealed that Ansar al-Islam, the group running the camp, had given Aref a title: “the commander.”
Aref also made several telephone calls to individuals in Iraq within the past year, the official said.
Aref, 34, is the Imam of the Masjid As-Salam mosque in Albany, N.Y. He and one other mosque leader were arrested Thursday and charged with helping an undercover informant posing as a weapons dealer who was plotting to buy a shoulder-launched missile that would be used to kill the Pakistani ambassador in New York City.
Aref and Mohammed Mosharref Hossain (search), the 49-year-old founder of the mosque and owner of the local Little Italy Pizzeria, were allegedly collaborating with someone who was not a terrorist but an informant participating in a sting operation; no missile ever was exchanged.

Earlier on Thursday, law enforcement officials said the men had possible ties to Ansar al-Islam, which has been linked to Usama bin Laden’s Al Qaeda (search) terror network. However, that link was not noted in court documents.
Ansar al-Islam (search) has claimed responsibility for a series of bombings, kidnappings and killings in Iraq, and has ties to the U.S.-led coalition’s most-wanted terrorist there, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (search).

Ansar al-Islam/Al Qaeda/Zarqawi. In the mid-1990s, the two main
Kurdish parties enjoyed good relations with a small Kurdish Islamic faction, the
Islamic Movement of Iraqi Kurdistan (IMIK), which is headed by Shaikh Ali Abd-al
Aziz. Based in Halabja, Iraq, the IMIK publicized the effects of Baghdad’s March
1988 chemical attack on that city, and it allied with the PUK in 1998.
A radical faction of the IMIK split off in 1998, calling itself the Jund al-Islam
(Army of Islam). It later changed its name to Ansar al-Islam (Partisans of Islam).
This Ansar faction was led by Mullah Krekar, an Islamist Kurd who reportedly had
once studied under Shaikh Abdullah al-Azzam, an Islamic theologian of Palestinian
origin who was the spiritual mentor of Osama bin Laden. Ansar reportedly
associated itself with Al Qaeda and agreed to host in its northern Iraq enclave Al
Qaeda fighters, mostly of Arab origin, who had fled the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan
in 2001. Prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom, during which its base was captured,
about 600 primarily Arab fighters lived in the Ansar al-Islam enclave, near the town

of Khurmal.4 Ansar fighters clashed with the PUK around Halabja in December
2002, and Ansar gunmen were allegedly responsible for an assassination attempt
against PUK prime minister Barham Salih in April 2002. Possibly because his Ansar
movement was largely taken over by the Arab fighters from Afghanistan, Krekar left
northern Iraq for northern Europe. He was detained in Norway in August 2002 and
now lives there under varying degrees of official restriction.
The leader of the Arab contingent within Ansar al-Islam is said by U.S. officials
to be Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, an Arab of Jordanian origin who reputedly fought in
Afghanistan. Zarqawi has been linked to Al Qaeda plots in Jordan during the
December 1999 millennium celebration, the assassination in Jordan of U.S. diplomat
Lawrence Foley (2002), and to reported attempts in 2002 to spread the biological
agent ricin in London and possibly other places in Europe. In a presentation to the
U.N. Security Council on February 5, 2003, Secretary of State Powell tied Zarqawi
and Ansar to Saddam Hussein’s regime, which might have viewed Ansar al-Islam as
a means of pressuring Baghdad’s Kurdish opponents. Although Zarqawi reportedly
received medical treatment in Baghdad in May 2002 after fleeing Afghanistan, many
experts believed Baghdad-Ansar links were tenuous or even non-existent; Baghdad
did not control northern Iraq even before Operation Iraqi Freedom.5 Zarqawi’s
current whereabouts are unknown, although some unconfirmed press reports indicate
he might have fled to Iran after the fall of the Ansar camp to U.S.-led forces. Some
recent press accounts say Iran might have him in custody.6 U.S. officials have said
since August 2003 that some Ansar fighters, possibly at the direction of Zarqawi,
might have remained in or re-entered Iraq and are participating in the resistance to
the U.S. occupation, possibly including organizing acts of terrorism such as recent
car/truck bombings (see below). One press report quotes U.S. intelligence as
assessing the number of Ansar fighters inside Iraq at 150.7 Ansar al-Islam is not
listed by the State Department as Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
