The AP has released its early exit polling demographics in Wisconsin, and the results offer hope to both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. They confirm that populist rhetoric has large appeal among Democrats, where 70% of their primary voters oppose globalization, and a majority felt the economy was performing poorly. Both candidates spent the last week hammering those themes and have to be encouraged that they resonated with the party base.
The other numbers favor Hillary. More women than men voted on Democratic ballots, and nine in ten were white. Only about 40% were college graduates, where Obama usually holds an advantage. Obama can take heart that the AP describes the typical Democratic primary voter as "slightly younger" than the Republican counterpart.
I will live-blog the results later this evening in a fresh post. The Republican race will be more or less a footnote, but that may produce a large crossover vote -- and it will be interesting to see whether Wisconsin Republicans like Obama or Hillary more.
Hard to tell about polls. Several Democrats I know were voting for Huckabee because they said he had no chance to win in November while some Republicans I know were going to vote to Hillary as they thought she’d be easier for McCain to defeat. We’re an interesting state.
very odd exit poll.......other ones today have shown a almost certain Obama win.
This does not jive with other data and should be thrown out as unreliable.
McCain is certainly NOT as liberal when it would come to Supreme Court nominees - and that is no small matter. And don’t even get me started about “cut and run” when it comes to the War On Terror.
We need them to pummel each other mercilessly right to the convention. When Obama goes in with a delegate lead, and the guys in they smoky back room flip the nomination to Hitlery, all hell will break loose!
...to continue...Obama goes third party, all 3 candidates take almost even electoral votes in the general with no clear majority, Dick Cheney takes the oath of office 1/20/09 until the electoral college mess gets straightened out. Candidates bicker for 4 years. America is saved. (Don’t I wish.)

HORSERACE
First Word on Wisconsin Exits
I’m hearing that after two waves of data, Wisconsin looks like a blowout in favor of Obama, in the neighborhood of 60 percent to 40 percent.

Uneven Turnout in Wisconsin
Interesting, and wildly varying, reports of turnout from different parts of Wisconsin.
Extremely low in Dane County, because of weather. Milwaukee is “steady to busy.” Waukesha, just west of Milwaukee, is “average” - projected at about 40 percent.
Tough to get a sense of whether Hillary or Obama is hurt more at this point by low turnout... Dane County is the home of University of Wisconsin-Madison, but other reports indicate that student turnout is high in Milwaukee...

I think that Saddam Hussein Osama is going to win every state from here on out, but each win has to be a blowout for him to get the delegates, and I doubt he can do that.
Obama is probably less dangerous. Also, if Hillary keeps losing primaries she’s likely to resort to dirty tricks and cheating to get the nomination... which will hurt her in the general election (most Obama supporters would have held their nose and rallied behind her if she got it fair and square, but not if she gets it using standard Clinton methods).
Yeah as long as they don't wear their conservatism on their sleeves.
“I used to know him.”
Tell! Tell!
the beginning of the Obama Mania BUST!!!! I hope it continues. FREEPERS who still pray for this guy to be president are a disgrace!!!!! Go Hillary! She will be taken care of in the general by McInsane. Yes I have my maximum superdupper protective suit ready to go for election day when I press the Republican button.
I keep seeing statements like this posted, but without specifics they cannot be taken seriously ... because there is objective, long-term evidence to the contrary.
Need I post the ratings of ACU, ADA, National Right to Life, NARAL, etc.?
There arent that many strict-constructionists out there. Our missing votes will easily be made up with liberals who like McCain...youll get your man and Ill enjoy my popcorn and keep my dignity and powder dry.
Remember, it was the disaster of Carter that gave us Reagan.
What Freepers are praying for Obama to be president? I see them praying more for the Clintons to be defeated. If they get the nomination, they will stop at nothing to get elected in November and that includes stealing, cheating and worse. Obama on the other hand is going to fold like a cheap suit.
That's Madistani challenge question. To which the loyalists will answer, "I'm gay" and vote accordingly.
Obama on the other hand is going to fold like a cheap suit.
He might, but his supporters won’t. They want him in the white house and will do anything to get there and that includes standing in line for hours to vote for the guy. They are dedicated more so than any other candidate in history. Democrats are coming out in droves this election and it is only the primary. Please...that guy gets the nomination...he is President of the United States of America!!!
“I feel he should be hung for treason”
Maybe just a touch of hyperbole.
Yes, Carter beget Reagan.
But Obama may beget America kaput. Too far gone to fix.
I’m a strict-constructionist...I meant no hyperbole.
Open primary. May just mean Barry Obama will win it on cross over Republican voters.
Would that not be sweet?
Please stop using this dumb lines, it all over this forum like some crazed drug. You guys do not know what you are have for dinner tomorrow and yet you are making this immense strategic planning on what will happen after Clinton and Obama.
Do you your America to surrender in the war on terror, then let Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama be President.
Do you want America to pay more taxes and create more socialism, then let Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama be President.
Do you want judges in the mold of Ginsburg then let Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama be President.
Do you want to allow partial birth abortion then let Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama be President.
No matter what I say, I am not going to convince you and people who think like you. People who are OK to bring ill and evil over the USA so they can see McCain defeated. What a shame.
