A tornado has been reported in downtown Atlanta...some injuries.
Yes He is. “heavenly Father”....you have a problem with God being a Father?
Got it... I appreciate the help. :)
I’ve been watching the video and can tell they are all in a small area there (from the maps, and the actual video).
I feel so fortunate. The storm hit about a mile north of us. We never lost our lights, but large areas of Atlanta without power.
As we Irish say, "Bless your eyes".

Notes from an update a moment ago:
Grady Hospital
8 people to grady - 1 in Critical Condition
at least 1 to Atlanta(? - not sure on the exact name) Medical Center
Several people injured outside the Georgia Pacific Building - reports of Lacerations from broken glass.
Cotton Mill Lofts - 1 Firefighter reported injured, perhaps a resident as well.
Georgia Power - 19,000 people without power in the Atlanta Metro Area. A lot near NOK/Ashby street area.
Meteorologist saying this was most likely a tornado when looking at the maps and where the damage reports are coming in... Consistent with the path of a tornado.
Absolutely.
Shall God continue to have mercy on our nation? I pray so every day.
No - they really did just evacuate the GA Dome.
The change in pressure from the tornado busted the plumbing and some of the stairwells are flooding.
I am trying to get some screen caps from my Tivo of local news. If I can manage it I will post some images.
The damage is absolutely incredible.
It looks like another bad cell is developing and headed toward the northern part of the city.
Atlanta does not have a history of or reputation for looting, riots etc.
I’m saying there’s zero discernable evidence there’s anything controlling natural disasters other than physical processes that are largely understood in the broad sense, and largely random back luck in the specifics.
Given damaged areas and buildings of a certain nature (Muslim countries, disliked organizations, left-leaning cities) people seem to be rather quick in gloating speculation about the will of God, etc. (Has been seen multiple times over the years in multiple situations.)
When it isn’t one of the above, people are notably silent.
The simple reality is the earth has had earthquakes for billions of years, tornadoes for billions of years, and will continue to have them, and the quakes will mostly be on pre-existing fault lines that have been around for millions of years, and the tornadoes will occur in regions where you get strong high-latitude cyclones with input of warm moisture. This has all happened before there were any humans. Said humans have built cities in these locations, and the quakes and tornadoes will keep happening, and it will not matter jack squat whether the residents of those areas are atheists, Christians, Muslims, or Hare Krishnas, or whether they ban or legalize abortions, etc.
Then why was everyone prevented from leaving? At least that what they reported from the floor of the Georgia Dome live at the SEC tourney.
That was it?
Sue, go back to sleep...
Just saw the first TV photos of the downtown damage - major debris, glass, overturned cars...on ABC news update....
Am glad the weather guys are finally saying it WAS a tornado...there were spotters and a LEO who said they SAW the funnel cloud - one from 10th floor of bulding near where the tornado came though....bet he wishes he had a cell phone or something to take a picture since it appears he was not believed....
Is that the one that’s over LA/MS right now? I don’t know how long it will take for that system to get over here, and I’m hesitant to go to bed...Although we’re in Douglas County (SW of the city) we do get some severe wind and last week or so a tornado hit a Kroger and tore the back off some homes in a not-too-far-away subdivision.
What’d you say to get a comment removed??
That was over 2 hours ago. They finished the Bama-Ms. State game and started playing the UK-UGA game.
Then the place started flooding. I am watching it right now on WSB. The UK-UGA game has been postponed.
Water is streaming down stairs and escalators inside the place...all due to the pressure change associated with the twister. This was a BIG tornado.
FR mail to ya...
*sigh*, another broken water main, there goes my last hope of a lifted outdoor watering ban... ;)
I'm now eating hunble pie of course.

Interesting. I figured it was a tornado. The weather man didn’t need to show that much to convince me... Horrible damage indeed.
