Dear Jim..OK, the GOP now has its candidate. McCain isn't the first choice of the majority of us on FR, and even now, there are spirited, yet for the most part, civil exchanges on the threads as to whether or not some will support the GOP nominee. One of the more unfortunate, and unpleasant events on FR was the mass banishment and/or leaving of a great many Freepers who were supporters of Rudy Guliani for the nomination. I'm posting this to see if you'd be open to the idea of inviting them to return, and see how others might feel about this.
Yeah, I say let’s ban the clueless Limbomaniac sheep who voted for the Beast yesterday.
“Some of the McCain supporters are getting nasty. A couple have falsely accused me of supporting Hillary, etc.”
There is a big difference between early supporters of Rudy at the beginnig of the process and early supporters of McCain at the beginning of the process - and people like me who supported Thompson, then went to Romney. Initially I wasn’t going to support McCain, but I will hold my nose and vote for him because Clinton and Obama are unacceptable to me.
I haven’t been kicked off of FR and the other 70% that are doing the same won’t be kicked off. I know JR totally disagrees with that position, but he is allowing leniency as I think he realizes there is a distinct difference between early supporters of pro abortion Rudy and late supporters of backstabbing McCain.
I despise McCain, but I despise Hillary and Obama more. That’s a principled position too.
Btw, I often wonder how all the Rudyphiles took Rudy (the only one who can beat the Dems)Giulianni imploding as fast as he did - and if they still think their antics were worth it.
...in fullness water brother.
Some people say that Jeb Bush might the the VP nominee. Better than sorry Charlie, but I would rather see a VERY strong conservative, like Duncan Hunter.
I think the iPodpeople are next.
I’d like to see Paperdoll get amnesty, but not McAmnesty. :)
I miss her the most.
I miss Paperdoll too.
That isn't what I was doing.
I mentioned RadioAstronomer in particular because this thread tonight was the first time I actually read the posts of his which got him in trouble; although he ultimately got the axe during the anti-Rudyite "bug-zapper" thread.
If you read the remainder of this thread, it seems like there were a LOT of folks who not only disagreed with the stated goals of FR, but did so in such a way that they felt that their whims for self-expression gave them the moral high ground to bite the hand that fed them.
To do so would ignore that the scientists were banned, some even who had not posted on FR in the previous six months to their banning.
Most of the the scientists I know of who were "controversial" went to Darwin Central; some of them who are gone opus'ed out or were banned following spectacular fireworks (such as RadioAstronomer and RightWingProfessor); some are still around here, but post relatively rarely (Physicist, b-sharp, doc30, Coyoteman, Ichneumon); some others now on DC self-opus'ed (KingProut). I wasn't around for much of the RWP thread, as I was vacationing in Alaska; but that's what I was told by others.
At the same time, I agree that the sudden 'disappearance' of Patrick Henry's homepage was probably not meant in a very friendly fashion.
I dont know if you want to come up with a theory for that or not.
No need to as I feel your assertion is flawed.
Courtesy *PING* to the others mentioned as your names appear on this post; no particular need to reply. At the same time it is only fair to note that I thought all of those pinged to this comment had been banned; I'm glad to see I was mistaken. :-)
Cheers!
I’m joining this thread late and haven’t read the whole thing yet but right off, many if not most of those “banned freepers” were already reinstated long ago even if they didn’t know it. Howlin, for example, was reinstated months ago.
"Well.... I got a note..."
Paperdoll was a true blue Duncan Hunter supporter!
Just look at her posts and explain how she got banned. I can’t figure it out.

Paperdoll is one of our most conservative posters, and very warm.
For the sake of my mental health, I had to swear off politics after the Republicans in Congress not only failed to require strict accountability for the vast sums flowing to post-Katrina LA, but heaped on their own “bridge to nowhere” type pork. However, the primaries have drawn me in and back to FR.
Other than Jim Robinson, no other person is more synonymous with FR in my mind than poster Howlin. Her last post was 4-22 on the 18,000+ megathread where so many bannings apparently resulted. Is it possible that Howlin, one of the all-time great FR posters imo, was banned? That seems inconceivable to me.
Arent the existing McCainiacs bad enough?
I'm with you! *shudder* why bring all that back again?
Would you want the Rudybots to come back?
I agree. Maybe the powers that be will allow a return.
I've got some bad news for you sunshine, before the autumnal equinox (probably before the summer solstice), I believe our beloved founder will get onboard with "Mc< insert your favorite derisive here >" is better than < insert dim nominee name here (Osbama is my guess.) > Juan McStain is who we brung to the dance.
No. This is a conservative forum.
It’s no place for anyone with those beliefs.
That being said, it’s up to “the powers that be” to choose who to allow to post here.
This is really, really funny!
