I guess if McCain has “far more” delegates, he would be the nominee. But if other candidates gain delegates from the remaining states it may keep McCain from ending up with “far more”. And what happens if other candidates join against McCain and urge their delegates to support another candidate?
I really do not know how many delegates are committed to a particular candidate or how many are free to switch their support to another candidate if we have an open convention. Folks have been saying that “anything can happen” at an open convention and I really don’t know why many think someone other than McCain could be nominated at an open convention.
