An open letter to Jim Robinson: Consider a general amnesty for all the banned Rudy supporters....
o

Posted on 03/05/2008 1:11:46 PM PST by ken5050

Dear Jim..OK, the GOP now has its candidate. McCain isn't the first choice of the majority of us on FR, and even now, there are spirited, yet for the most part, civil exchanges on the threads as to whether or not some will support the GOP nominee. One of the more unfortunate, and unpleasant events on FR was the mass banishment and/or leaving of a great many Freepers who were supporters of Rudy Guliani for the nomination. I'm posting this to see if you'd be open to the idea of inviting them to return, and see how others might feel about this.

Why are you intent on trying to have me banned....I can’t belong and post two on sites?.....

I'm not trying to have you banned. I asked if you were a moderator at GOPachy, you have refused to answer.

You have stated that there is no anti-FReeping at GOPachy, that is patently false and I can provide links if necessary.

btw....I am not a liberal...I support the GOP nominee to keep the rats from taking the WH and to keep a rat from being CinC to my husband and son.

That's all well and good, voting GOP does not make someone a conservative. The Rooty Rooters seemed largely incapable of grasping the fact that conservatism and Republicanism are quite often at odds with each other.

Are you the official spokesperson for Free Republic? I assume you must be since you seem to know so much about the site and the direction its owner and founder wants to go in.

You also appear to keep tabs on the competition and/or critics, so I am assuming you’re acting in some capacity as advisor or consultant.

Please elaborate, thanks.

I really don’t understand how a group of people that wasn’t conservative to start with and has spent a year bashing conservatism will suddenly become conservative if they are allowed back. If anything, they will be even more bitter and more resistant to conservatism as evidences by this troll (who bears a striking resemblance to one of the founding WAnkers):

I'm not speaking for anyone but myself. Jim Robinson has made it perfectly clear that Free Republic is and always has been a conservative forum, we don't need to change direction.

I'm curious, what was YOUR pre-bug zapper name?

Are you still a mod at Elephant’s Graveyard? Or did you move over to Right Reason with the others?

Yes, I am a mod at GOPachy......we have a free and open policy re threads...some members have posted threads re FR.....but that does not make us an anti-freeper site since many of our members like to post at both places........Most of us cannot stand McCain.....but I personally cannot let a rat become CinC....I cannot do that to my husband , son and our military.....My husband is currently in Iraq on his 2nd tour...my son has just returned....

I wonder of he was a Rooty Rooter before he became a McCainiac. Things must get rather confusing over at Big Tent RINOland when they have to read the polls each day to decide who to support.

And as far as “swashbuckling” goes, I though trolls preferred clubs.

So as a moderator at Big Tent RINOland YOU feel it’s appropriate for threads like this?:

http://www.gopachy.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=5588&page=1

THIS isn’t anti-FReeping?:

Pabst Blue Ribbon: 4,500
Flannel shirts and feed caps: 3,300
Chrome mudflap ladies and “No Fat Chicks” bumper stickers: 1500
Tin foil: 15,000

Or THIS?:

System Administation and Programming 5,000 [JohnRob=$60K/year]
Administrative and Taxes 9,500 [JimRob=$114K/year]
Office Expenses, Rents, Insurance, Telephone, ISP, Supplies, Misc. 2,500 [Mrs. JimRob=$30K/year]

People on our site are allowed to post whatever they like....as long as it does not break our forum rules....I never said there wasn’t anti threads...I said as a whole we are not an anti site as we have a lot of members who enjoy posting at both sites...and unlike a lot of sites we have no hidden threads, everything is out in the open.....it seems you must spend a lot of time there....

Yep, and this IS NOT anti-FReeping as far as they are concerned.

Now, a MEMBER of this site can say, “I wasn’t a participant.” However, a MODERATOR does not share that luxury.

This sounds like a whole lot of "doublespeak" to me. You, as a moderator allow anti-FReep threads, but you're not an anti-FReep site.

Wow. I remember many of those folks (if they are using the same screennames) and thought some of them were pretty nice people. It’s disheartening to see them so bitter and nasty (liberal-like).

I think it re-affirms that FR is better without some of them.

I didn't like most of them BEFORE they were banned...

Many of your comments seem to be speaking for Jim Robinson, Free Republic, and some participants on the site.

I naturally assumed you were acting in an official capacity because you are extremely involved in this thread, and the previous thread we’ve been pointed to from last year.

You make dozens of appearances pertaining to “anti-freeping” and provide indepth knowledge of what is taking place at many of the splinter or competitor sites, which causes me to think you are deeply invested in the details.

I have no idea what Bug Zapper refers to, and have no other name, but it doesn’t surprise me that you would immediately go on the offense by being accusatory and suspicious of anyone who questions your motivations.(Thus creating the impression you are acting in an official capacity here. That, and the fact you ping Mr. Robinson to nearly every comment.)

If they return, I suspect that much of the regret some feel will disappear rather quickly when reality sets in.
