NEW YORK (CBS) ¯ Gov. Eliot Spitzer was not expected to continue as governor and may resign by Monday evening, sources told CBS 2, after it was reported that he was linked to a prostitution ring.

Reliable sources told CBS 2 Political Reporter Marcia Kramer that Lt. Gov. David Paterson could be sworn in as governor as early as 7 p.m. Monday.

all excellent points of course, but it was also recently announced that Spitzer was including, among many of his other outrageous plans, to expand the NY laws concerning abortion. He thought they were too restrictive and wanted them to be accessible up to date of birth and to include PBA.

Spitzer was ABOUT to become as big a criminal as Obama, and won’t get the chance.

FOX reporting he has been indicted.

I hope this is true. He is one of the worst tyrants since Gray Davis.

So - he has a liaison with a prostitue on Feb. 13th in D.C. I wonder what he gave his wife for Valentine’s Day this year? I sure would like to know if he was a cheapskate or gave her a big diamond necklace because of guilt feelings.

Is a governor who takes part in a prostitution ring more or less of a criminal than a politician who: ...

More of a criminal. None of the items you listed are against the law. You may not like it, but that's the way it is.

Strange. A dem caught in a scandal and is honorable enough to do the rights thing, i.e., resigning. Usually it’s only the Republicans who do this. Dems usually brush it off and go on their merry way.

Greta Van Susteren just said she has a copy of the indictment. Her show should be interesting tonight!

Just in about his ‘replacement’ Lt Gov. Paterson.........

Mr. Paterson’s gifts—penetrating intelligence, an immediate human connection and an inspiring story of overcoming near-total blindness—make him a natural running mate for the stiffer, privileged, decisive Mr. Spitzer. But the chaos that has followed him through public life makes him a natural choice in another way. Mr. Spitzer has a strong stomach for risk, and Mr. Spitzer’s campaign, according to Mr. Paterson, engaged in no real vetting of its lieutenant-governor candidate—a man who brings to the campaign a complicated relationship with the truth and a difficulty in saying no.

Something he hopes penicillian will take care of, no doubt.
