Ugh, I just watched the video for the second time (had to show it to zelig)... it's bad enough to watch it once...LOL.
That awful looking guy (who shows up 2:13 into the video) is actor Luis Guzman, most "famous" (I guess) for his role in HBO's hard-core prison show "Oz".
Excellent casting by HBO, huh? ;-)
I’m with you. I am voting McCain. This is sick. Beyond the pale. I’ll be darned if I will sit by and let my beautiful country be turned over to these THINGS.
WE MUST ENSURE HE DOES NOT GET IN THE WH. GET AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO THE POLLS IN NOVEMBER TO VOTE GOP. THIS SOCIALIST MUST NOT GET IN.
Obama will go more mainstream once he has knocked Hillary out. He is clearly playing to his young people and black demographic here. He will need to appeal to the old line labor Democrats and Hispanics to win in November.
Even though one of the people in the video (a celeb?) says "Obama will not just be a president for black Americans", the video basically screams that he will primarily be a president for black Americans, and that we will start talking seriously about reparations, etc.
Honestly for the "independent, undecided, middle-of-the-road" type voter, I think a video like this is a "no sale". It will work for college students, Hollywood and leftists, but I think it will backfire on "normal" people.
Yes, and when Fred did that, I peeled his bumper sticker off of my car. All of this go-along, get-along crap with whoever is the oldest survivor of the Republican tribe just gets us more and more liberal leaders.
We needed to go through a Jimmy Carter before we could convince our fellow citizens that we deserved a Ronald Reagan.
I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid, and I certainly exhort my fellow conservatives to not give a dime to John McCain. McCain's a blithering idiot for calling for Obama to stick by his public financing claims. Instead of either going to a losing presidential campaign, or buying Obama a meaningless landslide, liberal money will instead go to Rat Congressional candidates. We need to wake up, realize this election's already lost at the top of the ticket, and prepare for getting Congress back.
I'm just seven months ahead of those of you who think wasting time, hope, energy and money on McCain will produce something that we will all appreciate. All that's going to happen is that we get someone our conservative Republicans are going to have to fight, like they did on shamnesty. If you like the idea of President McCain, then ask him to propose the Schwartzenegger Amendment, because that's who we're moving towards by the next election.
Here's another problem we have if Barry O implodes in November: We'll never have any kind of racial reconciliation in this country. All whites will be blamed for killing the false hope of Obama.
It's far better that one of two other things happen-either he falls flat on his face after half a term (and we get Republicans elected to Congress in droves), or better yet, Hillary steals the nomination from him in Denver.
John McCain has the luxury of being able to see how that convention goes, and can pick a running mate accordingly. If Hillary is still kicking and screaming by that time, she either steals the nomination, or her feminazi fan base goes ballistic. I've already seen it on the non-partisan blogs, they really threaten to vote for McCain if Obama gets the nod. Of course, if they have several months to calm down, they will (look what's happened with McCain here at FR the last few weeks), but they'll be mad as wet hens if her dirty tricks don't work.
McCain can nominate a woman as VP, or if Hillary's the nominee, he can nominate a black man. Either case lets him deal with the ire of the losing side, provided it's still glowing red-hot after Denver.
That is a good argument for McCain picking a black running mate. If Obama goes down, the Republicans will still have elevated a black to the #2 position, which would deflect charges of racism and election stealing (a little). Only thing is, who would he pick? J.C. Watts apparently is not interested. And I heard Bill Bennett make a valid comment disqualifying Michael Steele: "he is not a winner, yet", having lost his Senate bid. So, he has only been as high as Lt. Guv.
However, Obama is little more than a state legislator and freshman Senator, so I personally do not think Steele should be disqualified because he has only been Lt. Guv. I think he would be a good pick.
Michael Steele running against a strong candidate in Maryland has way more election savvy than Barack Obama beating the GOP’s third string in Illinois. He’d be a fine VP candidate, and someone that I’d proudly vote for in 2012 at the top of the ticket.
...for the "independent, undecided, middle-of-the-road" type voter, I think a video like this is a "no sale"
... the video basically screams that he will primarily be a president for black Americans.
Totally agree. In addition, about 10% of the video is in Spanish, a real stick in the eye for most folks.
Repubs have been very fortunate in their presidential opponents. Obama (or Hillary if she somehow pulls it out) is even more unelectable Gore or Kerry.
Just gather up 100 of the most trite dimocrat bumper stickers from the last 40 years, paste them randomly on a big board, and START READING!
i.e. "It's time for a change!"; "Keep hope alive"; "Peace now"; "Bush lied-people died"; "Tax the rich/Feed the poor"; etc. etc. etc. blah, blah, blah.
What’s wheatpasting?
I have been trying to tell anyone that will listen that this Mood Of Change BS is what got the Labour party into government here in Australia. McCain has to counter this with specific questions to the Democratic candidate. He must also bring up their own words and challenge them every step of the way. He kust also espouse his vision from America at it must not be nebulous like Obama’s.
BTTT
"Tax the rich/Feed the poor"; etc. etc. etc. blah, blah, blah.
Thanks!
