Bush's Kosovo policy, like Chamberlain's Munich policy, could lead to war

History has been a harsh critic of Neville Chamberlain's decision in 1938 to allow Adolf Hitler to trash the WWI Versailles peace treaty to seize control of and change the borders Europe, first France in the Rhineland, then Czechoslovakia and Poland. President George W. Bush's quick acceptance of the efforts of the Albanians in Kosovo to change the borders of Serbia will also be viewed in history as an appeasement that did not work.

World War II actually began when Adolf Hitler marched a mere 14,500 troops into the Rhineland on March 7, 1936, in violation of the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I and the Locarno Treaty which was signed in 1925 that included the "Rhineland Pact" between Germany, France, Belgium, Britain and Italy. The Rhineland Pact's main provision was an agreement among Germany, France and Belgium end border raids, with Britain and Italy agreeing to guarantee the borders in the event of aggression by any of the other states. ... Kosovo is for Serbia a land somewhat similar to what Pennsylvania is to Americans. Kosovo is the cradle of Serbian liberty and the center of their Serbian culture. There are hundreds of structures, churches, monuments, monasteries, that attest to that history. What has happened in Kosovo, with America's help, would be similar to a large group of Islamic fundamentalists, whose hero and mentor is Osama Bin Laden, moving into Pennsylvania over the next 50 years, as Albanians did in Kosovo in the 20th Century, and then voting to become an Independent State with membership in the United Nations, as they burned down the Christian churches, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell while driving out and seizing the property of the remaining Christians, Jews and non-Churched homeowners.

"When you start doing unto others as you would have done unto you, you can start talking about Christianity. "

The US government supported muslim terrorists, how Christian of them.

All that matters is that US troops do in fact occupy Kosovo, and that my loyalty is to my fellow Americans, and no one else.

AMEN!

"The fact that my government made a different choice is no reason to side with America's enemies against my own country, as you have, you filthy traitor"

Serbia is not your enemy dumba**, the US State Department pissed in the wind and is now tasting it. Part of being American is knowing when to tell the government they're doing something stupid like supporting terrorists.

I say we air drop in 1,000,000 M4 carbines and 1 billion rounds of ammunition, then fence the area off. Whoever wants it most will end up with it.

Best idea I've heard so far

I hear the banjos of deliverance playing in the background while Joe steps up to his soapbox.

I would get it online by using Google. I used to read classic literature regarding history. However, biographies and seeing multiple points of views online tend to have helped me more with a balanced point of view. The slant a liberal author tends to input into a ‘classic’ piece of literature when attempting to put things into historic context was starting to annoy me.

‘conundrum’. The classic verbage of liberal mind-set. Sure, from this point of liberal thinking Putin is great for the world.

The article was based on a liberal slant toward Putin, and boy how those liberals love to love and appease the communists. I am surprised your here at FreeRepublic but I see more Americans thinking this way these days.

Read more history in liberals wishing to capitulate to the Soviets in the 70’s and 80’s and see how your thinking about this man and country are identical to what Russia is doing once again. Communists are communists and act like communists. Same goes with capitalists in the West. Both have their inherent flaws but I will take freedom over slavery any day of the week. Putin’s restored Russian empire will be a short one, but keep admiring! The responsible here in America know what to do.

History just repeats itself, but your complex liberal thinking does not allow for the true study of human nature which is simplistic in design and eliminates having to read between the lines. A pity, you’ll like perish along with the rest of the masses by the hands and actions of your good komrads at the Kremlin. I guess in the end, natural selection works and my attempt to educate your folly in trusting an evil individual whom will directly end or ruin your life was in vain. Thanks for continuing to validate my point about human nature. It is also why it took mankind 10,000 years to invent the wheel. The obvious truth can be the most difficult to find in this media bombarded planet.

You may be right, although Serbia was heavy handed at the time to both muslims and christians. More of a Russian mafia run organization then but I guess now we probably will never if we could have ever realized Serbia as a true ally against Islam, or at least not in our lifetime at this point...

No need to sound intellectual. The study of human nature is really quite simple. However, I don’t see an attempt at an intellectual reply in any form so calling me you’re ex-bitch probably doesn’t require me to wish any more dialogue from you. And what are you, the Emperor in Star Wars?

Damn close to it, try Indiana Jones. You can read and analyze all you choose too, but reality differs than your wishful thinking.

Your lack of knowledge on the puny nation states of the balkans does show.

When you are up close and personal and experience first hand what you read about in the media or the internet, it is like two differant books, day and night.

I am not saying it is your fault to sound like an idiot from the knowledge you gather from unreliable sources and biased sources, I am saying is you are ignorant. It is obvious, quantas.

Your intelligentsia q might rival mine, so don't reach where you don't belong. I know your kind as you are easily goaded like your current bitch, Hoplite. Ohhhh, so fun to redirect.

I agree with you on how the serbs went about things but saying that we should have never got involved or at least if we did then it should have been in a non military way to help the serbs from radical islam.

Ironic that turkey was quick to recognise kosovo as an independant country yet they are not so quick to regognise kurdistan where the kurds have been for generations.

Ummm, what does the media say about Serbia? My take is not what the media speaks of in our side of the pond or Europe. Serbia is a puppet nation of Russia. Serbian people as a whole might be God fearing people, but the government is run by the Russian mafia. Russian mafia, FSB is the same entity. Has your analysis brought you to the same conclusion? If not, one of us is ignorant.

Intelligence level may be the same ma bell as I have seen many comments in the last couple of years and certainly you make some great points. However, me ‘reaching in places I don’t belong’ is a relative point of view considering what happens in any part of the globe can and does directly positively influences or detracts from my quality of life. My understandings are about statistical analysis and overlaying them with human nature traits and then applying lessons as to why history will repeat itself. Then with that understanding, I can better protect my family and my country. What’s you’re objectives? This matter is something I do not believe we will see eye to eye on.

I don’t feel ‘goaded’ into anything. This is after all user driven content and blog site. Differing opinions and extracting useful knowledge is what it’s all about, to me anyways.

Your comment about ‘current bitch Hoplite’ demonstrates that either you are not a true American gentleman or you have become old but not retained wisdom in your years on this planet.

Do not forget Balkans region are religiously diverse. Gypsies, Christians, Muslims or even ancient pagan believe existed in that region.

Unfortunately, sometimes the diversity of this ethnics and religions also brought hatreds and vendetta. One example, most of the Serbians don’t like Bosnians. And the Anti-Romani sentiments is still exist in modern Balkans region. And believe me, when hatred boiled over, it will have another war.

Historically, most of the Serbians are Christians although the former Communist regime has whitewash this considerably. And their Christianity is Eastern Orthodox which the catolics once launched the Crusades against them.
