From a country that is just downright mean, I say to Michelle, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me!”

Michelle's right if she's talking about the Left.
She needs to get away from the Democrat Party (the Political Machine of the Left) and get out there among decent people, who are the opposite of mean, guided by fear, cynics, sloths, and complacents. Millions of Americans are decent and wonderful, but they are not to be found on the Left or in the Democrat Party.
If she follows this advice, Michelle's in for a pleasant surprise.

Note to Michelle: You are right - America is downright mean. But only to ideas that threaten our future and security. And that is why you perceive that we are “mean.” It is not the person, whether white, black, man, woman, whatever. It is the ideas that person has. And Democrats/Liberals such as you and your husband have ideas that will accelerate the demise of my country. Unfortunately, this forces me into being “mean.” And I am not a mean person (ask my wife). But when I and my fellow Americans who truly love this country and the freedoms it possesses get pushed into a corner by Democrats/Liberals/Socialists/Communists/Progressives, we have not choice - we will be mean.
That’s one pitiful, angry, 70’s racist black woman. I see a lot of good people around but, I don’t have blinders on. She most likely will die old, miserable and cranky.
