Dear Jim..OK, the GOP now has its candidate. McCain isn't the first choice of the majority of us on FR, and even now, there are spirited, yet for the most part, civil exchanges on the threads as to whether or not some will support the GOP nominee. One of the more unfortunate, and unpleasant events on FR was the mass banishment and/or leaving of a great many Freepers who were supporters of Rudy Guliani for the nomination. I'm posting this to see if you'd be open to the idea of inviting them to return, and see how others might feel about this.
Since RadioAstronomer has been discussed on this thread, and mostly in a negative light, I want to say something about him.
He’s a friend of mine. He’s more than an internet buddy. We talk regularly on the phone.
Yes, he’s banned from this site. He got mad and said some things he wishes he hadn’t said. He used some bad language, and those posts couldn’t be allowed to remain up. He understands that, but you know what?
He didn’t make those posts out of the blue. He had been called a “death eater” among other things. His conservative credentials had been challenged despite his long posting history here.
Keep in mind that this is a man who has been working for 30 years in the defense of this country. He was directly involved in the response to 9/11. Besides being a brilliant guy, he’s a fierce patriot and a staunch conservative.
And you should know that RadioAstronomer did start a tribute thread at DC to T’witt, in which he said many glowing things about him. He didn’t have to do that, which tells you something about his character.
RadioAstronomer can’t set the record straight, but I can.
Just out of curiosity, did you befriend him on FR or did you know him before? I've never met any freepers in real-life other than ones I knew long before FR was even online, but there a bunch of you freaks I'd like to meet (you included. Anyone who can appreciate my ridiculous blog must be cool).
Then why have McCain and Crist been practically inseparable? They’re both global warming worshippers. Maybe they’re green friends. nauti, you still have the green charlie jpeg?

Gopachy has all kinds of Republicans, just like the RNC has lists of all kinds of Republicans.
Yep, a few are quite bitter about being banned from FR. Who has ever been banned from any political website that wasn’t just a bit ticked off at the time? And after?
Both sites want the same thing, a Republican in the Whitehouse after the President leaves office.
As you can see from my tagline, I’m hardly on the McCain bandwagon, and if you drop by that site you’ll see I take quite a bit of heat over it (I rarely use understatement, this is one of the few times....chuckle).
How a site operates is up to the owner of the site. Here at FR, over at gopachy, or anywhere else. I personally prefer a bit of verbal combat in these forums, so I come and go from FR on a fairly regular basis. I have no issues with how either site operates.
Just the view ‘from here’.

BTW, does anyone know what happened to Saber Tooth? He used to ping me years ago, then suddenly was gone. I don’t recall him making any controversial statements.

We’ve heard it all before, WAnkerville isn’t an anti-FReeper site, neither is Darwin Central, or Clown Posse, or Liberty Post or whatever else. Now you try to say that your big tent Kumbaya crowd isn’t either.
Are YOU a moderator at Big Tent RINOland? Because I find it insulting that you claim that there is not anti-FReeping going on there. Do you and your ilk really have such contempt for conservatives that you don’t think we can find the posts?

Almost every view on the site is tolerated to a point, as is here wagglebee.
I’m not denying there are some posters upset with being banned here, and yep, a few (relatively few as any link you display will demonstrate) are giving voice to their frustration (my opinion as to what motivates it) over at gopachy.
The common goal shouldn’t be lost however. Nobody on that site wants an Obama or Clinton administration beginning next year come january.
Some of us Conservatives are over there taking on the viewpoint Moderates are clinging to that they can win without us. Its insane, but til McCain addresses it, it will continue.
You should post some links. Clear the air so to speak.
Cause at the end of the day, its common cause time.

I have no idea. I just dropped by because both sites are now discussing this particular thread, and saw your question.
I first got to know RA here at FR. I don’t know how many years ago that was, but it seems like a very long time.
It’s always interesting to meet someone that you’ve known only over the internet and/or through emails. They always look a little different than you expected. And they have real voices. Of course, I bet I look funny to them, too.

It was said in jest, as Gopachy and the whereabouts on some members was in question, and yes, I have been posting there for months and I happen to think it’s a good site.

If you’re so concerned about the image and well-being of Free Republic, why would you believe that giggling at something childish and immature, would reflect well upon you, the originator of the “Bug Zapper” question, and the site itself?
Just how interested are YOU in making this site better? (Because from a newbie’s point of view, it seems like you and your posse, are intent on behaving like juveniles, as seen here.)
I don’t know much about the goings on at this site, but I do know that if the goal is to attract new participants and appeal to new users, your method isn’t working.
