Posted on 03/12/2008 9:39:08 PM PDT by Aussie Dasher
Former vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro, who is stepping down from Hillary Clintons finance team after telling a California newspaper that Barack Obama has been aided politically by his race, said Wednesday evening that the remarks were nothing more than a statement of fact.
Ferraro told FOX News shes leaving her unpaid post on the Clinton finance committee because she doesnt want the flap to become a campaign distraction, but blamed the fallout on Obamas operatives.
Somebody must have seen this (article) and said, Wow, this is really something we go after Ferraro, we go after Clinton, Ferraro said in an interview Wednesday night on FOX News Hannity & Colmes. They made this a divisive issue, not me.
Ferraro, who also is a FOX News contributor, she said she was simply exercising her First Amendment rights: It was a statement of fact nothing more, nothing less.
Word of Ferraros departure spread Wednesday afternoon following calls from Obamas team to restore civility by not letting the debate devolve into race-based arguments.
Speaking to reporters in Chicago, Obama said he didnt think the comments were racist, but he did call them ridiculous and wrong-headed.

Yes, she is, and Hilliary is apologizing for it. Shows where the ‘Rat Party is at.
After all, they can’t be supporting the Yellow Streak based on his negligible policy statements or experience. That leaves only his melanin.
Oh please...it’s a classic good cop, bad cop. She leaves the campaign and still gets to say it while Hillary disavows it. YAWN.
Right. And I will bet my bippy Ferraro will be paid under the table....she is not going to be really off the Clinton team at all. She did her job - she’ll be well paid by the Clintonistas.
I don’t recall posting anything about it not being scripted.
It’s not about race
It’s not about race
It’s not about race
(Don’t mind the Miss. election results)
Why doesn’t O. Hussein retort back and say about Hillary that the only reason she got to where she is, was because a.) of Bill Clinton. She said a vote for Bill Clinton was good for THE TWO OF THEM. b.) Because she is a women. Some women will support her for this.
Some black people like Orphah think it’s time for a black President. And the PC mindset of America has it so that no matter WHAT ideas O. Hussein has or doesn’t have, no one will see anything but his color. I doubt if he were WHITE/WHITE...he would have gotten very far at all.
Right you are! Else this truth teller would utter similar statements about Ms. Clinton. Another foul candidate.
They are desperate, they are angry, and they are mean spirited. Consequently, in true Clintonoid operating procedure, Barack Obama needs to be diminished, demeaned, and destroyed to deflect any attention to the fact that Hillary is pathetically unfit for office and does not have the demeanor nor comportment, character, nor experience to serve in the highest elected office of our great nation.
BooHoo, old hags, and nags.
He’s a former community activist married to a high powered lawyer lady with a chip on her shoulders.
A smalltime state senator.
Very brief US senator.
He’s done nothing.
He’s black and articulate in vague ways with preacherman cadence.
He appeals to blacks, and stupid guilty totally spineless whites.
He is where he is precisely because of his hue.
As is she for her gender.
I think we can kick either one’s ass.
Sorry...my post wasn’t aimed at what you said...it was just a general comment about the situation!
When a person signs up to be a Clintonista, there is no way to resign short of death, by one’s own choice or by theirs’.
Keith Oberfool really blasted Ferraro with his commentary on pmsnbc....what a bloviator. However the stir from DU
was ragging BIGTIME on GF.... good to see the Dems eating their own although the media twisters are turning America into a bunch of easily-offended thin-skinned wussies.
must make more popcorn.
As long as McCain doesn't try to pull a 'Hilliary' here:)
Hi. I rather suspected it was a setup, but wasn’t sure enough to commit to that opinion, myself:)
Im sorry, I said nothing negative, she told FOX News earlier Wednesday. I care about the black vote in this country. I really dont think this is right that they should attack me as racist.
She doesn't care about black people, but about the black vote. She just summed up the whole Demonrat attitude toward blacks.
