Latest HOT HOT HOT Rumor From Friends/Fiends/Network News Sources – Hillary To Quit Senate

As about 10 minutes ago, people are working this TOTALLY UNCONFIRMED rumor: Hillary will quit Senate.

Reasons are multiple:

1. A desperation attempt to show voters she is willing to “put everything on the line" to devote all her time and energy to her quest for Presidency.

2. To do something, anything, to change the almost universal headlines about her imploding campaign.

3. Portray herself as a “victim” yet again.

4. She never had much power or respect in the Senate anyway. All her power stemmed from her position as the presumptive nominee for President.

5. She has no desire to work in a job where, assuming her Presidential bid fails, she would be “equal” to 99 others.

6. In Senate, she is limited in what she can earn on lecture circuit. Out of Senate, she will command $100,000 to $250,000 per lecture, 10 to 60 times a year, be waited on hand and foot, and work only as hard as she wants to.

7. She can keep herself in the limelight as head of some foundation she creates, and answer to no one.

8. She can keep her private life, which has been greatly restricted for the last few months, as open or as secret as she wants.

9. She can do what she wants, with as much or as little alignment with Bill as she wants.

10, More than anything else, she was only ever in public life for the power it would bring her and her desire to drive America into a socialist state, and the failure of this campaign signals the end of much of her political power.

The general idea is that she would quit anyway for reasons listed, so why not do it now when there a chance, however slight and desperate, that it might reignite her campaign.

Hillary’s only reason in politics is to be President. The Senate was only meant to be a stepping stone. I do not doubt this rumor. People in NY will be ticked.

Yes, he can. Which means that his second-in-command, David Paterson, would become governor.

The only problem is, Paterson is legally blind... he may not be capable of serving.

If that's right, whoever said it is a genius or the luckiest person on earth. Take whatever odds you can get on it and you'd make a fortune ...

... if it's right. It probably isn't. Bob Dole was 73 when he ran for President. So he really didn't have to hand around the Senate whether he won or lost. Hillary's only 60. She can get two more terms in before she's Dole's age. She'd be crazy to quit.

You can't take your assessment of her for her own self-image. You may think that Clinton has no power or influence or standing as a Senator apart from her status as a presidential candidate, but why would she think that?

You may think that Hillary would rather take her marbles and go home if she doesn't win, but would any US Senator really think that a Bill Clinton-like retirement was better than the hurlyburly of real-life politics?

Geesh, I thought she already quit, since she was never there, anyway.

Agreed. The OBwan thing is merely to get the Black vote nerved up and on their feet. Once OBwan gets on board with the beast, the doors to 1600 lay wide open.

There will be no serious opposition from a McCain run - even if he digs up Mr. Reagan as his running mate. The base is shattered and the RAT’s are in a rising moon.

Oh good, if she quits the senate and then loses the nomination, perhaps we can finally get her and her husband in jail for their criminal activities.

This is either...

1) untrue

or

2) Hillary knows the fix is in for her to win in November, so she's got nothing to lose.

I believe it.

Her only reason for running as Senator was to be President.

Does anyone really believe that she actually cares about the people of New York?

I don't believe it either...for now. She'll hang on until she wins the nomination. (Obama, stay out of Marcy Park).

Damn sure she doesn't want the Senate as a life long commitment.

Dumb broad...She should have run as VP with Kerry. They would have won. She was afraid of Bush!! and spent the next 4 years bashing him via her dirty army.

Hillary taking a page from the McCain rumored-to-be-resigning-Senate playbook?! :)

soooo..if she loses- do she and Bill go directly to divorce court?

I seriously doubt she’d quit the senate. She needs to stay in public office to avoid prosecution for former mischief.

Seems very unlikely. Unless she’s got a deal with Spitzer to reappoint her if she loses the Presidency.

But if she can’t be president, she doesn’t want a puny senator’s job.

Are insinuating that Hillary only ran for the Senate to advance her quest for the crown?
