An open letter to Jim Robinson: Consider a general amnesty for all the banned Rudy supporters....
o

Posted on 03/05/2008 1:11:46 PM PST by ken5050

Dear Jim..OK, the GOP now has its candidate. McCain isn't the first choice of the majority of us on FR, and even now, there are spirited, yet for the most part, civil exchanges on the threads as to whether or not some will support the GOP nominee. One of the more unfortunate, and unpleasant events on FR was the mass banishment and/or leaving of a great many Freepers who were supporters of Rudy Guliani for the nomination. I'm posting this to see if you'd be open to the idea of inviting them to return, and see how others might feel about this.

I didn’t engage in any personal attacks. You should review the posts before making false accusations. I was one of those FReepers who rarely posted anything because of the hostile atmosphere created by those harpies. It wasn’t all about Rudy. It was about their long history of abusing FReepers, and disrupting FReeRepublic.

I didn’t mean you, specifically, I meant the anti-Rudy Jihadists. Unless you were one of them. The petty nasty posts that they made, in an effort to drown out any legitimate debate of issues, was really offensive, and I think that is what brought on any attacks from Peach and Howlin.

Here’s the real problem with Amnesty. Most of them were warned and warned and CHOSE the ZOT. Yeah, because they didn’t care or didn’t think it would last. Give them amnesty and you’ve set the standard for total Murderous Libel in your posts and if someone gets banned, ah, who cares, they will be back and all is forgiven. Do that, and any hope of real civility will be lost.. forever... gone.

Jim, they chose suicide, there is no honor due in suicide. Let them stay dead or clone some new screen names.

Word!

Howlin, peach, and their followers were drawn out by the anti-Rudy comments. But let’s not pretend that’s where it all began. They had a long history of abusing FReepers. They went to anti-FReeper sites (some of which they created themselves) and said some truly vile things about Jim Robinson, John Robinson, and various FReepers. At FR, they sucked up to anyone they thought they could get anything from, even though they had said really disgusting things about those same people at their anti-FReeper sites.

I don’t know who John Robinson is, and I don’t know what for what purpose any of those older Freepers could have “sucked up” to anyone. What would they get out of it?

I don’t remember anything nasty coming from Peach, Howlin, Area 51 or Cincinnatus’s Wife before the anti-Rudy or anti Mormon threads. The Jihadists on those threads wouldn’t let anyone have any legitimate discussion, and I blame them for giving us John McCain. There was a time when those anti-Mormon threads would not have been allowed on FreeRepublic.

Howlin could be a little forceful when she disagreed with you, but she didn’t really get personal. FreeRepublic just isn’t the same without the old Freepers. I would really like to have some of Cincinnatus’ Wife’s threads on Chavez right about now.

“Howlin could be a little forceful when she disagreed with you.”

Understatement of the year!

But I like her and want her back. She is a warrior, and we need warriors to fight off the Obama Steamroller and the Hildebeast Bullshiite!

With Howlin and the other banned posters, there was legitimate discussion, not just nonsense, aimed at shutting down the thread.

I think that the anti-Rudy and anti-Romney posters were ruining FreeRepublic. They should have been banned.

Think harder. Your memory is failing you.

We need them back here to help us fight against the Hillobama Beast. We especially need Howlin’ and Mad Ivan.

MadIvan can fight against the Dems from his own site. Unless he's banned from it again, of course.

ROFL...

I mentioned earlier, that I skipped all the threads with the anti-Rudy attacks, as well as the anti-Mormon threads.

You must have skipped all the threads before that as well if you never saw attacks from the aforementioned posters.

Getting banned from your own site has to be the definition of animals running the zoo. Thanks for that memory!

Cincinatus’s wife got into trouble by posting falsehoods like saying John Bolton had joined Rudy’s team. That was untrue and proven to be untrue.

There was more than that one. It could be part of the problem.

Very few are gone because they supported Rudy. They are gone by the extent they were willing to go to to support him.

Many are gone because they decided to throw themselves on the sword for Rudy. Truth is many are back in one way or another.

I don’t read whole threads if I’m not particularly interested, just the replies to me, and I never really had a problem.

The real problem came up when posters wanted to shut down threads that they disagreed with. That would be like me going on those anti-Mormon threads and just posting nonsense about Huckabee or personal attacks on posters and complaining to the moderators all the time about the responses that I got.

I’m pretty sure that we could have shut down some of those anti-Mormon threads if we had tried. They were pretty offensive.

And yet, the posters you cited above did just those sort of things. Little wonder they got the boot.

Was Mad Ivan really banned from his own site? LOL What did he get banned for?

That would be a bummer.
