“I think we ought to just forget this election and start over.”

I dreamt two weeks ago that Fred Thompson re-entered the race. I actually had that dream.

If Fred were to stand up at a press conference and make that statement today, I think our side would explode with support for him, no matter WHAT the RNC is doing with “their” election process.

“McCain: 82% lifetime American Conservative Union rating“ Dream on ...

OK, then how about looking at the ACU's own site for confirmation. Putting your fingers in your ears and wishing it weren't true won't change the message. 82% lifetime rating, 75% over the last 8 years.

But rather than be intelligent in terms of the battle for conservatism, you go right on ahead and make sure that Hillary! or Obama are sworn in to the Oval Office. It appears to be your desire to see the Democrats control Congress and the White House, after all...

I can't and won't. To Maine Mariner, whose son, nephew and neice are in Iraq, and to originalbuckeye whose son is at USNA, keep in mind, if John voted to leave his fellow POW's in the hell-hole of Viet Nam, what makes you think he wouldn't abandon your loved ones too? Tha man has no heart.

That's what makes me gag every time I hear him kissing his own ass as a "hero".

No rational person would ever consider Hanoi jane (Ted Turner’s reject) as a Republican nominee.

I would have thought the same thing about McCain, except replace "person" with "Republican". It's easy to understand why non Republicans would crossover and vote for Jane Fonda or Michael Moore or John McCain to be the Republican nominee, and in a primary campaign where a half dozen conservatives are fragmenting the legitimate conservative vote, the liberal will always be our nominee. Particularly if we have an aversion to brokering our way out of a horrible nominee during our convention.

Do you READ?

Do you comprehend ENGLISH?

Could you take a moment to READ and COMPREHEND the article the thread is about?

Why be an apologist for a LIBERAL?

Get REAL.

“What part of John McCain do we not get? McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Lieberman, McCain-Edwards — among other socialist, anti-speech, open-borders, enviro-Marxist measures he’s co-sponsored with the hardcore left of the Democratic Party over the years.”

If this is YOUR idea of a “conservative” by all means vote for the LIBERAL. We won’t be voting for a LIBERAL.

It always surprises me when adults resort to such tactics, but I suppose I should be used to it. ;)

You jsut don’t get it!

McCain is a LIBERAL.

McCain is not much better than Hitlery or Obama. SO whether you vote for McPain in the arse, or the Obomination or Hitlery, a Demoncrat will be in the WH. McPain should be running as a Demoncrat. He should be sitting with the Demoncrats. He doesn’t want to reach across the isle to conservatives. Too bad. He doesn’t have our vote. McPain is not GOOD ENOUGH. He’s a feaking LIBERAL. We refuse to bend over and hold our nose anymore for these stinking RHINO’S.

YOU vote for the LEFTIST “war hero”.

If you are more concerned about the conservatism of the Republican Party than concerned about the country then you have your priorities way out of whack.

No, the issue is the future. If we continue to support Rinos because that is all that is offered, it is all that will EVER be offered. Some of us believe we will have to bite the bullet in the hope that down the road there will be real conservative candidates to vote for.

If you're ok with a republican party that looks more and more like the democrat party, that's your right. I'm not, and I don't see any other way.

Some that McCain will mess up the country just like a liberal so let a dem take the blame not a Rep. The drive by media will blame us regardlessly. This a lesson that we might never recover from. If McCain is president we might not get the best Judges for supreme court. If Hillary or Obama is elected 100% guaranty the will get activist judges. This is a lesson that will take a lifetime to recover from. Up to six judges could retire in the next four or eight years and those appointed by a dem president could sit on the bench for 20-30 year or more. Who needs a congress when the supreme court will make laws for you.

....... in a primary campaign where a half dozen conservatives are fragmenting the legitimate conservative vote......

I don’t have the numbers, but the sum of all votes cast for those considered “real” conservatives is not adequate to beat McCain. There has been no one groomed for the job. Those who have were exterminated by the leftist press.

Conservatives should be about the destruction of the media but fear the task.

“If you can come up with a way to make McCain disappear and put someone more conservative in his place then I will be all for it,”

Patience is the only way. Both the GOP and the Dems have found themselves stuck with odious candidates. It’s not like we’re talking Reagan vs. Carter here, where there was a clear choice.

