Jury acquits man arrested in same bathroom sting as Sen. Larry Craig

A Minneapolis man who was arrested in the same bathroom sex sting as U.S. Sen. Larry King convinced a jury that he should be acquitted.

The Boise Idaho Statesman reports that 39-year-old Vince Tuzon told the jury he was not guilty because the officer conducting the sting initiated the foot tapping.

Craig orginally pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, but then sought to withdraw his plea. A judge turned down his request, and that has been appealed to the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Craig pleaded guilty. Apparently this guy did not.

Besides, Craig had a much wider stance.

So Larry Craig is the catcher, not the pitcher?

No *wonder* the Republican'ts in D.C. are always having it stuck to them by the Democrats.

It's the only role they're used to.

Cheers!

I never had to pay attention to what my feet did when I was sitting on the throne in the men’s room. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

I once got propositioned by a gay student in high school. 35 years later, it dawned on me what had happened. He was lucky I didn’t understand it back then.

So I guess Craig ain’t much of an attorney...and his time in the Senate has probably caused him to believe compromise makes problems go away?

The guys who pleaded guilty probably got a $50 fine.

This yahoo goes through the system, is found innocent (on a technicality), and is rewarded with his name plastered all over the Internet. That's called, "Winning the battle and losing the war".

You know, gitmo, I had a similar thing happen to me. Some 15 years after an incident, it hit me that I was being hit on by some guy, and at the time I literally had no clue whatsoever, and the guy had been so subtle that it went completely over my head.

And when I had that realization, I ended up thinking about the Senator Craig story. It hit me that in all the years I have gone to public restrooms, I never one time considered what was going on with the feet of the dude in the next stall, other than the occasional realization that some guy just sat down and so I should hold my breath.

I cannot imagine for the life of me how (A) any guy could be turned on by another guy, (B) especially in a bathroom stall. That is not in my DNA, nor does any foul noise or smell originating from a busy men’s room remotely attractive.

I watch Law and Order and they tend to base their program around real happenings. A couple of weeks ago they based it on Larry Craigs wide stance. LOL!

It’s just gross, it makes me nauseous.

And I can’t believe this guy is still a Senator and still part of the GOP caucus. If they can’t get rid of this guy - this is a slam dunk - what does it take? How low does the party go to keep a seat for a year and change? Is there a better way to guarantee that even the most rock-ribbed GOP district puts a Democrat in his office come the next election?

...U.S. Sen. Larry King

When did Larry King become a U.S. Senator?

I don’t understand what this guy was thinking. Why on earth would he have pled guilty if he was not guilty? He had to know that the guilty plea would be discovered.

The only thing dumber than pleading guilty was trying to take it back later.

He should have fought the charges from the beginning, and hired a dream team of attorneys and investigators, turning the tables on the sting and those involved. He could have had the charges dismissed or beat the case at trial.

Seriously, of all the things going on in the world, the police are running stings in airport bathrooms tapping their feet to people. Unreal.

That’s the one thing the media almost totally “forgot” to mention. This cop isn’t just sitting there waiting to be hit on, he’s the one who initiates the whole thing by his foot tapping or noises or whatever. The reason for the sting is allegedly to deter guys from looking for sex in these bathrooms so normal guys can take care of business without being unnerved by some pervert in the next stall hitting on them. Unfortunately, Mr. Straight and Narrow who’s being hit on by the undercover cop, doesn’t know he’s an undercover cop, so it kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing

so you want men having sex in airport bathrooms? I’m just as happy the police crack down so when I bring my son to the bathroom we do not have to see this. I don’t want to see people smoking crack is public bathrooms either..whether they are Democrats, Republicans or whatever

Craig got what was coming to him. What he does in the privacy of his own home with consenting adults is his business but keep it out of public places

even before being enlightened on homo behavior in public bathrooms by this incident I think my response if someone stuck their foot under my stall would have been “what the f&@k do you think you are doing!!”

An iPod in a public restroom could be a dangerous combination. You could unknowingly tap your way into trouble.

Nobody wants that. Though, I've been to a lot of airports and have used a number of restrooms over the years. Before this Craig incident it had never occurred to me that this sort of thing happens. Never even once have I seen anything in an airport restroom that was even the slightest bit suspicious. Not once.

I don't ever recall noticing anyone tapping their foot in the next stall, though even if they had I don't think I would have interpreted it as some kind of communication intended for ~me~ to respond to. Much less would I have thought it was some kind of come-on.

I still don't quite understand why airport bathrooms are such a big place for this stuff. People in airports are on schedules that are usually tight and unpredictable. They're also typically very busy. I don't see how a couple of guys could think they're going to get away with anything with that kind of traffic volume around. I don't get it.

One public bathroom you won't be bothered in ! This is from the Sofitel Hotel 2nd Floor Men's room in Queenstown, New Zealand. Even though you don't see in the picture, it is a fully enclosed room. No playing footsie ! Most bathrooms I seen in NZ had almost full length partitions and doors. There would be a 2 or 3 inch gap at the bottom and the top went much higher. There was a door frame that the door closed into, therefore, no cracks to peek through. I think American bathrooms can take a lesson on how bathrooms should be done.

This is the part of the bathroom. The sitdown toilets are in the next room - to the right of the gentleman using the urinal. I was there back on New Year's Day 2007. I drove that day from Dunedin to Queenstown. I dropped my personal items off at the YHA Hostel, parked the car and asked the person at the hostel desk where the strange bathroom was. I grabbed my camera and paid a visit !
