A new U.S. Navy ship to be christened Saturday was built partly using steel from the 9/11 ruins of the World Trade Center.
The company says on its Web site that the bow-stem of the ship, the seventh to be named "New York," includes 7.5 tons of steel from the World Trade Center.

I watched FoxNews -- they showed the ship was Christened. How appropriate to use the steel from 9-11 to build a ship to be used to defend us and go after the terrorists.
NEVER FORGET.
Kick ass good news!
USS New York To Be Christened At Northrop Grumman
"Cmdr. Curtis Jones will captain the vessel once it's sent out to sea.
Cmdr. Jones happens to be from New York. So he realizes what the USS New York and 9/11 mean to his city, and to the country. "It's always an honor to get command of a ship. But to get command of this ship, being from New York, it's an honor beyond pale, and extremely difficult to put into words," he said. "
The other 50% of the people living in this country can go pound sand.
Too bad most New York voters have forgotten about 9/11.
Islam out of America!
Unlike Michelle Obama, this makes me proud of my country.

Thank you for this thread, FocusNexus!
Perhaps more appropriate to the commissioning.
Joel 4:9..11 (you might call it 3:9...11)
Announce this among the nations; prepare for war; arouse the mighty men; let all the men of war approach and ascend.
Beat your plows into swords and your pruning forks into spears; even the weak one will say, "I am mighty"
Let all the surrounding nations hurry and come, and let them gather together; there hashem will demolish your warriors.
"Amite, La. (Sept. 9, 2003) -- Workers pour steel into a mold to form the bow stem of the Amphibious Transport Dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) as guests watch.
About 24 tons of steel was salvaged from the World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Approximately 10-percent of the steel was lost when the foundry superheated the 48,780 pounds of steel to 2,850 degrees Fahrenheit.

New York City (May 28, 2002) -- Construction workers carefully lower the last piece of debris to be removed from Ground Zero."
The event marked the final removal of the last remaining World Trade Center structure, Column Number 1001B of Two World Trade Center.
The 30-foot column remained standing following the collapse of the twin towers, when terrorists flew two commercial airliners into both skyscrapers on Sept. 11, 2001.
The resulting collapse created a mountain of 1.8 million tons of steel and concrete.
More than 3,000 people perished in the attack.

Bravo Zulu!
My error.
Not a photograph of the USS New York but rather the recently-commissioned USS San Antonio:
Most appropriate.
No wonder the Democrats can't figure this stuff out.
Then it is up to US to remind them everyday!
Yes, I saw this on TV this morning! Magnificent!
