After Britain’s Profumo scandal, John Profumo devoted his life to working with poor people and he basically did penance for over 30 years. I wonder if Spitzer will do that?

This girl and Lewinsky ought to become PhDs in psychology, then open a clinic for the mental illness called liberalism. Whatever in the world made Spitzer think he could buy the silence of an entire criminal enterprise of prostitution? Especially after having come down hard on wrongdoers in his previous office. He must be crazy.

Sure. After a suitable "cooling off" period, a time for reflection and self examination, in a place where the "healing process" can "move forward," Spitzer will be ready to "open the next chapter" as a expert commentator on some cable news show. His insightful remarks will be a great help to "the poor."

Anything he does, by way of atonement, in his mind, will be done publicly, so that he can show everyone just what a wonderful person he truly is. Then he'll try to milk that for another political run in the future. He's THAT self-absorbed. I noticed that in his first speech on Monday, he apologized to his family, never even mentioning his wife, who was standing right next to him. He ought to be on the ground kissing her feet for putting up with his arrogant a$$! I know I wouldn't do it, but maybe she just liked the lifestyle and the opportunities it afforded their daughters. It is those daughters for whom I feel the most sorrow. They have to endure the public humiliation of their mother by their father.

The main reason the Profumo affair was a political scandal, was because Profumo was the War Secretary — and the call girl in question was the mistress of a Russian spy. (British politican and illicit sex -- the tabloids were already saturated with that type of story.) This was at the height of the cold war, and there were very serious security concerns.

If this story is properly investigated — we might see a web of connections come into focus. There are 50 prostitutes working for the “club”, and likely hundreds of clients — that means zillions of possible connections.
