Early Exit Polling In Wisconsin

The AP has released its early exit polling demographics in Wisconsin, and the results offer hope to both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. They confirm that populist rhetoric has large appeal among Democrats, where 70% of their primary voters oppose globalization, and a majority felt the economy was performing poorly. Both candidates spent the last week hammering those themes and have to be encouraged that they resonated with the party base.

The other numbers favor Hillary. More women than men voted on Democratic ballots, and nine in ten were white. Only about 40% were college graduates, where Obama usually holds an advantage. Obama can take heart that the AP describes the typical Democratic primary voter as "slightly younger" than the Republican counterpart.

I will live-blog the results later this evening in a fresh post. The Republican race will be more or less a footnote, but that may produce a large crossover vote -- and it will be interesting to see whether Wisconsin Republicans like Obama or Hillary more.

McCain is certainly NOT as liberal when it would come to Supreme Court nominees - and that is no small matter.

Does it really matter which of the two Marxists wins?

I honestly believe that Hillary is the far more dangerous of the two. She's had years to build her machine and Obama is pretty much a "noob" at the game. He could take a while to establish a foothold and start causing problems. Hillary is set to cause damage from day one.

It is essential to defeat Hillary in the primaries, if possible.

I do not agree with the premise that Obama is unstoppable. There's far more risk with the Clintons. Heck,I honestly don't believe that white democrats would risk the same level of fraud for a black man. Knock out Clinton now and at least we have a shot at a republican democrat...(errr...that doesn't really make me feel any better - how 'bout you?)

The pollster (or the uninformed voters) does not appreciate that Wisconsin has a positive trade balance with the WORLD, so we create jobs in Wisconsin for the exports we create in manufacturing and agriculture.

Export sales by Wisconsin firms for all commodities grew by 15% over the previous year, totaling $17 billion in 2006.
Wisconsin ranked 19th among all the states for value of exports in 2006.

You have it backwards, Hillary is behind in the delegate count. She the one needing a blowout.

There loud, dedicated remains to be seen!
For example, the “Boobs for Obama” girl couldn’t be bothered with that voting thing!
One thing about the voting patterns & percentages of the demographic that is most enthusiastic about Obama, its very low! These people are not “broken glass” voters! The slightest distraction and they won’t show up to the voting booth.
Of course it is possible that this is the year all that past historic behavior goes out the window.

I disagree. The longer she can hang on and beat up on BHO, the better. Ideally, she'll try to snatch the nomination using some underhanded Clintonian tricks, and alienate the entire D votership.

I am a strict-constructionist. I believe that any deviation from that philosophy will doom the country.

We have been deviating to different degrees since John Adams and the "Alien" and "Sedition" acts. Deviations have increased in number and severity ever since, the last 50 years has produced a once great country that will be broke in a decade, both morally and fiscally.

I think it's cute that you still think we can rescue this nation through the ballot box, I obviously don't believe that, but once again, there aren't enough people that "think like me" to affect this election...especially here in Wisconsin.

She left early so that she doesn’t have to congratulate O’bama.If she were winning she’d still be there.

Clinton leaves Wisconsin early

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton has scaled back her Wisconsin campaign schedule by a full day.

She now plans to leave Wisconsin after Monday morning instead of Tuesday morning.

Today is Clinton’s first day of campaigning in the state, with an event in Kenosha and a state party dinner in Milwaukee, where her party rival Barack Obama also will appear.

Obama has already campaigned in the state Tuesday night, Wednesday, Friday, and today. He also has events planned for Kaukauna tomorrow and Beloit on Monday.

A poll released yesterday shows Obama with a 47 percent to 42 percent lead among likely Democratic voters.

But seriously...there’s a 35% voter turn out in WI today. Highest since 1988. Either the Lefties all rallied (there were TONS of new voter regs. today) or the right is turning out to act subversively and vote for The Beast or Obama-Lama-Ding-Dong. (You can vote ONCE. For ONE candidate, not one from each party...so people really needed to think hard today, as to how to “spend” their vote.)

Hard to say who it will go to...The Beast is a lot closer to winning (at this point) than anticipated, but I think Obama-Lama-Ding-Dong will win WI.

How about McCain Feingold which restricted freedom of speech? Or McCain Kennedy which wanted amnesty for illegals. How about his opposition to tax cuts? What about is insistence that we no longer look for our missing POWs and MIAs in Viet Nam? He is just as liberal as any democrat running, and more liberal than some.

I absolutely agree. We barely got rid of the Clintons last time. Have we forgotten that Gore won the popular vote in 2000? It was very close, despite all the Clinton scandals, impeachment, etc., etc. I for one do not want to take the risks involved in allowing the Clintons back in power.

I agree. Plus, McCain has mental and character issues. His health appeared poor, he has more than his share of scandals - adultery, Keating 5, etc.
