If we don’t FIRST eliminate the 16th Amendment, we WILL end up with both a Sales Tax and an Income Tax. Count on it.

I'm surprised you beat them to the punch. They're slowing down.

Good work Rob. He is a smart devoted conservative from Virginia. We should see a lot of good things coming from Rob’s desk.

There's been nothing to stop Congress in the past from passing a national sales tax while maintaining an income tax except for one little detail called constituents. Congress critters know they would experience outrage on the same level as when they tried to grant amnesty to illegal aliens if they tried to have both taxes.

As with the Immigration debacle, they WILL try.

As with the Immigration debacle, they WILL try.
And will lose as they did twice this past summer.

Welcome aboard Congressman Whittman!
If the United States is ever again to be a truly FREE country we MUST rid ourselves of the communist inspired income tax and the IRS!

Count on it.Firs, let me say that I know of not a single FairTax supporter who does not also support repeal of the 16th amendment but, as a practical matter, there is simply NO way it can happen as you suggest. Congress is NOT going to move to repeal the 16th amendment without first having a viable replacement tax in place.
Secondly, if what you say were true, why do we not have them both today as there is currently NOTHING preventing it?

Isn’t it interesting that all these Republican sign on when they no longer have the power to even get the FairTax out of committee? Where were they when they had the opportunity to actually get the FairTax voted on? It seems the FairTax is a lot more popular with Republicans in the House when they know it’s not going anywhere.

about as meaningful as siging onto the flag burning amendment. or the right to life amendment.
sponsorships don’t matter because people do vote against bills they sponsor. Has it left committee? no? then there is the REAL question of parlementary procedure.

Do you mean how long until you get this thread sent to the Smoky Backroom? Remember, that's your idea, not mine. So let's see where the thread takes us, shall we.
As usual, it's your first move. That one isn't quite up to your usual standrad -- yet.

It is an absolute mystery to me why you and your merry band spend SO much of you valuable time attempting to put down something you universally claim to be "going nowhere".
Why is that?
