Fox News ^

Coming off a sweep in the Potomac Primaries, John McCain’s campaign has a message for Mike Huckabee: It’s over.

The campaign released a memo after McCain won Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia Tuesday night saying the victories make it “mathematically impossible for Governor Huckabee to secure the Republican nomination for president.”

And McCain is doing whats best for McCain and not for the country. If McCain were the great american he claims to be he'd realize he's unelectable and polarizing in his own party. Time for McCain to do something for the country and stand down.

Good answer!

Can you just FEEL the fervored frenzy at the convention when McCain accepts his nomination, how exciting it will be - NOT!

But if there is a chance for Romney or someone else to stop McCain I would like to see that!,

So if they go to the convention and McCain has far more delegates, how would someone else be proclaimed?

So if you desperately needed a new vehicle and wanted a Cadillac escalade but only had enough money to buy a Chevy cavalier you would sit at home instead.

Your choice!

Huckabee has two sensible reasons for staying in the race - the good of the party (assuming that is McCain) notwithstanding. (1) He gets to build an organization in the states with upcoming primaries for 2012/2016. (2) If for some reason McCain is unable to run between now and November, Huckabee could be holding all the chits.

Huckabee is actually doing McCain a favor by staying in the race. He’s not running an aggressively negative campaign against McCain. Huck’s also not so conservative that he has become a magnet for conservatives disenchanted with McCain. On the contrary, the fact that the Republican race is still contested keeps McCain in the news despite the Hillary vs. Obama contest. Also, the fact that Huckabee is generally positive keeps the coverage upbeat.

Huckabee’s continued presence in the race gives McCain free airtime that he could not afford to buy. Not that this recovering Fred-head is very happy with McCain, but with a gracious loser like Huckabee as a foil, I’m not sure why the McCain campaign wants to go into silent mode and surrender all the media coverage to the democrats for the next 4 months.

“He is just there giving voters an option”

Not sure about TX and OH, but thus far all eight names have been on the primary ballots. Romney & even Giuliani still get many votes.

I thought I’d heard it all on FR.

You, like I, wished Duncan or Fred got the nomination but we are grownups. Grownups don't get to throw tantrums when the game doesn't turn out like they want. Unlike toddlers, they don't smash the game board while screaming and yelling and then running off. I don't think I can ever recall a bigger 'group' crybaby party. God help us if this is what the conservative party has come to.

Nope. He has already said he is voting out of “spite”.

Now that’s a good basis for decisions.

” Huck will get the job at FEMA or something. “

I think Huck should be ambassador to the troops — the Bob Hope of the 21st Century. He would be great!

I wouldn’t vote for him if he won, but I love him being a pain in Mccain’s ass.

That's the problem, isn't it? Even our protest vote is a loser.

“So if they go to the convention and McCain has far more delegates, how would someone else be proclaimed?”

I guess if McCain has “far more” delegates, he would be the nominee. But if other candidates gain delegates from the remaining states it may keep McCain from ending up with “far more”. And what happens if other candidates join against McCain and urge their delegates to support another candidate?

I really do not know how many delegates are committed to a particular candidate or how many are free to switch their support to another candidate if we have an open convention. Folks have been saying that “anything can happen” at an open convention and I really don’t know why many think someone other than McCain could be nominated at an open convention.

“Yeah, over for the Republicans.”

I think that is what he meant. He is happy because it is mathematically impossible for a conservative to win in November. Only a liberal and a liberal, who doesn’t call himself a liberal, will be running.

I think I am getting sick. No doubt I will be sick on election day. Sick and tired of being stabbed in the back again and again by RINOs.

If a RINO loses all 50 states in November do you think that will deter all future wannabe RINOs from straying off the conservative playbook?

When you vote for a man you are blessing his record.

Shouldn't you know his record?

Maybe you shoudn’t look too closely at Reagan’s record as Governor or count how many times taxes were raised during his 8 years as President, increases that would of made Walter Mondell proud. Yet he is rightfully so our model for the perfect candidate we are all looking for.

"Meanwhile, he has also proven a fair lack of character in the way he is handling this race."

Yes, only a tool of the global Marxists like McCain could make Huckabee look like he was somewhat conservative with a smidgen of class.

You are comparing Reagan's record with McCain's?

You don't need to post to me again. I don't talk to idiots.
