Obama Said U.S. Forces in Afghanistan Were Just Air-Raiding Villages and Killing Children
Blogs for John McCain ^ | 2/29/08 | Brian

In last Tuesday's Democratic Debate, Barack Obama admitted that he has not called a single meeting of a Senate Oversight subcommittee on Afghanistan that he chairs. He used the excuse that he has been "pretty busy running a campaign."

Now, his failure to be concerned enough about Afghanistan to call at least one meeting is going to really jump up and bite him. A quote published in the Washington Post of something Obama said last August (2007), denigrating the work of our brave U.S. Troops in Afghanistan, has surfaced:

"Asked whether he would move U.S. troops out of Iraq to better fight terrorism elsewhere, he brought up Afghanistan and said, 'We've got to get the job done there and that requires us to have enough troops so that we're not just air-raiding villages and killing civilians, which is causing enormous pressure over there.'"

Even the Democrat-friendly Washington Post said in the article about this comment, that "remarks he made later could add fuel to the criticism against him." They knew then that this statement would come back to haunt him.

Now, if Obama has the gall to accuse our troops of "just air-raiding villages and killing civilians" in Afghanistan, don't you think he should have been concerned enough to at least call a meeting of his oversight subcommittee to look into it? The evidence is mounting that Obama is not qualified to be Commander-in-Chief. I feel confident we have only seen the tip of the iceberg - the iceberg that just may sink the U.S.S. Obamamania.

Sounds a lot like the last senator who ran for president on the RAT ticket.

Yes, Kerry, the elite globalist, whose allegiance is to the world community, rather than to America.

I’ve said before that he’s an iceberg. Someone’s been reading posts again.

God have mercy on our troops if this man becomes their Commander-in-Chief.

Yep.

Same extreme liberal neo-socialist anti-American rhetoric as Kerry, complete with foot in mouth disease too.

Dems just love to run extreme left Senators don’t they?

And with such a great track record of winning with them too! LOL

I think this reflects badly more on the Democrat party than Obama himself. Obama just tells them what they want to hear. If a different message resonated with these people, he'd be saying that instead.

I would say if anything it is truly disgusting that there are so many anti-USA people living here now, so much so that Obama has a realistic shot at winning the presidency. Back in 1984, such a candidacy would have been (and was) laughed out of the election.

Perhaps we won't need God's mercy for our troops if this man becomes President as I'm not sure we will even have troops under a B. Hussein O. CinC.

"He used the excuse that he has been "pretty busy running a campaign."

But I bet he still collected his Senate paycheck. Wish I could tell my boss "Sorry I don't show up for work anymore but I'm working on a better job. Keep sending those paychecks though."

Be careful what you say. To use a Liberal’s own words and own record against them is to open YOURSELF to charges of bigotry, hatred, hate speech, deceit, taking spoken words out of context as well as generally being a not nice person. Makes you feel good doesn’t it?

Good post. What is needed is explicit, factual criticisms of his ideas and performance. No blanket assertions or opinions.

Barack has positioned himself and interacted with the press such that any criticism is quickly made into a racial slur or worse. Maureen Dowd was jumped on by Senator Obama for mentioning his ears in one of her articles. This man is super sensitive. This has not been noted by the press but eventually they will.

In the meantime, the approach taken here—factual and dated-—is the ticket we need to get into the victory ball.

People that never worked for a living or to whom money always came easily (i.e. marriage or inheritance) often tend to share the values of a Kerry, Kennedy, etc.

It’s the Western bourgeoisie liberal who tries to pretend as if he’s a “man of the people.” By roiling up his sleeves in a speech, talking the talk, and promising those in the middle or lower class everything under the sun these types attempt to climb and cling to power; i.e. Gore, born into an extremely affluent family managed to create the perception of a humble and middle class upbringing and not having had a silver spoon in his mouth since birth. You see this deceit primarily from the left. It’s the left that tries very hard to pander to the middle and lower class while also targeting minorities. It’s a farce, anyone with a clue sees through the facade that these country-club liberals present, but for some reason, Clinton is seen as the “First black President” by many. What's happening is that not only is America changing demographically, but it’s people have been dumbed down, and today someone like Barack Hussein Obama can as a hollow suit climb to where he is, because he’s articulate, clean, young, and black and he promises everyone everything. Unfortunately there is nothing else.

How dare Brian criticize the Obamassiah on Afghanistan?

Doesn’t he know that Afghanistan has the letters N, I and G in that word?

This is obviously the rantings of a racist lunatic. Let us ostracize his from the nation and let us come together and heal under the rainbow of Hope and Change™. Ramen.

[oh yeah... /s]

It is too bad that the Republicans did not put someone that I could vote for to oppose him.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen ‘air-raid’ turned into a verb before, but then I’m not as smart as the Chosen One.

So you’re just not going to vote and let this man win the presidency then, is that it?
