Will the "Willie Effect" Impact the Election?

Some speculate the controversy could cost McCain the White House

By 700WLW News

Thursday, February 28, 2008

( Cincinnati ) -- Some reports claim the on-going controversy involving 700 WLW talk show host Bill Cunningham (Willie Cunningham) and presidential candidate John McCain has the potential to impact the results of the 2008 election.

Ohio is a key state in the presidential election. For Republicans it is essential that they win as much support as possible in southwest Ohio to counter the strong Democratic party support in the Cleveland area.

Political Science professor Jason Johnson from Hiram College spoke to the Cincinnati Enquirer and told them John McCain needs radio talk show listeners and Willie fans to go his way, "John McCain needs those people if he has any hope of winning in November."

With other national talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity rushing to Willie's defense, it widens the rift between the party's conservative base and John McCain even further, at a time when the Republican party has only recently started to solidify around the likely nominee.

It’s the efficient/sufficient argument with the twist that there IS an elect.

Unconditional election: yep, but through the absolute indivisibily of God’s power and knowledge.

Irresistible grace: yes, preveniently. nope, regeneratively.

I guess we are kinda' hijacking this thread but I don't really understand the contrast you are trying to make. I have been a committed Calvinist for barely under a year and have not weighed too deep into all of the sub-currents within the system.

Cunningham is on daily on WLW, one of the largest signal stations in all of America, and I listen to it every single day of the week. He is on weekdays, evenings, and has a regular Clear Channel nationwide show on Sunday evenings. He’s used as a spokesperson in more commercials than I can even begin to remember. He’s a regular guest on all our sports talk programs. He’s all over our TV.

The guy is a raving, self centered lunatic. The party would be better off without jerks like this.

See, I think Obama came off looking like an idiot on that exchange. Make a commercial with Obama saying that, then a voiceover: Hey, we have news for you, Al Qaida is already doing that.

Those I’ve pinged are established, committed Calvinists and a friend. We are not on exactly the same sheet of music, but they are better for a young calvinist’s training than I would be. I respect the Lord too much not to point you toward some solid Christian brothers.

Peace, Streetpreacher.

Tell me how you really feel.

I like Cunningham. A lot.

McCain is a crapweasel. He’s a Democrat boot licker. He’s going to apologize to liberals every chance he gets between now and November. He may even prance around with Lindsay Graham or sponsor some new amnesty bills with his buddy, Ted.

But that being said, this Cunningham thing is not going to mean beans in the Ohio vote.

It already has.

McCain has lost my vote in SW Ohio.

>> In short, McCain just threw away Southern Ohio.

Given the same statement made by one on each side of the Isle, McCain energetically assails the Right and gently excuses the Left. It is indeed very bizarre. This behavior reminds me of those who disrespectfully berate the good child and show disproportionate favor to the bad child hoping to gain affection and cooperation.
