ALBANY - Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a high-priced prostitute at a Washington hotel last month, according to a person briefed on the federal investigation.
An affidavit in the federal investigation into a prostitution ring said that a wiretap recording captured a man identified as Client 9 on a telephone call confirming plans to have a woman travel from New York to Washington, where he had reserved a hotel room. The person briefed on the case identified Mr. Spitzer as Client 9.
Mr. Spitzer today made a brief public appearance during which he apologized for his behavior, and described it as a private matter.
I have acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family and violates my or any sense of right or wrong, said Mr. Spitzer, who appeared with his wife Silda at his Manhattan office. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public to whom I promised better.
That somewhere would be in a stall.
No MSM is running the (D) in their titles.
And most of Upstate!!!
YEE-HAW!
I think Governor Huggy Bear has a nice ring to it, don’t you?
Is he going to resign effective immediately, or is it one of those “I’m announcing that I am going to resign, effective next year” kind of things, like McGreevey in New Jersey?
At least Bubba doesn't have to pay for it. This guy is a real moron.
Great minds think alike...
He tried to close every crisis pregnancy center in NY state when he was AG. Tried to convict them of offering medical advice without proper licenses. Apparently he only succeeded against one; the others banded together and got a law firm that made mincemeat out of Spitzer.
Yes.
Apparently as a politician, he has to turn the vent fan switch on too while taking care of bodily functions on the terlet. ; )
PSSST, just don't tell HIM that and break his political spirit however for it would stifle him in doing the work of the people. /s
Dream Scenario... Spitzer casts the deciding vote at the Democrat National Convention... from jail.
WCBS Radio: OK... back to the traffic report.... I kid you not!!!!
Just another day in NY....
Were Vitter or Craig indicted?
Per FNC: Spitzer’s been indicted....
Spitzer apologizes to his family, says that politics is not connected to a single individual, and says he'll get back to us.
He's going to try to survive this. See if he can get millions of dumb New Yorkers to say "I don't see what's the big deal, it's all about sex! He's a good governor, so get off his back!".
Resignation would be part of his plea agreement, per Foxs news. They say he is a smart prosecutor and would not give it up before it was part of a deal.
The winning line was "Keep it in your pants". Everyone laughed when it was read but agreed it was the best.
It was written by a friend who was in charge of her church youth group.
However, it DOES manage to put the word Republican in the article twice!! We see this time and again.

NEW YORK - Gov. Eliot Spitzer, the crusading politician who built his career on rooting out corruption, has told senior advisers he was involved in a prostitution ring, The New York Times reported Monday.
Spitzer, who is married with three daughters, was scheduled to make an announcement Monday afternoon. Spitzer officials wouldn't immediately comment on the story, which cited an anonymous administration official.
The Times reported that a person with knowledge of the governor's role believes the governor is identified as a client in court papers. Four people allegedly connected to a high-end prostitution ring called Emperors Club VIP were arrested last week.
The Web site of the Emperors Club VIP displays photographs of scantily clad women with their faces hidden. It also shows hourly rates depending on whether the prostitutes were rated with one diamond, the lowest ranking, or seven diamonds, the highest. The most highly ranked prostitutes cost $5,500 an hour, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said the defendants arranged connections between wealthy men and more than 50 prostitutes in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, London and Paris.
The Times reported that the governor's travel records show he was in Washington in mid-February, and that one of the clients arranged to meet with a prostitute on the night of Feb. 13.
The case is being handled by prosecutors in the Public Corruption unit of U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia's office. Garcia spokeswoman Yusill Scribner said the office had no comment.
Spitzer, 48, built his political legacy on rooting out corruption, including several headline-making battles with Wall Street while serving as attorney general. He stormed into the governor's office in 2006 with a historic share of the vote, vowing to continue his no-nonsense approach to fixing one of the nation's worst governments.
Time magazine had named him "Crusader of the Year" when he was attorney general and the tabloids proclaimed him "Eliot Ness."
But his stint as governor has been marred by several problems, including an unpopular plan to grant driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and a plot by his aides to smear Spitzer's main Republican nemesis.
Spitzer had been expected to testify to the state Public Integrity Commission he had created to answer for his role in the scandal, in which his aides were accused of misusing state police to compile travel records to embarrass Senate Republican leader Joseph Bruno.
Spitzer had served two terms as attorney general where he pursued criminal and civil cases and cracked down on misconduct and conflicts of interests on Wall Street and in corporate America. He had previously been a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, handling organized crime and white-collar crime cases.
His cases as state attorney general included a few criminal prosecutions of prostitution rings and into tourism involving prostitutes.
In 2004, he was part of an investigation of an escort service in New York City that resulted in the arrest of 18 people on charges of promoting prostitution and related charges.
I wonder if we are watching an opening battle in the up coming civil war this August at the DNC convention in Denver?
OUTSTANDING!!!!!! May this shake the RAT party to its very foundations. Culture of corruption, indeed.