2008 is a battle, but it is not the war. Let the Dems have this one. Four years of Carter gave us Reagan, who’s accomplishments far outweighed Carter’s follies. Hillary can deliver us the same thing. I am still unsure of the Obama factor, but I just don’t see him taking the nomination at the end of the day.

But 20 years from now, whom do you think will have done more damage to conservatism: Hillary or McCain?

Think about it.

You don't get it, DO YOU? You don't HAVE a choice. You don't choose, you LOSE. Guaranteed.

Huh. The shouting came across loud and clear, but I had to imagine your foot stomping and beet-red face. Next time, send an URL to your webcam so I can get the full effect.

And you can threaten me with imaginary scenarios, "expect" and "trust" all you want. I'm not voting for McCain.

Sorry, superchamp. Principles above party. I don't want to live in McCains twisted vision of The United States, and I don't want his presidency to be the watershed moment when the supposedly "conservative" party becomes Democrat Lite.

So you have my half-hearted apologies in advance. Not because I'm not supporting McCain, but because I won't be a party to your black and white if/then fantasies.

McCain’s first 100 days:

1. enacts Global warming tax
2. gives Amnesty
3. closes Gitmo
4. signs new restrictions on free speech

It will really make you proud! /s

Actually, we don’t have to worry about it, McCain is an extremely weak candidate and Obama will will in a landslide. Even Hillary would edge McCain.

Vote 3rd party and have some self-respect.

The RNC called us the other day for $$$. I nearly took their head off. I told them point blank, take us off the $$$ list. We will NOT give you any money for LIBERALS. We are SICK of this.

Even the NYT endorses McCain. The media LOVES McCain. THey’ll get a LIBERAL in the WH. It’s no wonder the NYT interviewed the Hickster. I’d bet the NYT was literally salivating when they asked the Huckster what he knew about Mormonism. The NYT can spot a bigot and sure enough Mike, the “Christian” took the bait and gave them what they wanted - highlight the Mormon stuff to scare people. Huckabee was the ONLY candidate to discuss anyone else's religion.

Why yes, I do read and comprehend English (among other languages). Thank you for your interest in my education, but please extend your gratitude to the good Dominican sisters of St. Alphonsus for the first 8 years of my tutelage, and the good Christian Brothers of Ireland for the following 4. And of course the various professors as I pursued and attained my higher degrees.

But my intellectual abilities rise beyond the mundane and those skills learned in the hallowed halls of our educational edifices. For I am web-savvy too, and I can actually click these things called "hyperlinks" whereby I can see other pages and websites.

When I click this link I see the American Conservative Union has an 82% lifetime rating for McCain. Go ahead, try it - your mouse won't bite!

Now, when I click this link I see that Senator Clinton has a 9% American Conservative Union lifetime rating.

And when I click this link I see that Senator Obama has an 8% American Conservative Union lifetime rating.

My knowledge goes beyond just English and the Internet, though! For you see I have mastered a considerable amount of mathematics too. And my mastery of this most logical and reasoned of all subjects leads me to conclude unequivocally that 82% is higher than not just 8%, but also 9%!

Furthermore, my understanding of logic - prized as a lofty field since the age of Plato and Aristotle - leads me to conclude, when using the transitive property of mathematics whereby we subsitute the names of the candidates for their percentages and the results of the inequalities to represent conservatism - that McCain is between 9 and 10 times more conservative than the Democrat candidates.

Now, the question returns to you - can you read, comprehend English, and understand the basic mathematical principle of inequalities? For assuming these skills are not foreign to your intellect you will have no choice but to reach the same inescapable conclusion:

Senator McCain is much more conservative than Senator Clinton or Senator Obama.

"If we continue to support Rinos because that is all that is offered, it is all that will EVER be offered"

Actually, there were at least a couple of conservative candidates "offered" this time around -- Hunter and Fred. And most of us on FR supported one of the two. Alas, they just didn't get enough votes to advance. Conservative nominees may be an endangered species, but conservative candidates aren't.

“Senator McCain is much more conservative than Senator Clinton or Senator Obama.”

Not by much. The differences are debatable.

YOU vote for the LIBERAL, McCain.

We will NOT be voting for this LIBERAL, “war hero”.

Not only is he too LIBERAL, he’s too OLD. Maybe that’s his problem. Honestly, now allowing waterboarding when it could save AMERICAN lives? GEESH! McCain needs to retire.
